Chapter 34
Four hours later, I've made 16 more swords and make one of them really good for myself. Using the four torches, I am able to make the fire very hot, but I still need to use more coal to top off the heat. For the one very good sword, I use two more iron to give the sword extra weight and make the fire extra hot with Intermediate Fire Magic. It's still just an Iron Sword in the inventory, but it takes its own slot. I haven't reach steel level for heat, so I still need to work on my Intelligence and get Advanced Fire Magic eventually.
I meet up with Arnold and the gang at the outskirts of town, and we leave. Nobody asks me what I was doing coming from outside the town, so I hope they only thought I was just practicing.
It's the 36th day and we are heading towards the Holy Sword of Nordas. I don't believe in the same faith as these people, but they don't seem like some crazy cultists. I gave them the torches back, and everyone was thankful again, but I can't help but wonder what these people are going to do for the return trip. Surely they can't plan on spending the rest of their lives at some holy monument, can they? A covered wagon or carriage should really be used for this kind of journey.
Part way to the destination, we are attacked by wolves.
"Wolves, right side!" Someone from the middle wagon yells, and I pull out my bow with two arrows. I look to the right, and four wolves are coming out of the forest and staring down the wagons.
"Kill them, Khalid!" The woman next to me says, and I shoot my two arrows. Once they are out of my hand, I get two more and place them in the bow. I see the first two arrows each hit a wolf, and I lease the next two, as hitting a wolf each. Like that, four wolves are dead.
"That was quite quick," The woman next to me says. About time she realized my greatness, and I jump out of the wagon to collect the bodies. "What are you doing?"

"I'm just going to collect the bodies for skinning later." I say and I start putting them in my inventory.
"Just hurry back," She says, and I can tell I lost any respect I might have just earned. At least I can make some Leather armor out of this later and sell it for a big chunk of credits.
We continue on the path for quite some time while taking many turns. I don't understand why someone with earth magic didn't come along when building the road so they could flatten everything, then these turns would not have needed to happen.
Traveling for a long time is super boring. I miss plains and trains and cars. Why can't some super fast monster pull the wagon? Why can't a dragon or something attack and we all get to fight it? At least I can use my x-ray vision to see through the armor and clothes of the lady folk in the wagons. Hey, I can't help myself. Just a peak. What they don't know, can't hurt them.
Without seeing any hounds, we reach the massive wooden ramparts of the shrine in the mountains. The path was wide enough for only one wagon at a time, and I wonder what would happen if a wagon needed to go past us. Would we have to go all the way down and start back up?
"We are here," Said someone in the cart.
"Thank Nordas we are done," Someone else said. Everyone is bustling and looking around at the ramparts, opening to get a look at the insides. With my x-ray vision, I can already see inside.
From the wooden ramparts, there is a small decline towards a fire pit in the center. Surrounding the pit is... well, it's like the scene from Berserk inside the cave, minus the orgy.
"Everyone, hand back the torches, this is where we part ways," Arnold says, and the people start to pass the torches back to me. I take the nine torches, and we arrive at the gate.
