Tec Mage Chapter Thirty Four: The Four Jacks

The long day had surrendered to the cold night and the first day of the rebuilding project was over, the gnolls had left the city to go back to their family's warm embrace and the homeless was in make shift wooden huts hoping for better days

The building project had found it's footing, with the clearing of the old ruins, Atlas and his helpers was able to work efficiently and quick

A building first needed a core to build on, without a foundation it would fall like a house of cards, with the help of Atlas turning the ground into sand everyone found it easy to dig the basements and foundations.

The sand that was pulled from the ground wasn't discarded but instead turned back in to earth then transformed in to stone and finally shaped into roof tiles by Atlas's magic

At the end of the day the project had proceed to the point of the foundations being complete and the basement walls erected. This was not all to the building, every stone in the building had been compressed by Atlas magic, each stone had lost 20% of it's size but gained a great density that could rival granite. This alone would cause a powerful structure that would be hard to damage but Atlas had used more magic on the stones, each stone had a individual enchant on them, the enchantment was seal.

* Seal Enchantment Beginning Level 6

Seal can be used as a lock or bind but few knew that it can block time, seal is a enchantment that places the item in it's own time and so it can't be interfered with until the item lose it's power but this doesn't make it indestructible when the item that has the enchantment seal is destroyed so is the enchantment

Higher levels cause stronger seals and special bonuses, Master level seal enchantments have been tested by dipping them in volcanoes for years and survived with out a scratch

Atlas had practised with the enchantment seal and found it to be completely useless on weapons, when placed in it's own time the weapon wouldn't lose durability but it would lose it's edge and no longer could cut or cause any real damage but for stones it was perfect

The added bonus to seal was the combination of the enchantments, if there was two stones that had seal on it placed next to each other then the two enchantments would meld in to a protective energy, this meant that if one seal enchantment weakened then the remaining seal enchantments would lend their energy and protect the week link

Atlas had tested the seal with a wall made of stone, with a hammer he beat on a single stone piece belonging to the wall until the the seal enchantment energy weakened, watching the wall Atlas could see the energy from the other seals dim and pour some of their energy into the weakened stone, Atlas made a guess that 20% of the wall would have to be destroyed at the same time before the seal enchantments would fade, after a day the enchantments would recharge and gain their power back

Atlas was satisfied with the work that had already been done and the new application of the enchantment seal. Atlas had gone back to the gnolls under ground home to  continue work, The next four days passed in the same way. during the day the homeless, gnolls and Atlas would work on the building site and during the night when the gnolls and homeless went to sleep Atlas would read and invent new things using his magic and skills

On the forth night Atlas was at his desk, he had his old pair of steel level one boots resting on his desk with assorted gems of different cuts and sizes and some Mithril metal lying next to the boots

With the help of the gnolls Atlas found out that cut and treated gems held more mana than raw gems, with some practice Atlas enchanted the gem stones with spells, the first stone was enchanted with the spell Ball Of Fog, Atlas was always able to enchant things with spells but the items never had enough mana to cast the spell but now he was able to store mana in gems, he hoped that it would be enough to activate the spell using stored mana, as this was Atlas first time messing with a power supple and spells he used the most harmless spell he had

Each spell that was grafted on to a full mana gem did nothing unless prompted by a small amount of mana, when Atlas touched the gem while controlling his mana the gem casted the spell on it's own, a white mist flowed out from the gem

"SUCCESS" Atlas was joyful in his heart, nothing seemed to give him as much pleasure as creating something that worked

With new success Atlas moved forward with his project, the properties for Mithril was that it conducted magic very well so Atlas melted and formed a Mithril cage to hold a enchanted mana gem within, this made it so much easier to activate the spell grafted on the gem. Then with the help of a gnoll who had learnt tailoring Atlas had the gem fixed to the bottom of the shoe, the gem Atlas used was a new gem that had gust grafted on it, if Atlas had done everything right he had made a pair of rocket boots

Out side the gnolls home was the deep forest, this was the place that Atlas was going to test the boots, Atlas didn't want to cause any damage to the gnoll's or their home and so he would test the boots here.

Atlas was sure that no players was going to disturb him, it was night time and monsters gained a increase in power but he was safer than most in the forest, after building a good relationship with the animals of the forest they no longer saw Atlas as a enemy or considered him food

With the rocket boots on his feet Atlas used his mana to activate the boots, success, the boots emitted a steady stream of gust magic but the spell wasn't enough to cause a lift, the spell wasn't strong enough and/or Atlas weighed to much

Atlas tried a different mana gem in his boots, he swapped the gust mana gem and replaced it with a fire trap mana gem

"OK, 2nd attempt" pouring mana to his legs the spell in the gem activated instantly

"BOOM"

Atlas had left the ground and crashed in to a tree, falling from the tree Atlas hit three branches on the way down

* +1 to Fortitude

Falling to the ground Atlas landed in a bush, not all Atlas inventions were a success and this one was a dud, the gust spell wasn't strong enough and his fire trap had broken his ankles and knees from the force of the lift off.

Pushing down on his gauntlets Atlas was healed when the red liquid in the gauntlet entered his body, feeling embarrassed Atlas was glad he had tested the boots out side and not in the gnolls home, Atlas removed the boots and re-equipped the Razor Fin boots, he replaced the gust mana gem into the boots and placed them on his table, even though his rocket boots idea didn't work out the spell grafted mana gems did

Atlas went on to work on other thing such as darts made from gem flakes and the skill soul drain grafted on them, this was a nasty invention, when fired out of Atlas hollow spiked gauntlets they would look like a normal dart but as soon as it hit it's target the shaft would come lose and only the gem flaked head would remain in side of the targets body, nothing would happen until the target used their mana in a skill and the gem in their body would activate and start to mana drain, the skill in the gem costed mana but would also be recharged by the targets mana, a nasty cycle of casting, recharging then recasting over and over, with this in effect it stopped any mana regeneration and if there was many darts in the victim it would cause a drain on the target mana pool

Just then Atlas could hear cheering coming down from the tunnels, it was late but there were many gnolls still awake as they used to be night hunters, looking up Atlas notice his mana gem gust boots had disappeared

"Who took my boots" asked Atlas to the air

A mana mouse answered his masters call poking his nose out it squicked to get the attention of Atlas, gently Atlas touched the mana mouse and went though the little creatures memory, in no time at all Atlas found what he was looking for, in the mana mouse memory Atlas witnessed a gnoll child pick up his boots and run down towards the colosseum

Children will be children but Atlas did need his boots, even though they were level 1 boots Atlas had just modified them and now they held Mithril and gems, that alone meant that the boots now cost over 500 gold but it wasn't the cost that Atlas was worried about it was that the boots were a prototype and could cause problems

Walking down to the colosseum Atlas could see that in the sitting quarters held many gnolls that were cheering, he even saw Nelious and his spirit comrades hovering over the colosseum clapping

Making his way to the front Atlas was shocked at what he saw, a young gnoll was moving like the wind on top of the water surface, the young gnoll had such a pleasing smile on his face, it reminded Atlas of how a dog would put it's head out of a moving car window just to catch the wind with it's mouth, every time the young adult gnoll passed by the stands he had his head held high, this young gnoll was lapping up the attention he was receiving from the crowd, that was until he saw Atlas in the crowd, Atlas was the only human standing with the gnolls and he was the only one wearing non metal armour

As soon as the young gnoll saw Atlas his perky dog ears fell flat to his head and he lowered his head while trying not to gain eye contact, he skidded off the water surface and landed on the dry land

Atlas notice before the young gnoll tried to make him self as small as he could by curling up that the young gnoll had his boots equipped

The boots were a failure as rocket boots but with the weight of the user partly displaced in water it worked as a jet powered boots

Atlas didn't want to cause difficulties to the young gnoll, demanding the boots back in front of the other gnolls would bring shame on the young gnoll, instead Atlas just pointed at the young gnoll and waved his hand to gesture that the young gnoll should follow him

Back at his desk Atlas was sitting and wondering what he should say to this young gnoll,"why did he take the boots with out asking" thought Atlas, the young gnoll was standing and fidgeting while bowing his head, the boots were now resting on Atlas table

Atlas couldn't allow this to go unpunished but he didn't know what to do, the gnolls had done everything he had said and they had prospered, food was abundant, more and more gnolls were finding there way with work but what Atlas had forgotten was when a civilization grew they needed more than just food, they needed entertainment

Atlas wasn't stupid, he knew there was a reason behind what the young gnoll did and so he asked why

The young gnoll shuffled his feet about and just shrugged his shoulders "I don't know" he was talking towards the floor and still wasn't looking at Atlas face "I was bored"

This young gnoll was at a age where he was no longer a child, he was at a cross road from the playing actions of a child to the responsibility of a adult, he was naturally confused, the young gnoll was unhappy, he had played as a child and now he was expected to work as a adult, he felt that there had to be more to life than work

It took a few try's for the gnoll to explain how he felt, being a teenager he had trouble expressing him self

"Then i saw you out side with your boots and i had the idea of having some fun with the boots, i was going to bring them back i just wanted to have some fun and not think life is all about work" said the young gnoll

Atlas didn't hate what the gnoll was saying but he couldn't just leave this matter, he wondered how many other gnolls felt the same or how many in the future would feel the same

"OK, you can leave for now, i need to think about what you have done and a suitable punishment, come back in the morning" said Atlas

"BUT ALPHA" the young gnoll lifted his head and spoke out, Atlas was sometimes refereed to as Alpha, a leader that wasn't the official leader but had gained massive respect from the gnolls

The young gnoll quickly closed his mouth and just said "yes alpha" he quickly left with out saying another word

Atlas watched as the gnoll left, he then picked up a pencil and wrote a note, it was a small note that he fixed to a mana mouse, whispering in the mana mouse ear he told it to deliver the not to the tailor gnoll

After the mana mouse had left his sight Atlas pulled a book towards him self and started to read it

Reading a whole book took a faction of time for Atlas all thanks to two skills

* Perceptual Chronometer Intermediate level 5Slows down the perspective of time allowing for more time to thinkmoment speed is 50% faster but the minds speed is 450% faster

* Bookworm Intermediate level 5Reading speed will increase by 450%

On their own each one of these skills would increase the speed of reading but both at the same time had a multiply effect on each other, if some one was watching Atlas reading while using these skill it would appear that he was carelessly flipping though the pages, even though Atlas reading speed had increased his contemplation of the written works wasn't any higher, he still needed to read the book at least 3 times before he remembered and understood the book

When Atlas was reading Loki came to see him, Atlas marked the page and closed the book, Atlas hadn't seen Loki for awhile, the last time he had saw Loki was when he was mining

Loki slumped in to a chair and dropped his pickaxe to the side of the arm rest, his whole attitude suggested he didn't know what to do with him self

"What's wrong" asked Atlas

"Nothing is wrong, it's just I've completed my tunnel and now i don't know what to do" replied Loki

"Oh your tunnel" Atlas had forgotten about Loki's tunnel "Where does it lead to" asked Atlas

"All the way though" answered Loki

"Though the mountain" asked Atlas

Loki just nodded while rested his head on the table

The kingdom of Ledern that Atlas started out in was land locked from the sea but it also was separated from other kingdoms by a massive mountain range equal to the himalayas of the real word, this mountain range kept the Ledern kingdom safe from other kingdoms invasions but it also made trade nearly impossible, with such high peaks and dangerous monsters living on the mountain it was too cost effective to hire solders and players only to bring their goods over to Ledern kingdom but unintentionally Loki had made a simply tunnel that could by pass the mountain all together

"Why not try your hand at trade, with your tunnel you could reach towns and city's that others can not" Atlas pointed out

Loki lifted his head a little, there was a small smile on his face but then he lowered it again and rest his head back down

"I don't have the capital" Loki was feeling let down and the tone in his voice said it all

"I will give you your capital, but i think you will have to pay a small tax on using the gnolls tunnels" explained Atlas

Loki lifted his head quickly "but i made the tunnel, why do i have to pay tax on it"

"It's still the gnolls home, every time you use the tunnels your walking though a safe area that the gnolls made safe, that's why i said a small tax, only 2% maybe" answered Atlas

"I could do that but i could go on a adventure" said Loki

"Well until you make your choice, how about making a new tunnel from here to the city, with the gnolls in the city i think an escape plan for them would be smart" asked Atlas

"Sure, I'll get to work on it and it should be much quicker with the gnolls being much more capable at mining than before" answered Loki

With Loki unable to decide he logged out and left Atlas to read until morning, when the first rays of light of the new day hit the forest Atlas was visited by the young gnoll

The young gnoll shuffled his feet closer to Atlas table, it was clear he didn't want to be here but he didn't dare disobey

"I've been thinking about what to do with you, i realise that you did what you did was because all work and no play makes a tired existence" as Atlas spoke the young gnoll held his head down only sometimes would the gnoll take a peek at Atlas

"I've decided your punishment is..." the young gnoll held it's breath waiting for Atlas verdict

"You will devise a new game involving these jet boots" Atlas pulled 10 pairs of rabbit skinned jet boots that he had ordered from the gnoll tailor, each pair was hastily made as the tailor had only started to make things

"Using the Colosseum i want to see a competitive game" said Atlas

The young gnoll looked up showing it's teeth, to Atlas this smile that the gnoll showed looked more scary than anything but Atlas had learnt to tell between the facial expressions of the gnoll and right now the young gnoll was showing signs of excitement

"But you can't use the boots until the game has all the rules and is a functional working sport, any other gnoll who takes part can use the boots freely" explained Atlas

The youngster had a confused look on his face, first he was told that he would be in charge of making a sport using the jet boots but then told he couldn't use the boots him self, it was like giving a hand of friendship but that hand turning in to a slap to the face, it was a strange punishment that would make the young gnoll put all of his attention in to the sport so it would be completed faster and he could again use the jet boots

"OK, take the boots and get started, the faster you complete it the faster you can play" Atlas handed 10 pairs of jet boots over, the gnoll left while scratching his head

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Now the morning sun had risen a new day had started and Atlas was at the building sight, the 20 homeless adults were waiting for Atlas, 4 days had passed and the work on site had taking great leaps, due to over 70% of all the gnolls learning jobs Atlas wasn't short on skilled workers

There was all kinds of jobs that the gnolls had learnt, in gem productions alone there was a polisher, cutter, bleacher and colour dyer

Even though all the gem production skills were in beginner level when Atlas checked a gem that only one gnoll worked on to a gem that all 4 gnolls had worked on it was like heaven and earth

From tailoring to wood working and stone working to painting every gnoll had a place to work and a team they belong to

Because of such a big team of gnolls and their skills the frame work of the building was coming together, the foundation, both basements and the three above ground floors had been complete, the only big thing that needed to be done was the roof

Wooded beams and floor boards  had been prepared by the gnolls using a new system of a bladed wheel being spun around using mana gems and the spell Magnetic Presence

* Magnetic Presence Intermediate Level 2Able to control magnetic forces, make metal float cause repulsion and attraction with metal, can use a program for the skill, the more complex the program the more mana will be used

Buzz saws had been created making uniformed thickness of wooden boards incredibly easy, each piece of wood had been treated by other gnolls with special gloss and polish, even the polishing was made easy by having a rag fixed on to a metal disk that rotated at high speed using mana gems

With specialist and tools that made the job quicker and easier Atlas left the roof to the gnolls and started to work on the inside of the building

It only took the gnolls a day and a half to complete the roof, after the roof was complete the building shell was finished, the roof had the same enchantments that the walls possessed, out side people were taking notice of the building, in less than a week a building had sprung up, this was not uncommon but the whole building was made of stone and was three stores tall, only the kings palace and churches could compete with how tall the shop was, soon players and NPC started to talk about the building

"I heard that a guild is making the building"

"I heard that too but what i heard was it's a NPC guild"

"Yea, have you seen those guys with the full metal armour and white hoods"

"They are weird, they must be NPC, they all wear the same armour and never stop working or get bored"

"When i tried to talk to one a giant man in blue wearing a mage hat stepped in"

"Guild leader?"

"Every night when they leave the building site they leave the city"

"How do you know"

"I followed them"

"And?"

"I.... got lost and died in the forest but my friend says that there is a small shrine in the forest that gives free potion mix when some one is injured"

"So?"

"I heard that they are priests of that shrine"

The story's were wide and different and only some of them touch the truth, the rumours spread far and wide and with in 3 days most of the city was talking about this mystery building, the out side was complete, even windows were installed and they were considered a luxury, if it was just glass no one would of taken notice but a gnoll had made stained glass and simply pattens like flowers and a setting sun were placed in the windows

Many people were staring at the shop, stained glass was definitely high class and expensive and for it to be placed in a shop was extravagant, players were taking pictures and placing them on websites rumours and story's had even reached the king and advisers ears

"What can this mean?"

"Who owns the land?"

"A freeman named Atlas"

"Is he paying the tax?"

"Yes"

"Should we raise it? if he can afford stain glass he must be rich"

"No, we need a reason to raise the tax"

"Is this the same Atlas that made a perfect Moonstone and created the magical metal Harken?"

"Yes, it seems so"

"perhaps we can get him to do some work on the church"

"I heard he is a major benefactor to the city watch"

As the days passed the outer appearance of the building changed, stain glassed windows held in place by deep brown and shiny window frames, the bottom rung of the buildings stones had a ocean wave patten carved in to it and in the front of the shop had an oak door that had been polished to such a high degree that it could be used as a mirror, either side of the door was giant windows that could show the public the shops wears, there was also a blank sign hanging over the door

The public would try to sneak a peek of the buildings from passing workers entering and leaving the building but with no luck, after another 3 days the blank sign hanging over the shops door was changed to four jacks from a pack of cards, under the picture of the four jacks was written text

"The Four Jacks"

People started to go wild, what did this sign mean, when a sign for a shop was place it signified what the shop sold, a hammer might suggest a blacksmith or a cotton  and needle would suggest a tailor

More attention was brought to the closed shop, a chalk board was being shown at one of the windows

"3 DAYS UNTIL OPENED FOR BUSINESS"

The next two days passed quickly, the wooden scaffolding was taken down and the homeless had taken down their wooden sheds from the plot of land opposite the shop, with there things packed and hanged over their shoulders they moved in to the upper levels of the shop

Walking into their new home they were all stunned, even though they had help with some of the construction their main job was heavy lifting, they just weren't skilled enough for the building cosmetic, only Atlas and some of the gnolls were aloud to work on the inside of the building and so this was there first time seeing it

The door leading to the flats was just as luxurious as the shops front door, when the homeless had walked though the door they were meet with a stunningly built stairway, small details of flowers, fruit and vines had been carved into the stair way not only that it was coated and polished to a high point, even the steps had been treated with the same care and detail

Every foot step the homeless took made them feel like they were stepping on a piece of art work, with great care the homeless walked up the stair only to be meet with Atlas standing in the way

"Welcome to your home, i will guide you" said Atlas

At this point the little homeless girl that Atlas had meet before pushed her way to the front and gripped on to Atlas hand, this scared him a bit but he had gotten used to little things like this

With Atlas leading the homeless followed, moving though the hall way the homeless was touching the walls, they were no long the coarse stone wall but smooth plastered, paster was a luxury as well, effort, time and money would go in to plastering and people weren't willing to pay for such things

Atlas opened up a door to his left, the door had a number 1 on it and this door too was as fancy as the rest, inside Atlas started to point out every thing

"Each flat has two rooms a big bed room that can be reformed in to smaller bed rooms and a kitchen/living room, this is the kitchen area" explained Atlas

It was more like a new era day kitchen, a oven, cooking pot, fridge and a sink that had running cold water, all these things had been built in to the work tops and seemed effortless part of the whole

Some of the homeless started to touch these things, a few people even jumped when the tap was turned and water gushed out

"The floor boards have enchantments on them so it will emit a small amount of heat" some of the homeless touched the floor not believing what Atlas had just said, "my workers have also made a couple of things for each of the flats, this is called a sofa and you sit on them for comfort, they have put great effort in to making these four post beds with mattress and pillows

Atlas went to the front door and pulled on some string "this is your light switch, pulling on it once will cause the light to be turned on for 1 hour, pulling on it 5 times will cause it to stay alight for 5 hours"

The light was Moonstone and had a small hammer attached to it so when the string was pulled the hammer would strike the moonstone causing light

"Now you have seen every thing here, i have some rules, 1 no fire" after the fire that burned the shop down Atlas didn't want to chance it " if there is a fire turn this nob and water will come from the ceiling and put out the fire"

"2nd one family per flat, if you need more bedrooms or items such as beds then you can order them down stairs in the shop"

"3rd Don't tell anyone you are not paying rent, this is a special cause for you and i won't extend it to others, other than that just look after the place and i won't need to say anything else

Atlas went to leave but was held back by the little girl hanging on to his arm

"Thank you mister" the little girl was crying

All the homeless people were stunned, not by the little girls tears but by the living quarters, to say fit for a king wouldn't be a lie, even though a king had servants to deal with the kings needs it would take time to do the simplest thing but these people had access to all of there needs at there finger tips

As Atlas tried to leave even with the little girl hanging on more arms and hands grabbed him and faces came into view crying and tearing up

"Thank you, thank you" the homeless crowd cheered Atlas

Atlas was swamped by body's of grateful people, Atlas thought about trying to escape but he had been caught already, only using strength would he be able to escape or magic but he didn't want to hurt people who were only trying to show how grateful they were, in the end Atlas just excepted the hugs and kisses from the people

The thanks didn't stop there but Atlas couldn't except any more, he had be alone for some time and now he felt hot in the face, he was not used to this kind of attention

Making his excess Atlas left waving to the now ex homeless people, down stairs out side Atlas waved his hand to cool his face, when he first started to play Royal Road he had trouble showing any positive emotions but as time passed and more people came to rely on Atlas his heart opened and defrosted to welcome them, the change was slow but faster than any therapy

The last day on the chalk board was up and the shop would be official opened, the line leading to Atlas shop was huge, it spanned the block and rolled around back on it's self

"I wonder what they will be selling" asked a man in line

The people in the line were asking all kinds of question like these, many factors had caused people to line up to see what was being sold, first it was just NPC who lived around the area, they had witnessed how fast the building was erected and wanted to know what was going on, then there was the NPC that had heard of Atlas name, story's of what he had made and how he had helped the city improve, there was also players who had seen a line out side a shop and joined in just in cause it was something big

When the line got long enough players started to mention the shop on websites and with more people taking notice they too visited and lined up out side the shop

Word of mouth had made a small shop reopening into a big event, the sign at the shop window was removed and the line went mad with anticipation, the sign at the door turned and the door was unlocked, the first 5 people entered

If the shoppers had seen the flats above they would have thought it rubbish compared to the shop they now stood in, the floor was a mosaic of the sign out side, four jacks made from tiny pieces of coloured stones, all around the room was show cases that looked to be made from the very best oak, even the wooden beams above them had carvings on them showing a forest, the walls had a clean feel to them with paster and cream paint over them

The front desk that separated the working area of the shop to the customers waiting area was even finer than the cabinets, Willow, oak and ash colour wood had been fixed together to create a fine feeling

The shoppers had totally forgotten why they had entered and just stared at the surroundings

"What can i do for you" asked a sweet voice

Barely the shoppers pulled their eyes away and rested them on the counter girl who had just spoke

At the counter was a very pretty dark hair girl who had the most emerald green eyes anyone had seen

"My name is Sophie, how can i help" Sophie the little necromancer had taken a job as the greeter in Atlas shop, beside her was two white hooded full plated amour warriors, their job was to take orders and help Sophie sell things

"Ummm yes" said one of the customers, "what do you sell"

Sophie tried her best but couldn't quite suppress her eyes rolling "can't you see"

Sophie gestured with her hand all around the shop, in the cabinets and shelves were all kinds of things from weapons on chains to stop thief's stealing products to metal armour hanging on dummies and behind Sophie was shelves upon shelves of potions and healing paste

"We sell what ever we make, we have many people working to make the best product they can from what ever materials we have, this is why the shop is called The Four Jacks, we may not be masters but if you can find a master that will work on low level materials as well as high level materials then that would be a dream, not only do we sell but we buy as well and if you don't have money to pay from the items we will trade with materials, for example if a pair of rabbit boots cost 3 silver but you don't have the money we will happy trade for 15 rabbit skins and 60 copper for tax" said the white hooded full plate person beside Sophie

"Yea and...." Sophie picked up a piece of paper and started to read "ANY  TRANS..ACTION ABOVE 20 GOLD WILL RECEIVE A FREE IDENTIFICATION" Sophie beamed at the two hooded people beside her

Sophie helpers just nodded underneath their hoods

With out looking at the items the people who had entered the shop jaws dropped, identification was a skill that could gain a lot of money, each identification would cost five gold at shops but this shop was offering it for free

After the first customers had looked over the enchanted weapons and armour and bought a couple of potions they left, there wasn't any thing over level 100 at the store but nothing was lacking, even the rabbit boots had inflated stats on them

All because each piece of materials used was treated with the most care possible, a freeman tailor might just make rabbit boots straight away after gaining the skins but the effort the gnolls put in to their product in skinning, scraping the fat off the skins , treating the material with chemicals and dyes, cutting off bits, padding and carefully stitching together a pair of rabbit boots it couldn't compare, again it was like comparing  it to heaven and earth

When the customers left they would talk to the crowd letting them know what to expect

"A feast for the eyes" said one of the customers to the waiting line

"Free identification if you buy something over 20 gold" another said to the line

"Bring some materials to them and they will make things for you at a reduced price"

The crowed was jumping with excitement, each person who entered and then left the shop said nothing but praise

In the back of the shop Atlas kept out of sight, he left the business to be run smoothly by the hidden gnolls and Sophie

Atlas went behind the scenes, the first floor of the building had a forge with all the things needed for advance weapon making and on the other side a wall separated a huge kitchen that held giant clay pots and cooking utensil

The shop was complete and judging from the orders and customers satisfaction it was a success, this building would gain a continuous money from rent from the 2nd and 3rd floors, the ground floor was for Mary to make weapons and other thing involving metal, the first basement was for storage and the 2nd basements was for the gnolls to work peaceful with out being hunted, a tunnel was built with the help of Loki and the mining gnolls, each piece of the tunnel had been compressed and enchanted to stop a cave in, just encase things got bad for the gnolls there was  a place to escape

Atlas sat down and pulled a book towards him, just as he was going to open it a mana mouse jumped on the unopened book with a note in its mouth, Atlas carefully took the note and unfolded the paper, in his mind he felt this was weird, wouldn't it be easier just to read the mana mouse memory

Unfolding the note Atlas read it

"Damn your mana mouses, come and see me, i have something to tell you about the magi and the apprentices, signed Alison"

This was the start of a new adventure

End Of Chapter Thirty Four

----------------------------------------

oh as you may well have realised a new adventure will start and it will be out of the city, a new area to explore and talk about
