8th Chapter - Sealed skills

Typer’s room: Hello guys. One more chapter of cuteness!

Not much to say about this chapter besides the fact that I got an editor for this work from now on, so cakes for fixing mistakes are probably going to reduce in stock. Sorry guys (^.^’)

That, and cute is justice. Nuff said.

And for those awaiting for IO, it should take some time, but i'll try to post it still today, okay?

As I said before, this is VASTLY a work in progress, and wasn’t made to be posted initially, so there might be some inconsistencies. If so, please do tell me, as I want to make it an enjoyable read ^^

May your reading be enjoyable.

After father left so that he could go to his smithy, I was left at Tian’s house so that I could begin my training. At first, I wondered if this meant that I would start my training as a spiritualist, but Roshi said that he would have to prepare a training routine for me, so we should leave that for later.

This meant that I ended up following Miss Ping towards the aide’s room. She guided me through the mansion’s ground while showing me the rooms on the way, and said that I should try to remember all of them as soon as possible, as it was an aid’s obligation to know the house they serve in by heart.

I nodded seriously while trying to save the path we were taking on my memory. After cutting through a few corridors and rooms, we quickly reached an area that was a lot simpler than the rest of the apartment, being made with a noticeable lack of decorations, and only accessible through a fairly isolated passage.

“This is the aids’ area. Eventually you will receive a room in here so that you can live in the house.” Ping told me while signaling towards the room. I looked at her surprised for a moment before nodding.

I hadn’t really considered it before, but becoming an aide means that I will have to stay besides Tian for as long as possible, and the word possible meant that I would have to possibly move into her house. This might make my training in spiritualism a bit easier, since I would stay closer to Tian’s teachers. On the other hand, it might make my training with father a bit troublesome…

Well, he refuses to even start teaching me for one year, so I can leave that for later.

“Today, we came here to get some clothing for you.” Ping said while noticing my curiosity. I nodded satisfied. “There is a fairly young aide who joined us when she was a little bit older than you, so she might have some clothing that fits you while we make yours.”

Following her, she took me to a room roughly in the middle of the corridor and knocked a few times on the door. A young girl’s voice came from inside telling us to come in.

In there, we met a girl that looked around thirteen years old, with short black hair and wearing the usual black robes that the servants of the household used. She laid on her bed while reading a scroll, but the moment she saw Ping coming in, she hurriedly got up and stood straight up.

“No need to rush, Yun.” Ping said in a patient tone. “You are in your break. We only came here to get some clothings for the new apprentice.” She made a motion with her hand towards me, so I quickly smiled at the aid, making her smile slightly in return. “I believe you still have some clothing from your younger years?”

“Yes Miss Ping.” The girl said while walking towards a set old drawers. “But I think that it might be a bit big for her...” Taking some old robes from the drawer, she passed to the aid who gave it to me.

“I was already expecting that.” She said while giving me the robe. “Now, Lia, hold onto this and follow me.” With that, Ping turned and gave a quick nod to Yun before leaving.

I thanked the young aid one last time before jogging after Ping. We made our way through the other side of corridor until we reached the main building once again. On the way, she introduced me to some of the aides that were walking around.

We finally reached a wide room with more than a few mirrors and cloths being exhibited in cloth hangers around. While I looked around enchanted by all the colorful cloths, Ping clapped her hands twice, as if calling for someone, and soon enough a few other aids appeared.

“Miss ping! What brings you here?” One of them asked while approaching us.

“We came here to get some measurements for the new apprentice.” She said while motioning for me to stand on a podium. “Now, take off your dress so that we can take the measures for your robe...”

“Huh?” I asked shocked for a moment before nodding, feeling as some of my blood ran up to my cheeks.

I was caught a bit by surprise with her sudden request, but stopping to think about it, if she wanted to get my measures I would need to strip, no matter what, right? Besides, right now I was only a four years old girl, so there wasn’t much reason for me to become embarrassed.

I quickly took off the dress I wore revealing the short I wore underneath. I saw as Ping blinked surprised after I quickly folded the dress and put it on the table. Now I was only wearing my shorts while being topless. I felt a bit embarrassed, but the other aides didn’t seem to mind too much, as they looked at me like they were looking at a cute puppy.

“Waah! She’s so cute!” One of them said while approaching and touching my skin. “And her skin is so smooth!”

I blushed a bit more as the other aides also came closer to try touching me. Luckily for me, Ping didn’t let it last for too long, as she gave some gentle slaps on the aides’ head, making them quickly recover and start working on taking my measurements.

“Lia… What do you do on your free time?” Ping asked while I started to raise my hands so that they could measure my bust.

“I play around. Why?” I asked confused.

“It’ just that… Your skin is so pale… It’s almost like you never leave your house.” She said with a slight frown.

“Hmm. I don’t know. I'm always playing outside” I said while looking at my arm. Truly, it did look a bit ill at how pale it was, but to tell the truth, it seemed that no matter how much time I spent on the sun, my skin wouldn’t tan no matter what.

I mean, really. In a way, I really did draw a cheaty body for a reincarnation, right?

While smiling innocently to the aid, the other ones quickly finished taking my measurements, so now they began to decide what kind of design they would use.

“Ho ho ho!” A proud and smug laugh echoed in the room. The aides all smiled a bit awkwardly as they immediately recognized the owner of the voice. “What do you think that you are doing with my cute plebeian?”

Tian walked in, now wearing a purple robe that matched her oddly coloured hair and stared at the girls who were picking a cloth so that they could start working.

“Mistress Tian!” The girls said politely when they saw her approaching. “We were about to prepare the clothing for the young girl.”

“And what were you planning to use for her clothing?” Tian asked with a mischievous tone.

“Well… Cotton… Just like ours...” The maids said while looking at each other confused.

“Ho ho ho… So you wish to use the cotton from MY household to dress her? For free? Is that it?” Tian asked while staring at the girls. They looked lost for a moment, but she soon continued. “You see, I do not accept simply giving things for free, so I will only accept it if she is willing to work to pay off her clothing.”

“Then...” The girls looked at each other confused for a moment. “What would you have us do?”

Tian smiled before covering her mouth with the fan and turning back to the door. With a sign of her hand, a few others aides came in carrying a long black cloth that looked a lot like silk. However, as the cloth moved, it gave a slightly greenish reflection, earning a mysterious look to it.

While I stared worriedly at the expensive looking cloth, wondering what the hell she planned to do with that, Ping widened her eyes and said in shock.

“That’s… Darkwind silk?” She turned towards Tian with a shocked face. “Why… Why are you doing this, milady? Isn’t this even more expensive than cotton?” I paled at her words. If I had to say something, that sounded to be even more expensive than silk! What’s with the Darkwind and all that...

“Ho ho ho!” Tian laughed like what she was doing was the obvious. “Ping! I would have expected that at least you would understand the meaning behind this!”

“Hmm...” I said while looking shyly at them. The two turned to me with a confused glance which kind of made me want to hide myself in some corner. “Neeh… What is this Darkwind silk thingy?” I asked them, and saw as Tian’s eyes flashed with excitement.

“Why cute plebeian! How come you don’t know what Darkwind silk is!” Tian said while letting out her usual haughty laugh. “Then let me explain to you, since it’s my duty as a noble! You see, there’s a special kind of spirit beast called Darkwind Moth. They are extremely aggressive and dangerous, so much that you usually need at least a beginner spiritualist to take care of them.” I have absolutely no idea what a spirit beast is, but from the sounds of it, it sounds to be something very dangerous. “This is the silk these moths produces every few months. It’s an excellent material that’s not only as resistant and durable as silk, but also offers almost no resistance when you start doing your gathering exercises! The perfect cloth for whoever is beginning on spiritualism!”

What the hell! Forget expensive! I don’t think I'll ever find a way to repay that! And how the hell does she know so many things? Isn’t she supposed to be a six years old? As a reincarnate, I'm feeling really left behind here!

“Huuh… Tian…” I called her with a worried tone, and she eyed me with a raised eyebrow. “I… I don’t think I can pay for that...” I said feeling worried for receiving something so damned expensive.

“Ho ho ho. No need to worry!” Tian said with a wide smile. “I'll only deduct from your payment once you start working as a spiritualist! Besides, with this cloth, your training will go even faster, so this is but an investment for me!”

I looked at her for a long time in shock. Goddammit, how the hell can such a good girl exist in this world. Feeling some emotional tears coming from the corner of my eyes, I smiled at her and said.

“Thanks, big sis!” I told her.

In that exact moment, not only her, but also Ping and the other aides blushed lightly before averting their gazes. I looked at them in shock  and confusion, tilting my head while trying to understand what had just happened.

“Too… Dangerous...” Ping said in a low tone.

“So much destructive power at such young age!” Tian murmured with a low but impressed tone.

“I… Can’t hold myself back much longer...” One of the aides finished.

Only then I understood what had happened, so I quickly took one of the aide’s sleeve and dried my eyes. For a moment I forgot about the seal I had put on my strongest skill. This thing, if left unchecked, would bring chaos upon the world!

It was such a strong skill that I doubted that even the spiritualist would be able to resist it. That’s how powerful it was. Its name is…

THE ULTIMATE UPTURNED ,AND TEARY EYED, DESTRUCTIVE STARE!!! {Credit to Editor - san who came up with it}

The last time I used the teary-eyes strategy was when I had scraped my knees by accident one year ago. It wasn’t anything serious, but since my body isn’t all that used to pain, some tears ended up escaping.

When the people on the street saw me, they all stopped what they were doing and tried to hurriedly take me to a medic. Merchants closed their shops, guards left their patrols and pickpockets offered to pay for my treatment.

After that day, I promised to seal this skill so that it should never again seen by the daylight.

After calming myself down, I let the girls start working on my clothing by preparing the overall shape for me before they took it to give the final touches. I couldn’t help but notice that they were using their chances to sneak a few pokes on my skin here and there.

The slaps they received from Ping this time weren’t as gentle as before.
