“guess it’s time, huh?”
He sighed in defeat. Byron, weakly, sat down on his bed.
He knew that his time had come he could feel it Byron knew this day would come.
But he didn’t think it’d come when things were looking up for him.
He didn’t want to be a sewer cleaner; it paid little, but he had little of a choice.
Byron learned of Blackburn's ruthlessness when he got stabbed in the knee just for glancing at the wrong person.
His life only went downhill from there, because of his injury he couldn’t do normal work pushed by circumstances Byron had to work in the sewers.
He cursed fate he cursed the gods he cursed the world for not giving him a chance, Byron learned one thing from all of his misfortune he learned he was weak, if only he had the strength to achieve his dreams.
He wouldn’t have ended up as he is now if only he had the strength to stand up for himself, he wouldn’t have become who he is now.
A complete nobody, living in the sewers barely surviving he closed his eyes full of hatred regret, and sorrow.

[Do you wish to live?]
Byron didn’t have the energy to think about if he should answer or not his life force was draining.
“yes..” he rasped.
A burst of grey light engulfed him, Byron felt his wounds healing the wrinkles on his skin disappeared his eyes took on a light shade of grey.

[Host is now level 1]
A small amount of information entered Byron’s mind it taught him the basic functions of the system and how to operate and use its menus.
‘status’ he thought

Byron's eyes bulged as he looked at his status screen.
He was beyond shocked; the system had not only healed him it also made him a rank 1 Adventurer, Byron knew this because only rank 1 Adventurer had super strength and intellect it had even awakened his idea and turned it into two skills. He now had the power to grow stronger just by killing things.
Such terrifying power, not even the 5 gods could do such a thing.
He didn’t know such a thing was possible he thought only one path to power existed only now did he realize how narrow-minded he was.
Byron knew that concepts and ideas no longer existed for him only skills did, but he minded little that he may not advance on the path to power like everyone else did.
That only made him feel more unique.
“Thank you! Thank you!” he cried with more joy and thankfulness than he knew he had.

Byron was a little surprised at the second quest, whoever made this system wanted it to spread he knew it would cause chaos and troublesome times were ahead.
And he would be the instigator, Byron didn’t feel bad though, even though he grew up in Blackburns it wasn’t in the central or noble district it was in the slums as an orphan.
Once people Learned it was him spreading the system, they’d try to capture him Byron would not let that happen.
‘inventory’ he mentally called, instantly a small grid popped up in the corner of his left eye Byron saw the system tokens were grey coins, very similar to the mythical platinum coins he’d seen once.
‘this could work! I could leave them at random places all over Blackburns nobody would link them to me after all I’m ‘‘New” the old me was a scrawny old man who worked in the swears’.
Nobody would miss him or even ask where he was. ’I would be surprised if they even noticed I was gone.
‘I already planned to kill Thorire, the system rewarding me for doing it is just a bonus ‘ he thought ‘I’d like to know what my two new skills do though I’ll mentally stimulate it and see what happens
Ding!
Information flooded his mind on how to use and invoke the skills using each skill cost 1 soul per cast, Byron was elated that most rank 1 Adventurers could only use their fundamental concept 3 times a day.
yet he could use his as long as his soul bar wasn’t empty his love for this system grew exploded.
“Hahaha, this is my time to rise! The world didn’t abandon me after all.”
His voice echoed throughout the empty tunnel startling a few rats who squeed and ran away Byron chuckled, even though his voice was more powerful he couldn’t wait to test out his newfound strength.
Byron changed into his worn-out leather armor he found a few years ago while cleaning, he couldn’t wear it at the time because he was simply too weak he considered selling it but decided not to.
The vendors in the Blackburn market wouldn’t buy it any way they’d say he stole it. The Black market was even worse; thugs and killers roamed its and streets gang fights broke out daily.
Crime lords ruled most of Blackburn. Byron knew this but that wasn’t his problem. Just because he had power, now didn’t mean he was going to be a hero.
He’d complete the quests and get his revenge hopefully the system would have some more quests for him by then if not he’d just train his skills until something happened. It was only a matter of time after all.
