chapter 1

Renvoy awoke feeling weird, he couldn’t exactly “Feel” Renvoy knew something was off, the fact that he couldn’t feel confirmed that.

Further research led to him finding out that he had no physical body.

As far as he could tell, his current form resembled an orb, the outer layer was glossy while the insides contained a murky white substance that shone bright white.

he had no idea how he was looking at himself from a different angle, such a thing was impossible to do back on earth.

As the name earth found itself in his mind something that was keeping back his memories broke.

Memories of what happened before he lost Conscious came flooding in, but no matter how much he wanted to panic or scream for help, it just wouldn’t work.

He felt like his emotions were being suppressed, somehow.

He died, something killed him, and from the looks of it, the entire world had died too.

The realization made the light in his orb dim.

He hurriedly surveyed his surroundings, looking for any signs of life or clues that would suggest that all this was a bad dream or a prank.

He didn’t find any.

What greeted him was not the sight of his room, or someone laughing at him, what greeted him was darkness.

Darkness so vast and heavy it threatened to crush his current form out of existence, yet it felt so familiar.

It felt like a lost finger or his missing dog coming back, it felt so nice, so comfortable.

He never had a favorite color or shade, but Renvoy had always loved black. It was everywhere, always with him. It loved him more than his own family.

Though not sentient or alive, to him, it felt alive, just like any other person.

His personality kept him from having a normal life. He always wanted to be free like darkness but never had the chance.

He felt the darkness calling to him, it didn’t speak yet its voice sounded heavenly; it didn’t move yet Renvoy felt like it moving around him with God-Like dexterity.

Renvoy let his orb flow freely in the darkness.

The instant it made contact with it, the glass-like material that made its outer layer broke, and the white substance that was inside gushed forth and was quickly fused with the hovering mass of darkness.

And with that, the system left.

Time passed, the mass of darkness that was hovering where Renvoy’s soul once had grown in this period.

More time passed, darkness grew and shrank in size over this time until it finally stabilized.

With a satisfying crack, it fell apart, black liquid oozed out rapidly, it twisted and churned strangely.

“Ugh, what the hell was all that?”

The broken shards of darkness responded, filling him in on what had taken place after he’d embraced the darkness.

Renvoy was temporarily stunned.

The darkness had talked to him, Well, not talk, but showed him images of what happened.

that suggested it had some form of intelligence, whatever it was, he couldn’t dwell on that right now but he noted it down.

The system he was supposed to get had also left him, but he didn’t feel bad, quite the opposite, He was glad it had left him.

He never liked systems, to begin with. Systems were just too suspicious and downright creepy.

He always thought of them to be some multiversal parasite going to alternative universes to look for new hosts to grow its power.

He was glad the darkness saved him, although the system left him for dead in a pocket dimension, it did not affect him at all, being alone wasn’t a big deal anymore.

His very soul had been reborn, such small things didn’t bother him.

That said, he still wanted to get out, so he called upon darkness, and it responded happily.

Darkness swirled and twisted into the form of a portal.

He wasn’t sure what was on the other side, but he had no other choice at the moment.

He went through and what greeted him was a barren wasteland filled with black sand and strange bipedal lizards everywhere.

Renvoy didn’t expect such a strange sight, then again, he didn’t know what to expect after stepping through a strange portal.

The same black sand stretched as far as he could see.

The sun hung high overhead, its heat made the air around him feel heavy.

It had a strange and otherworldly and dangerous like it was actively trying to kill or suppress him.

He almost considered going back, but he could not.

The portal had winked out of existence the moment he stepped through.

He sighed dejectedly, but only strange gurgling sounds came out.

Some of the strange lizards looked around but saw nothing.

They shrugged and kept on walking. Puzzled, Renvoy finally looked at his body, if he could even call it that.

He didn’t even have a body anymore, just a hovering mass of black goo, swinging and bending in odd shapes.

‘Well, would you look at that, first me dying, the system leaving me, and now this,’ Renvoy thought grimly, ‘I’m not even Renvoy anymore. He died in that pocket dimension from here on out. This world shall know me as black’

*Pang*

An explosion went off in the depths of black’s soul, a small, tiny explosion, he didn’t know now, but that tiny explosion signified the end of all things.

After naming himself Black felt different, the surrounding air no longer felt otherworldly, the sun’s heat didn’t feel like it was actively trying to cook him anymore.

Black willed his darkness to form a small spherical ball. It was remarkably easy for him to do.

He then created three more and filled them with basic instructions on how to collect and store data. As soon as he did, he sent them flying.

He felt a mental link forming between him and the three spherical balls. As soon as it fully formed, he felt information overwhelm his poor soul, and he blanked out.
