Chapter 24 Skill Selection/Round One

Leo grinned as he scrolled through his skill selection.

Void Chains (ARCANE)

Inexorable, Inescapable, Embrace The Void

Void Dismantle (ARCANE)

Unending, Undying, Face The End

Void Teleport (LEGENDARY)

The world is just one step away.

Leo’s grin grew wider. Arcane skills? He’s only heard of them. They were offered to people who’s Path have already been cemented and are unchangeable. It was the highest rarity anyone below D-Grade could receive and were naturally the strongest.

The question was which one should he take? [Void Chains] seemed like an incredible restricting skill it would slowly overwhelm enemies and drown them in a deluge of chains. [Void Dismantle] seemed like a [Void Slash] but just way way more and a bit weaker per slash. Overall it lacked the strength to be a finisher like how a point-blank [Void Slash] would be. But didn’t Leo just need that?

[Void Slash] ultimately was an incredible situational attack being strong as hell but hard as hell to land while [Void Dismantle] seemed like an incredible attack to injure and slow down his opponent. There was no hesitation as [Void Dismantle] was chosen.

Leo looked on with awe as a fractal suddenly engraved itself on Leo’s pathways lining up on his arm. It was like a tattoo except super complicated and Leo couldn’t make heads or tails of it. The fractal faded away but Leo felt the skill there and ready. Leo threw around half the Void Energy he would put into a [Void Slash] into [Void Dismantle] and the effect was instantaneous.

A running Sword Curse cultivator was immediately covered with cuts and fell over dead not even his Low Grade Spacial Tool survived. Leo grinned and looked into the depths of the battlefield there should be stronger enemies there.

Shade grunted as she pushed off the behemoths hammer with her blade. A roundhouse kicked knocked the walking monstrosity backward and two quick slashes later the Sword Curse cultivator was split in two. She looked backwards and saw Leo point at a frazzled running F-Grade normal Sword Curse Cultivator the Cultivator was instantly slashed into pieces. Monster. Shade thought.

Leo ran forward like a demon sending slashes everywhere slaughtering the lower level cultivators. Leo’s plan was to make an elite step out and have to engage. Suddenly a lance covered with Cursed Energy came out of nowhere and penetrated Leo sideways. Leo stumbled back straight into a hooded figures claw. Leo wretched his body to the side as the lance dispersed appearing back into the assassins hand. Leo felt his back bloody claw marks ran across his back.

Leo suddenly remembered an old man’s wise teachings — Fuck around and you’ll find out. Leo groaned and looked at the clearly Elite cultivator. After all what kind of F-Grader could show such power?

Asil smiled as he toyed with his lance feeling the runes covering it. It was an F-Grade Spirit Tool his grandpa got for him when he was five. He was on the frontier looking for a challenge and hardening a bit he didn’t expect much from the locals. But the one in front of him seemed decent enough. He grimaced as he felt the lack of Dao in the air. How did people live like this on the frontier? It was a miracle Autarchs appeared here. He opened one of his mouths and started reciting his speech he pre made when he finally met a worthy opponent this was going to be legendary!

Leo was confused as his opponent wasn’t attacking but rather talking out of a mouth on his cheek. “I have waited for this. Please don’t disappoint. Now…… LET’S MAKE THIS FIGHT ONE TO REMEMBER!” Leo looked at his enemy in disbelief did this guy seriously just recite a prewritten phrase rather than capitalize on his weakness. Whatever Leo was sure to take an advantage when he got one the Void covered his body as [Void God] activated.

Asil felt as proud as one could be at his own speech. Certainly he wouldn’t suspect it was prewritten his elders beings at B-Grade never even seemed to doubt his speech how would a frontier F-Grader find out? His smile faded a little as he saw the man go into a Berserker state. Couldn’t he have acknowledged his speech even just a little bit? Anger materialized and became into power as his Dao Of Wrath unleashed.

Leo pointed and a bestial voice emitted from his throat. Dismantle. The man teleported to the side the space where he was previously standing cut up. The lance suddenly appeared in a downward arc aiming for his head but when he moved to block the lance split into 50 all aiming into his chest. Leo realized he had screwed up and knew instinctively there was no dodging this. Leo instead slashed the air with his arm activating [Void Slash]. He grabbed onto the man’s arm and while his chest was punched through with multiple small puncture holes the [Void Slash] slashed off the man’s other arm. Still holding on Leo pointed. Dismantle. The man staggered backwards bloodied and hurt.

Leo capitalized as he pointed again but before he could say anything he felt a strong backlash. Leo realized he couldn’t use his attack. The wounds in his chest radiated in insidious energy Wrath. Leo felt his anger spiking and coupled with [Void Gods] influence was enough to push him over the edge. Destruction rained as he started ripping apart the ground with his bare hands. All he could think about was his Wrath his anger his Revenge.

Asil smiled as he felt the attack take affect he wasn’t trying to kill his opponent but rather implant the seeds of Wrath he hadn’t expected to have to blow up the seeds to muddle his opponents thoughts this early but Fate is a beast. Still Asil was smiling as his arm grew back and cuts close his opponent was also out of his fit and Asil smiled. Let Round 2 Begin!
