Chapter Forty Six - Wrecked
The adventurers rode their horses south towards Port Anna. They were travelling along the main road. Jason started to smell smoke. Ahead, they could see plumes of black smoke coming from the direction of Port Anna. Jason picked up speed and galloped with Bronson the rest of the way.
Jason arrived at the outskirts of the town and his fears were confirmed. The city was smouldering. The houses had been trampled underneath massive footprints. The city was covered in ash and soot. The ruined houses were smoking gently. Small fires still burned in some areas of the town. Jason looked towards the docks and went pale.
Every single ship had been sunk. They jutted out from the shallow water. Jason saw the king’s barge broken in half. The front and back half were now diagonally sticking out of the water. Some boats were still on fire too, the planks and sails were gently burning slowly.
Jason swore and kept looking for survivors.
The rest of his party arrived and tied up the horses in the town square. A few hours passed and Jason and his friends had extracted a few survivors.
The frost wizard used his magic to put out any remaining fires on the land.
After saving everyone they could, the ice mage opened the portal home. The refugees and the knights, and Jason, went inside to deliver the bad news.

Jason arrived in the flower garden, he walked Bronson through the portal. He then mounted Bronson and trotted quickly into town. He dismounted his horse outside the king’s manor and the guards let him inside.
“Lord Jason, has my boat arrived?” The King asked.
“The dragon has razed Port Anna to the ground. No ship remains.” Jason said sadly. The king thought for a moment.
“That was a really expensive boat.” The king said angrily. “Can it be salvaged?”
“Sorry, my liege.” Jason said, “It was in two different pieces.” The king then looked at a painting on his wall. There was a giant sailing ship there, with a large gold ramming cap on the front of the ship. The king pondered.
“One hundred years ago, my grandfather owned this ship. The Admiral.” The king explained. “He loved this vessel so much he had it sunk when he died. It was part of his legacy, and he didn’t want it to be sunk in battle. It should be in one piece at the bottom of Horseshoe Lake.”
“The lake in Buttermilk?” Jason asked. He had been fishing at Horseshoe Lake since he was a child.
“It is an old family secret.” The king said slowly. “I am going to lift the ship from the lake and we shall use it instead. Thank you Jason, that will be all.” The king said.
