Mom? My mother has been a crucial component of my life, if it hadn’t been for her to keep me going, my sanity would’ve been worse. I actually never thought about her since I came here. I didn’t even think about what she was doing right now, whether she was agitated and had called on the police to report my absence or whether she had noticed at all. Don’t get me wrong, I love my mom and she probably loves me too. But her work keeps us apart for the entirety of the day, so we rarely see each other; but when we do I deeply treasure those moments.
So thinking of her as being part of all of this would be strange. Actually, those voices I heard in my dream. One of them was a female voice, right? There’s no way my mom is related to that. Nevertheless, that image is still pretty scary and yet I’m somehow excited to find out what that meant and who are they.
Also, it’s pretty impressive that Kotlin’s health looked great. I could’ve sworn he was in a grave condition just before he felt better. Those herbs really do miracles. I’m actually glad we took this journey together, but I still have to ask him about his true identity. Everything in due time I suppose.
“My Mom?” said Eve.
“Yes,” replied Tibius. “I’m not sure if you’ve realized all these years, but the entity you have been living with is not your mother. Your mother’s soul is wandering into some spirit somewhere and her location is unknown. She most likely is lost forever, but it may make you feel better that she at least is still alive for what matters.”
“WHAT!?” exclaimed Evelyn.
“Relax and listen to me out.” continued Tibius. “You wanted to hear the truth so be quiet and you’ll get it. As I was saying, you’re Evelyn, the daughter of the Devil.”
Eve was completely left in awe. Kotlin mimicked her reaction.
“Nobody knows the name of your mother, but she was beyond beautiful and she was able to deceive the Devil itself. You’re one of the most powerful beings out there, but since you’re half human half demon your powers are limited. One other downside is that you have no idea on how to use them either, which really slows down the whole process.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
However, those are nothing that can’t be practiced and achieved but taking into consideration your versatility you’re pretty unpredictable. Meaning, you might come up with some sort of new skills. Nonetheless, I’ll teach you the basics that will help you control your abilities easier. We won’t specifically focus on any of them, we’ll just get the general.
That’s all there’s to it. Even if there is more, I wouldn’t be capable of telling you anything else cause this is all I know myself.
That’s all I knew about you. Now, lemme tell you what’s going on here. We’re currently on Lak, there’s also Dork, which you are familiar with. Lum, which is right as you exit Lak and the capital. Lak is pretty empty cause all the inhabitants left since the last war.”
“Why do you two look like humans?” asked Eve.
“Right. You have to know that there are multiple type of beings here. I and Shaiyla are a special race, neither of us however knows how we got here. Lirius was my master, as you might’ve figured by now. His investigations couldn’t go through on why humans existed here. I presume he’s dead now, right?”
“Y-yes..”
“Thought so—that old reckless fool. Anyhow, the other beings are the Nab. I don’t specifically know what they are, but they most likely are the true inhabitants of this place.”
“Interesting, so that might explain why Kotlin looks like us. He’s human too!”
“Hmm, yeah,” said Tibius. “Who exactly are you?”
“He was Lirius’ nephew. He didn’t know where to go after Lirius died and since he didn’t know his true origins either, we teamed up.” replied Eve.
“Interesting. Lirius never mentioned anything to me about you.”
“It’s cause he kept a secret to everyone, maybe it was one of his plans.” responded Kotlin.
“Anyways, turning back to the main point. I don’t know with whom you’ve been living all this time, but that wasn’t your mother. Do you recall anything from your childhood?”
“Hmm, I remember when I was little and I had nightmares, my mo—fake mom would come an—..”
“And what?”asked Tibius.
“Wait, the image is fading. No no, more like becoming clearer. It isn’t even looking like her anymore. No one ever came to me. Wait no, a light. A bright light was always near me. That’s why I wasn’t scared, it made me feel secure.”
“And have you seen this light before?”
“Ever since I came here. It has always appeared in clutch situations.”
“That might be a sign then. Wait for me, I gotta show you something.”
Eve was still too shocked. She couldn’t really grasp everything that was happening cause it all felt too unreal. She didn’t have time to think more about it cause Tibius was back in an instant. With something in his hands.
“This is a rune I’ve been given by Lirius, he said I had to give it to the right person to read cause only the one knew how to read it. And I think we all know who that person is.” said Tibius.
Eve took the rune from Tibius, unfolded it and started reading it. It read:
