Black slipped between being thoroughly awake and semi-conscious.
His soul felt heavy and bloated, like it was on the verge of breaking apart.
He was barely able to keep himself awake, it took all his willpower, his view of the outside world was muddy and illusionary.
He was so curious about himself and his new power that he forgot safety and caution, leading to his current predicament.
He floated there, helpless, time passed, and he felt his soul expanding, the pain got more bearable every time his soul grew.
His soul was his body, so it grew as well, but not by much.
Clarity and awareness returned with each expansion, the amount of willpower required to stay conscious also decreased significantly.
The real changes were happening inside him, Black immediately had the urge to explore what was going inside but held himself back, unchecked curiosity led to his current predicament, Black didn’t want to be in such a sorry state again.
More time passed, his soul expanded until it wasn’t on the verge of breaking apart.
He finally took the time to examine himself, he no longer had a human body, though he already guessed as much when he stepped through the portal and was floating.
Being able to fly would be considered an exceptional superpower back on earth, many people would give anything to attain such a power, he was among those people.
Now though, he had it, it wasn’t much, all things considered, Black considered the old him silly for wanting such a power now.
Black stopped wasting time and went back to his original objective.
He closed his eyes and focused, his vision shifted, Black was now looking at his “Body” in third person mode, he discovered this ability in the system’s pocket dimension.
He named it vision shift.
His body was a shifting mass of darkness that seemed to devour all the surrounding light, the dark sand beneath him paled in comparison.
It shifted states randomly, jumping from being a solid to a liquid and then to a gas.
Black felt he could control what state he was in at will, so he didn’t dwell on the matter, but he found it very cool and was already thinking of ways to employ this in battle or if need be.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
Satisfied with the physical aspect of his body, he moved on to the spiritual aspects to learn more.
He shifted his form into that of a solid square block and tried to enter a meditative state.
Time passed, at first, nothing happened, he waited some more.
His form vibrated subtly, the world faded away, he felt his consciousness being pulled upon.
He focused on the pulling sensation and information enter his mind and neatly organized itself.
It amazed black how easily he did that; he thought he had to go to the depths of his soul and search for the information he received.
He was sure he had to do that someday, as this was just the very surface of the information he had gotten.
He called upon the information and felt it being devoured and sent directly to the depths of his soul.
Black noticed a change instantly, he could now recall the devoured information as if it was a memory and it always had been there.
His body also grew a little.
Black was sure he could do more than just that but took it gradually.
He didn’t know what would happen if he ate too much at once and didn’t want to find out.
He now knew that he was located in the void desert on the edge of the Eskra continent and it was moderately dangerous, only void lizards and void worms live here.
Black expected such monsters to be super strong considering they all had “void” in their names, but that wasn’t the case.
Only rank 0 adventurers would come here to grow their idea seed into a rank 1 concept
In this world, you could only attain power by turning an idea into a concept you’d first need to plant the idea in your soul based on the idea you plant different effects would take place if someone planted the idea of freezing fire he or she would become lightly more cold-hearted and fussy, they would also be marginally more resistant to fire and ice but not everyone could plant an idea in their soul.
One would first need to kill a beast and absorb its mana to awaken your soul, then plant your idea.
Only by understanding an idea and the other ideas that make up your idea thoroughly could you advance and become a rank 1 adventurer.
Rank 0 adventures could only use their idea in minor ways, an adventure with the idea of fire that burns forever could only use such a high concept once a day and they would damage their souls.
He was satisfied with what he learned from the small amount of information he ate.
He wanted to review more but knew this wasn’t the right place to look over so much information, plus he needed somewhere to call home, even if it was temporary.
So he focused and willed a small part of his body to stretch out and expand until it was the size of a small house. After he hollowed out the insides and willed the walls to solidify, it was remarkably easy.
Black guessed it was because of him being an eldritch horror and his soul being limitless.
Unsurprisingly, the house he made floated as well. It didn’t even have a shadow, Black observed.
Black still wanted to see if his strange body still interacted with the physical world, so he willed it to float over to a nearby Void lizard.
He stopped it halfway to see if it would react, but it didn’t.
He drifted it closer and closer until it whisked on the Void lizard’s head.
It reacted immediately, making strange hissing sounds and confused looks when it Saw nothing.
It prepared to run away, but black had already prepared for a situation like that and willed the house to float down with greater speed before it promptly crushed it.
