Chapter 44

Chapter 44

"Hi there," I say to him as I walk closer. "Would it be alright if I do some smithing out here?" I ask him.

"Sure, just watch out for Giant Black Leeches. They like to pop out of the walls sometimes." Yeah, I know.

Walking past the man, I go about 200 feet before getting to work. With my stats moved to have more in magic related stats, I make the forge. I will have to buy more torches and coal on the shop day, but for now, I will have to make due with this. With Intermediate Earth Magic and my stats moved for better magic control, I heat up the iron to make it more malleable for the earth magic. I only need to shape the iron into a general sword shape, and then I can make the actual swords tomorrow. I really want to make steel somehow, but I fear I won't be able to get the fire hot enough.

With those thoughts, I get to work. I hold the iron together with earth magic, then place it in the fire to heat it up to the point that I can shape it into a blade easily. I might not be able to make steel, but I can make iron swords quickly enough. I abandoned trying to make steel after a few dozen minutes, and I went back to making iron swords.

At the rate that I make the swords, I can make four in a single hour. This is due mostly to my earth magic allowing me to shape the blade to a certain degree. I still have to pound the blade to make it nice and hard, but I can remove most of the impurities with the earth magic, somehow. With earth magic, every mineral feels slightly different. At higher levels of Intelligence, the difference is more notable. The difference is like water and ice, both technically the same thing, but in different states of being.

From my knowledge of science, I know this isn't true, but for magic, it is. I am sure that someone without the ability to use magic and without my knowledge of how iron is made would not be able to smith a sword as fast as I do.

Funny enough, I can make exactly 100 iron swords in a day if I make them each in 15 minutes and don't have to take any breaks. That is, of course, not how things happen, so I am not able to make that many.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

At any rate, I don't know when I will be able to make high-quality weapons. I haven't been to many stores, but High-Quality seems to be something as a baseline in the vampire store. Maybe I won't be able to sell normal quality swords anywhere other than the shop day unless I want to take the price for scrap iron.

For the entire 39th day, I made swords. I actually didn't know when the day ended, so I just made 100 swords and called it a day. Sometimes I wonder if my ability is too much of a cheat. I take out my status menu.

It's just too good. And what does Class really mean? I give it a tap.

That's... quite interesting. My class is not adventurer, but is actually gamer. Hehe, just like the manga. Well, this class really does explain a lot of the things I am able to do, among other things. I am mostly interested in the acquiring loot. How the heck do I do that? There was a ball of light over Valery when she died, so maybe it is something like that.
