Tec Mage Chapter Fifty Three: When It Rains, It Pours
Atlas was now sitting at his crafting table. His mind was racing. He had just got back from the trollite's home and was sitting in his comfy chair.
The trollite queen had tricked him with a skill. As soon as he had learnt the glimmer world skill he had to be the ambassador of the trollite species. The skill was rare and the only way to get to glimmer world. Now Atlas had it he had to use it to visit the magic communion.
It was explained to Atlas that in two months time the various magical species would enter the glimmer lands and form the council. Atlas would stand for the trollites and represent them. Atlas did think about just abandoning the quest but that would cause a unseen negative effect that Atlas couldn't foresee.
All this came about because the trollite's found the elf's disgusting to behold and couldn't bear to meet them.
The only good thing was when the mission was accepted he was able to use the skill. With the skill and the flying machine, Atlas was able to get home in minutes instead of an hour.
Standing up from his chair Atlas used the glimmer world skill. It was a subtle skill that you had to keep an eye on to even know it was casted. A thin oval sheet of sparkling dust formed in front of Atlas. Atlas reached though the glimmering oval, his arm disappeared and reappeared next to one of the many Alchemy big boy travelling companions. His arm was still connected but the distance between the two was meters.
It was very useful as anything was now with in his reach as long as he could see it. There was limits to the skill but with this alone it made it well worth it.
Atlas would spend a couple of days playing with his new skill. With in those days a friend would return to him.
Far away, in the core of the floating city of heaven was a big black cocoon. Red veins of heat spread though the cocoon. The cocoon was so long that the blazing god slime that the cocoon rested in could only just swallow it whole. On the obsidian bridge was Adam, the golem that was patiently waiting and protecting the cocoon. Every now and again Adam would dive in to the blazing god slime and clean the cocoon by pulling any cooling lava off the cocoon.
The cocoon was able to reach this size because it had the perfect environment to grow. The massive heat from the blazing god slime nurtured and feed the cocoon. While Adam made sure that no obsidian stuck and cooled on the surface of the cocoon. All the Sun stones the blazing god slime created was absorbed by the cocoon.
With such nutrition the cocoon was able to grow past what it should be able to do and at this time the cocoon started to spit. A blazing hot claws was ripping the cocoon from inside out. The claws quickly made short work of the cocoon to revel Forge.
Forge was an imuggi but was at the same time something more. He had gone though two evolution. In his first form he was almost the same as a snake. In his second form he had grown wings and and tiny horns. Forge in his second form was the size of a very big dog but now it was completely different.
In this new third form Forge was as long as the obsidian bridge that Adam was waiting on and the thickness of Forge was the same as a car. This wasn't all. The wings that Forge had was gone but in there place was a pair of front legs on the belly that looked like it was moulded from lava and obsidian. Forge was also sporting a very fine pair of horns that glowed bright white. Each horn had a glittering gold ring that added to the splendour of the whole look.
Forge had been reborn in to a imuggi dragon. Not quite a dragon but not a imuggi ether. Forge flew out of the blazing god slime and in the air. Even though Forge had no wings he was able to easy fly away. Just like a Chinese dragon Forge moved though the air like a snake wiggling on the ground.
Forge was dancing in the air above the obsidian bridge. His scales was as black as obsidian and a nice shine of blazing red to them. Forge's mane was also blazing red hot. It turned from red to orange then to blue and then white until it completely disappeared. A flame so hot that it disappeared from view.
Forge called out in excitement but instead of a roar a soft and beautiful song left his mouth. It wasn't just his wings that had changed, instead of a roar a load but soft song left the mouth.
The blazing god slime tentacles reached out to grab Forge and pull him back but it couldn't reach Forge. Forge held deep respect for the blazing god slime. If it wasn't for the blazing god slime then Forge wouldn't be able to grow nearly as strong. It wasn't that the blazing god slime was unbearably strong that Forge respected it but the fact that Forge felt safe inside of The blazing god slime.
To thank the blazing god slime, Forge used his dragons breath. A deep multi coloured flame spewed from Forge mouth. The blazing god slime was washed with the flame. The tentacles stopped waving and the blazing god slime lapped up the flames. The blazing god slime was such a high level that it would take many dragons using their dragons breaths at the same time just to annoy it and so Forge's breath only fed it.
With the blazing god slime calming down, Forge was able to land on the obsidian bridge. With Forge landing the green slimes that littered the bridge was squashed and pushed off the bridge in to the lava. Adam came over and started to clean the cooling lava.
"You don't need to do that anymore" Forge was fully aware that Adam had been looking after him.
"Lets get out of here" Forge allowed Adam to climb on his back. With both of them together they flew out of the core. On their way out Forge destroyed a couple of giant lizards with a swipe of his tail. While Adam gripped a giant lizard by his head and crushed it with it's massive strength.
They had completely left the underground and was now soaring in the sky. Adam had two giant lizards corpses hanging over his shoulders. Soon, Forge was flying towards Atlas. Just like a pigeon with his homing instinct Forge had a homing instinct to know where Atlas was at all times.
Though the sky the pair scared the birds and dived to the ground while Forge sang his song. It was the song of freedom, Forge was no longer stuck to the ground and could freely swim though the sky.
Past memory's flashed though his mind. 300 years in a forge and the last couple of months living free. Forge had lived more in the past couple of months than he did in his entire 300 years living in the forge. The song he was singing held a touch of sadness because of the time he had been imprisoned in the forge but it also held happiness on being free to fly where he wanted.
Imuggi's main reason to life was to turn in to a dragon and be at the top of the food chain. Being at the top meant true freedom. Now Forge could say he had made it. Even if he was attacked by something stronger than him self he could just fly away.
On this day many videos went up showing a long dancing dragon in the sky. The multi coloured mane caused the player that saw it to be excited. It was a beautiful sight to behold.
In a forest many miles away, was Atlas. He was teleporting from one place to another. He found it fun.
When he came to a lake he could teleport straight to the small island in the lake. Teleporting in the sky and free falling was something he did as well. In the real world he wouldn't dare to sky dive as their was a small chance of death but here in the game he was free to do any thing his mind wanted with out the consequences of death or injury
Atlas teleported to the top of mountains and gain the bonuses from being the first there. It turned out that if you climbed the mountain by foot you would get a bigger bonus than teleporting.
This type of teleporting had many different ways of using it. When Atlas saw something he wanted he could just use glimmer world to form a short cut and reach out and take it. The only thing was dirty things like animal waste couldn't pass though.
Glimmer world was it's own little world and would refuse any dirty thing entering the world, no matter how brief it was.
While sliding down a snow mountain Atlas heard a faint but sweet song coming his way. As time flowed it became louder. Looking up Atlas spotted from far away what looked like a ribbon dancing in the sky but it didn't take long for Atlas to see what it truly was.
Forge was excited, he could tell he was close to Atlas. Forge could of started a new life and parted his way from Atlas but he reasoned that only good things happen when he was with Atlas.
He had friends that had looked after him when he was small and a adopted daughter in the form of a rainbow spider.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
On top of a snowy mountain Forge spotted Atlas. He dove down and dived in the snow. The intense heat that Forge was emitting instantly melted the snow before it had a chance to even touch him. On the floor, Forge dragged his body along the floor using his claws.
Before Atlas could say anything, Forge had wrapped himself around Atlas like a boa constrictor.
Forge head was held high in the sky and the song he was singing had turned in to words
"Look how powerful i am. Look how splendid i am" sang Forge in a wish washy way
"Yes. I hardly recognise you" said Atlas from a rock that was a couple of metres away.
Forge hadn't missed Atlas but Atlas had teleported away so he wasn't trapped in the embrace of Forge.
This time Forge slowly and carefully wrapped around Atlas and the rock.
Forge's face peered down and a forked tongue popped out. Forge's head was now bigger than Atlas body.
"It's nice to see you" said Atlas.
This simple greeting made Forge happy. The flames that Forge's mane produced was so hot that it was melting the rock Atlas was standing on.
Forge rubbed his head on Atlas while sing his song. Atlas almost fell from the rock as his footing was compromised by Forge's head and the melting rock.
A soft crunch broke the moment. This was Adam as he stepped on a mound of snow, he had fallen off Forge when Forge had pulled him self across the ground. Flying though the air was infinity smoother than the ground.
That day all three of them went exploring. Sometimes they would just fly though the air while other times they would explore simple dungeons.
Forge was useful at keeping the monsters from attacking only the most stupid monsters would attack but they was delt with by Adam.
It was funny to see a massive bear being picked up by the scuff of the neck and then tossed away by Adam. It was a good day out.
It made Atlas feel like there was other things to Royal Road. It wasn't just a place to study but a place where you could define what you found fun.
Killing wasn't the only thing to do in the game.
Atlas was having a good time with Forge.
In a lake that Atlas had found did Atlas and Forge play. It started off with simple splashing but quickly turned in to a small tidle wave as Forge used his tail to hit a massive amount of water at Atlas.
Atlas easily dodge it using glimmer world but Adam who was standing on the shore got the full blast of the massive splash. When the wave pasted, Adam was still there, only now was he wearing a fish in his open mouth and strands of plant materials on the shoulders.
Both Atlas and Forge had a small chuckle at Adam. The mood was light and pleasant. Forge and Atlas both practiced their skills on each other. For Forge it was his multicoloured dragons breath. Atlas tried to counter it with his own flame thrower. It was a tier three skill that he had earned from the mages guild. On it's own it wouldn't compare to Forge's dragon breath but Atlas was mixing magic to great effect.
With advance elemental control, Atlas was able to add high concentration of oxygen to his flame thrower.
Both flame thrower's splashed against each other but only for a brief second before Forge's dragon breath completely out classed Atlas flamethrower.
It was like a single rain drop fighting against a wave. Atlas flamethrower was pushed back and Atlas was washed with the multicoloured flame.
Atlas was fine. Just like Forge the both of them had complete fire resistance and the flames would heal rather than destroy.
This carried on until night where all three returned to the hidden underground gnoll town. It was a tight fit for forge to enter the tunnels but being a snake he manged some how.
Forge was set up in the only place where a dragon belong, around massive amounts of gold.
Being a imuggi close to a dragon, Forge was given the job of accountant. Forge was given duty over the safe and the gold mess inside.
The gnolls had just piled their gold and valuables in a cave. The first thing Forge did when entering the cave safe was to dive into the gold. There was a certain instinct that animals have, it turned out that the dragons instinct for gold was godly.
Though out the underground town a soft and joyful song could be heard. The singing of Forge as he played in the gold and gems was uplifting. Even the gnolls who were working in the Colosseum could feel their souls uplifted
The gold earned from the slums and various shops poured in like water. Everyday more gold was earned. No gnoll could keep up with the management of the gold and so it had just been thrown into a cave where any gnoll could take what they needed when they needed it.
After Forge calmed down he went straight to work. He separated the different forms of wealth. Gems in one pile, gold in another and special equipment too good to sell in another pile.
While Forge was busy Atlas went back to the four jacks shop with Adam. Adam was Atlas first golem but it was also Atlas biggest and smartest.
Adam was station out side of the shop as a guard. Adams obsidian body made him stand out from the rest of the golems and made the four jack shop look better.
Entering the shop Atlas was handed letters and notes from a gnoll who was working at the counter.
Ever since the slums were upgraded Atlas would be invited to various places.
Today there was a couple of letters from player guilds asking for the exclusive rights to Atlas shops equipment. Atlas ignored this and moved on to the other letters. Some were letters from charity's and churches asking for money. Atlas and his crew already supported the orphanage and the newly developed church of the small god of the land of nature and wilds.
A letter asking for a partnership between three Intermediate cooks looking to develop brewing alcohol. This letter went in the possible pile. Alcohol wasn't cheap and major profit could be seen. It would only take a warehouse and special equipment to start it up.
Other letters asking for loans and expressing a unique deal was put to the side for Dracken. With Dracken's information network they could find out if these deals could be profitable, if not Dracken wouldn't invest.
Shuffling the letters Atlas noticed a letter with the seal of the kingdom on it. Tearing it open and flipping it open Atlas read it.
Atlas eyes quickly read the letter. A sour look fell on his face as he finished reading. The letter was from the ruling players of the city.
In short, they were setting up a expedition in to one of the forbidden zones and was asking for the owner of the four jacks shop to be the blacksmith to accompany them. The forbidden zone was the desolate swamp.
This was suspicious for Atlas. Why would they send people in to the forbidden zone. Forbidden zones were special areas that held nothing but death for low end players. At this point in the game there was no players who should be able to withstand it.
Why ask for the owner of the four jacks shop to accompany them as well. Surely the players who ran the kingdom had there own blacksmiths.
The way the letter was written also suggested that it was an order.
Atlas was a paranoid man. Atlas asked Dracken to get some info for him. A day went past and Atlas was given a small folder.
Reading the folder Atlas found what he was looking for. It turned out the rulers had taken notice in Atlas property and how much money they were making. Dracken had bribed some players to find out that the rulers wanted more tax from them but because of the arrangement they had signed at the end of the war, they were forced to only take 15% tax rather than what they wanted which was 30%.
When Atlas and his crew only owned a quarter of the filthy slums it didn't matter but now that they owned 50% of the slums and they were being transformed, 15% was a massive loss for them.
The ruling players wanted the owner to die in the swamp. This way the old deal of 15% tax for three years would no longer apply. They of course didn't know that Atlas, the owner was a player and wouldn't matter if he died.
The worst thing was it was within two weeks. When it rained it poured. Another time consuming mission but this time it was by players.
