Chapter Forty Nine - The Human Man

Dominic sat on Nate’s couch next to Rodon and Barraud. They were watching a play on the Scrying Orb. An elf girl was currently doing ballet while she fought against a man dressed like a vampire. It was a low-quality production.

“This actor sucks.” The Don shouted.

“Oh no, don’t bite her!” Barraud shouted at the scrying orb as the vampire tried to bite his victim.

Nathaniel entered through the front door carrying a very large bag of ingredients. Dominic got up from the couch and hopped onto the dining table.

“Alright, did you get everything?” The Don asked.

“I got everything on this list I could find.” Nathaniel shared. “The only thing I couldn’t find was the striped bone-fang venom. We might have to go hunt some snakes.”

“Shit.” Dominic cursed. “They don’t have any snake shops around here do they?”

“They sell some snakes in the shop upstairs, but they don’t sell any striped bone-fangs.” Nathaniel said. “Bone fangs are only found in the south ocean. We would have to travel to Port Anna and go for a swim.”

“Well, can we do that?” The Don asked Nathaniel. Nathaniel looked at the small cat. He was helpless.

“Yeah, sure. I can help you.” Nathaniel said, begrudgingly. He felt good helping.

The cat walked to the front door and started scratching at it. Nathaniel laughed softly and opened the door. They both walked outside.

The Don led Nathaniel to the stables, and the cat pounced onto a horse’s saddle.

“Ready to go when you are, big boss.” The Don said.

“Alright then, let’s go.” Nathaniel said, as he mounted the horse. He put the cat in his lap and it sank its claws into the leather saddle.

Nathaniel and The Don started riding out of the castle.

Two days later, they arrived in Port Anna. Nathaniel and the Don walked through the abandoned village. The townspeople had decided to flee instead of rebuild.

They walked through the quiet town and Nathaniel saw a canoe upside down on the beach. It was tied to a dock by a rope. Nathaniel found some oars on another boat that was splintered and crushed. He put the oars in the boat with the cat and started to row beyond the shore. The waves were quiet and soft, so Nathaniel didn’t have much trouble getting out to a reef.

“Now what?” The Don asked. Nathaniel lowered the anchor and pulled out a fishing rod from his bag of holding. He attached a worm to it and cast out his line.

“Now we stay here until we catch a Striped Bone-Fang.” Nathaniel leaned against the side of the boat and relaxed.

“Bother.” The cat said.

Several hours passed. Nate caught a few tropical fish, which he turned into more bait by cutting them up. Finally Nathaniel pulled up a striped sea serpent and he grabbed it by the neck. He put the snake’s mouth against an empty glass jar. The top of the jar was sealed by a thin piece of wax paper tied by string. The necromancer grabbed the snake’s head and made the fangs stab into the parchment on the top of the Jar. The venom leaked from the fangs into the jar.

Dominic looked at the snake venom in disgust. It was a combination of purple and blue. The striped serpent had begun to coil around Nathaniel’s arm. Nathaniel was fine though, he knew how to handle snakes. After the venom stopped being produced Nathaniel simply uncoiled the snake and tossed it twenty metres away from the boat. It hit the water with a satisfying whack and swam under the water. The snake was very thankful to be back in the ocean.

Nathaniel took out a jar lid from his bag and re-sealed the jar. He shook the jar in Dominic’s face and then put it into his bag of holding. He picked up the anchor and started to row the boat to shore.

Nathaniel and the Don galloped into the Castle a few days later. The cat was singing on his perch on the saddle.

“My lady is a devil,

She tastes like fire and metal!”

The villagers looked at the smiling necromancer and the singing cat with weird smiles. It was an unusual combination. Nathaniel rushed inside his home and started to brew a potion.

The cat paced nervously on the table as Nathaniel worked.

The cat fell asleep and was woken rudely a short while later by a pat on the head. Nathaniel had finished the potion. He showed a bubbling vial of purple drink to the cat.

“It’s finished?” Dominic asked, he looked at his two front paws like they were his hands.

“It’s finished.” Nathaniel looked very proud of himself. He poured the fluid into a bowl and the cat started to drink. It cleaned the bowl and started licking the edges.

The cat soon grew drowsy and fell asleep. The Don awoke moments later with a splitting headache.

He opened his eyes and looked at his body. He saw human hands and human feet. His torso was full of abs and he had a very muscular chest. He was completely naked.

Dominic jumped to his feet, feely a bit woozy, and he hugged Nathaniel tight.

“Dude! I’m a Human again!” Dominic shouted. A few tears fell from his eyes.

“Bro, you are fully naked.” Nate said, patting the naked, handsome Dominic on the back.

“I owe you my life, dude.” Dominic said, hugging Nate even closer. Nathaniel blushed.

“It’s… It’s okay.” Nathaniel said gingerly. Nathaniel handed him a pair of black pants and a dark wool shirt.

Dominic was a handsome tall man, about thirty years old. He was quite muscular and tan. He had piercing eyes and the face of a prince. Light stubble adorned his face and his hair was shoulder-length and perfectly wavy. He put on some pants, but skipped the shirt, and then walked out the front door. He spread his arms wide and shouted.

“Hello world, it’s me again!” He then started walking out. “And hello, ladies.” he said as some maidens walking past caught sight of the Adonis walking past them with rippling muscles. The girls all blushed. The Don left to go explore the city with his human eyes.

Nathaniel paused for a moment and then decided to follow and he quickly caught up with him. Dominic was already talking to some girls on a bench just around the corner. The girls were around the same age as them.

“...And this stud! I can’t forget Lord Nathaniel. Come over here and meet Wendy and Caitlyn.” Dominic said as he gestured for Nathaniel to approach. Nathaniel shook their hands and Caitlyn checked him out.

“Nice tattoos,” Caitlyn said to Nate, he blushed.

“Thanks, I like yours too.” he said, and pointed to the roses she had inked on her arm.

This made her smile.

“Would you ladies like to go drinking with some real Lords?” Dominic said with a sly smile, he put his arm around Nathaniel and winked at the ladies.

Nathaniel, The Don and the two girls sat in a tavern booth giggling as they talked about their adventures. They were sipping on jugs of ale and Caitlyn kept staring at Nate seductively.

Nathaniel couldn’t stop himself from smiling. ‘Fuck yeah’, he thought to himself. Everyone at the table was joking with each other.

“You were a fucking cat.” Nathaniel said drunkenly, the whole table erupted into laughter. The Don kept smacking his palm against the table trying to stop laughing.
