16. Anger

Here it goes again. Eve felt both content and discontent. On one hand she was happy that this was actually one of her powers and she could use it again, but on the other hand she knew she had to do something quick cause on her current state she couldn’t process properly. She started analyzing the enemies, they were both frozen as expected. Tomal was in the middle of a sentence whilst Merian was just staring at him. She had them perfectly trapped and she could do anything she wanted to trap them. Then all of a sudden she heard some steps. She turned around to notice Kotlin freely moving. Shaiyla was on his side, she appeared to be moving as well, but only in slow motion. But Kotlin, he could move like nothing had happened. Was that a sign of something? She started remembering back at the exit of Dork. She couldn’t remember. Did Kotlin move back then? Or was he just unconscious? She only remembered herself beating those guards.

Anyhow, there was no time to waste. She had to approach them and figure out something together. It was then when she noticed her pet could move too.

“Hey guys!” said Eve. “It’s great to see you two can move as well in here.”

“Yeah, that’s actually great.” replied Kotlin. “I didn’t realize we were in this state tho. It was all abruptly.”

“I know, right? I firstly thought I wouldn’t be able to use this again, but it appears that I was wrong. Anyways, we have to do something before things go south. Shaiyla, go with Kotlin to the nearest city. I’ll find you there as soon as I’m done here. Be sure to hide properly and not give anything out. I’ll be sure to find you both, no matter what.”

Silence.

“Shaiyla?” said Eve.

“I don’t think she can move.” replied Kotlin.

“B-but, I saw her moving a little bit just now.”

“It must’ve been me, I was poking her to see if she’d react and then I slowly grabbed her.”

“But, how come you can move then? When nobody else can?”

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

“I don’t know Eve. I’d love to know that too. But as you were saying, I don’t think we have time.” said Kotlin after pointing at Merian and Tomal.

“Yes, you’re right here. Anyways, the same applies to you too. Get her to the nearest city and wait me there.”

“Alright.” said Kotlin. “Hey. Be careful.”

“I will!” replied Eve.

Then Kotlin ran for his life while carrying Shaiyla. Now that the important stuff had been taken care off, she could go back to finding a strategy to beat them. But that wasn’t the case. Time had proceeded normally.

“..e!? Your pet doesn’t bother me at all. That just means one more thing to capture.”

Eve had no time to prep, but her anger was alive and noticing Tibius dead on the ground only aggravated that. She still didn’t know what her pet was capable off. For what matters, she didn’t even know what she herself was capable off. But that didn’t refrain her.

She rapidly jumped from the ground and then vanished. Eve didn’t know what she was doing either, it just naturally felt right. She appeared behind Tomal and while quickly pulling out her dagger, she tried to stab Tomal. But he wasn’t as careless as she thought. He intercepted it and pushed Eve away. Merian seemed to be enjoying the view.

Eve kept teleporting from one place to another, with no real destination. She realized this was her daemon’s doing. She didn’t know how much it could keep this up, but she started thinking about something. After a while, the right plan came into her mind. The pet as of reading her mind, stopped the continuous leaps. Eve didn’t know how much this would’ve worked, but it was her only choice for the time being. She couldn’t really fight Tomal, since she knew she had no chance of beating him.

She gathered all the energy she had to her dagger and it started filling up with so much power to the point of glowing. Then she quickly threw it towards Tomal.

“Haha, do you really think that’s gonna do anything to me?” laughed Tomal.

At the last second, the daemon made a visible portal and the dagger went through it. Appearing on Merian’s back. Merian was caught off guard and the dagger did it’s work.

The dagger somehow teleported back to Eve’s hand and unlocked:

VISION +10

So that was Merian’s power, huh?

Tomal quickly descended towards Merian and started yelling when he noticed she was dead. Credulous as he was, he rapidly disappeared with Merian in his hands while saying:

“I’ll save you, I promise. We’ll achieve what we’ve always wanted together.”

So that was it? Thought Eve. She also noticed that the pet had fallen asleep.

She knew she was no fight for those two. And who knew how many more like them were out there, excluding the Devil itself. She paid visit to Tibius one last time but she ended up crying. She hadn’t practiced at all. But a sudden realization came on her.

“I gotta find Shaiyla, no one better than her can teach me Tibius’ ways.”

Then she left on her new quest of finding her newest party member.
