As I selected Draco Sapiens as my evolution, my body began to change greatly. The agony was even greater than the last time, and I fell to the floor, trembling.
My size began to shrink considerably, and yet my weight did not decrease at all. I felt my scales shrink to match the size of my body, until every individual scale needed a closer look to be seen. Each of them smooth and malleable, yet strong enough to shatter my previous claws and teeth. Said claws and teeth fell to the floor, as I quaked on the floor in pain, taking in the changes.
My tail grew smaller and smaller, until it was roughly the length of my arm, with five times the muscle and control. A sharp, wicked point grew at the end of my tail, with a smooth edge surrounding it like a flat tooth with a shining tip.
My new claws slowly moved to the top of my fingers, easily retracting to allow me to touch and grasp objects with my blunt fingertips, with the fingers closest to my chest pointing against the hand holding it.
Slowly, the pain began to recede, and I was able to take in the changes.

“Woah…”
My stats are insane. I have a new racial trait and a new title. I got a new section with a class and my name was moved above my species. I have something called a Divinity Shard. There is so much to check out!
“Oooooh, this is going to be fun!” I giggled excitedly as I took it all in.
[Divine Shards]
A critical component to obtaining divinity. Who knows how many of these you need to take your place amongst the gods?
[Sapient Creature]
You belong to a species of sapient creatures. Congratulations! You may now experience existential dread, crushed dreams, deceit, among other forms of suffering exclusive to sapient beings!
[Draconic Sorcery]
As a result of being a member of the Draconic evolutionary tree, you possess a natural affinity for magic. You can reach heights lesser creatures could never dream of.
[Progenitor]
Abyssal Drakelings are known for their ambition, and yet your accomplishments have soared beyond what any other drakeling could dream of. You are the first of your race, and your words carry greater weight among your descendants.
Creatures of your lineage are more likely to hold favorable opinions of you. [Divinity Shard] granted.
[Appraisal Lv. 5] has been upgraded to [Appraisal Lv. 6]!
These are all great to have, with the exception of one small problem…
“How is any of this useful to me now?! How will any of this keep the teeth of those monstrosities off of me or get me to the first layer?! Damn you System, you’ve buried me!”
***
Clank!
As expected, my claws bounced off of the froststone walls, meaning I can’t climb up the way I fell. Sigh.
Oh well. Time to leave the hard way.
***
The pit that I fell into was about 5 meters deeper than the ground level, and it went through the ceiling directly upwards, so my body was not visible when looked at from the outside. Stepping out of the pit, I immediately notice that harsh winds and layers of frost and snow covering the floor and permeating throughout the tunnel.
“Strange. How is the weather so violent here?” I wondered, walking throughout the tunnels.
Staying close to the walls, I followed the tunnels to their end, and eventually arrived at another “great cavern.” Snow was blowing everywhere, and the winds were truly howling. It was difficult to see a long distance ahead of me, and I saw a sea of white ahead, but I saw a massive silhouette approaching at an angle.
“Best to hide lest this creature spots me. Might as well take a look at what these supposed monstrosities look like.”
What was waiting for me was a white monstrosity I could barely comprehend.
[Abyssal Frost Tyrannosaurus Rex]
HP: 35650/35650
MP: 1420/1420
SP: 4870/4870
Rank B creature. Possesses monstrous strength and an even more ferocious bite, the Abyssal Frost Tyrannosaurus Rex uses ice elemental magic to slow down its prey and harass it until it is within jaw’s reach.
My heart leaped to my throat, and the white horror walked past my tunnel and continued on its way. Just as it was about to escape my sight, it was suddenly attacked from the air by another giant horror!
[Abyssal Frost Eagle]
HP: 12310/12310
MP: 3470/3470
SP: 3250/3250
Rank B creature. An apex predator, the Abyssal Frost Eagle possess a keen eyesight, sharp claws, and a deadly beak. The Abyssal Frost Eagle typically dives from the air upon unsuspecting prey it can spot from tens of miles away during the roughest of snowstorms, dealing devastating damage. Should its target manage to survive, it can continue alternating between hammering it with ice magic and assaulting it with its ferocious claws and beak powered – powered by a blinding dive courtesy of its massive wings. There is no escape from this monster for any Rank B or lower creatures.
The eagle struck onto the Rex’s back, tearing large chunks of flesh out from its target.
“ROOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!” the Rex growled!
It turned toward the Eagle and lunged with its jaws wide open so quickly as to leave an afterimage! The Eagle was not one bit slower, and rose to the sky, roaring back in challenge of the Rex!
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!”
A soft blue light began to emanate from the Rex’s mouth and the Eagle’s wings, and a blinding light suddenly flooded my eyes! A moment after, a loud boom reached me, the wind taking me off my feet and slamming me into the nearest tunnel wall! Entranced, I went back to the tunnel’s entrance to witness the clash of the titans ahead of me.
Eventually, the Rex was no longer able to attack with its ice magic and couldn’t reach the Eagle which was in the sky. It tried to retreat, but the Eagle’s eye glimmered with malice then with the same soft blue light! Another beam was launched and struck the fleeing Rex in the back of the head, exploding into tiny bits! The carcass of the Rex crashed on the snow, as dead as a dungeon rock. The Eagle landed on its prey and began to look around. Soon, it spotted me, and we stared at each other.
Oh no.
