Chapter 4

Chapter 4

I use the minimap to check my traps. One, two, three, five, seven, thirteen, all of my traps slowly go off. As the traps go off, I start to see red dots on the map. Those must be hostile creatures, the wolves that triggered the traps. The only thin is, there are a lot more wolves tonight than the previous few nights. With a quick count, I see that at least twenty wolves are approaching my tree, though it might be less because the wolves move very fast.

I have only a small wall covering about 1/6th the distance around my tree, but that does mean my back is covered. With my bow and arrows out, I get ready to shoot any wolf that looks on the edge of life. Quickly, I am surrounded by wolves. Wolves to every side, and BAM! I got one!

It wasn't a great hit but coupled with the damage from the traps, the wolf dies. I don't see any other wolf that is nearly as damaged, so I put the bow and arrows away and take out some spears I made earlier. Throwing one at a time, I am able to hit three of the wolves with the spears. The spears do not do much damage, but they injure the wolves that have already been hurt from my traps.

Once I run out of spears, which didn't kill a single wolf, I get out my rocks. One rock at a time, aim small miss small. That line from a movie doesn't help at all and I consistently miss the wolves. Bang, bang, bang, I can hit a few, but nothing that would kill them. Once I'm out of rocks, I go back to my bow and arrows.

I've got nine arrows, got to make them count. Voom! One arrow, and it almost killed a wolf. I shoot a second arrow and the wolf is dead. Seven arrows left. A wolf almost directly under me is looking up. Wrong move and a single arrow took it out. Six arrows left. I use the other six arrows trying to kill as many wolves as possible, but I only manage to kill one more wolf.

Three wolves lay dead on the ground, and all I have to do is wait for morning. I wait until the sun comes up, and a notification comes up.

>Welcome To Tardeyad!

>You have survived seven days and nights.

>Good job!

>As a reward, the shop will open!

>From now on, the shop will open every seven days!

Oh, cool! With the shop, I can get more arrows! But I need money. I don't know how to earn money, but I've got the wolf in my inventory, so maybe I can sell it. Opening the shop, I get a cool new menu.

>**Shop**

>Buy

>Sell

I select sell, and a new menu comes up.

>**Sell**

>Wooden Bow

>Dead Wolf, Toothless

I check the sale price of the wooden bow, but it only sells for 100 credits. I check on the sell price of a dead wolf, and it's worth 20 credits. Not too bad, and I sell it. Then, I go to the buy shop and, holy cow! I've got 220 credits! I don't know how, but they're there! I immediately go to the weapons category and look for arrows.

>**Arrows**

>Wooden Arrows

>Iron Arrows

>Steel Arrows

>Orchelium Arrows

>Demon Arrows

>Explosive Arrows

They all look the same, except explosive arrows, so I check out the difference between them all. It looks like wooden arrows do 30% damage modification, while iron arrows do 50%, steel does 70%, and orchelium does 90%. Demon arrows automatically move in the air to hit the target, and explosive arrows obviously explode on contact. Wooden Arrows cost 1 credit each, Iron arrows cost 2 credits each, steel arrows cost 5 credits each, and orchelium cost 10 credits each. Both demon arrows and explosive arrows cost 20 credits each.

With only 220 credits, I decide to get 100 iron arrows. I could get twice as many wooden arrows, but more damage will hopefully be better in quick combat. One arrow is almost good enough right now, so using a better arrow might make all my kills one-shots.
