Typer’s room: Hello guys. As promised, another chapter by the weekend!
For now, the plan is that the next update will come on Thursday, however, this also means that my stockpile of chapters is running dry. After a couple of weeks, we’ll probably go to uploading whenever I write, and if anyone knows how my writing speed dropped nowadays, you should have an idea what to expect.
As I said before, this is VASTLY a work in progress, and wasn’t made to be posted initially, so there might be some inconsistencies. If so, please do tell me, as I want to make it an enjoyable read ^^
May your reading be enjoyable.

Taking the piece of meat to my mouth, I couldn’t help but make a small satisfied smile while wiggling my legs cheerfully. From my side, I heard as Miss Tian gave her usual smug ‘ho ho ho’ laugh and patted my head while I ate the food cheerfully. She seemed to be having fun watching me enjoy the food, but I'm not going to complain about it since I did receive some petting as a reward.
“You really are enjoying your food, huh, cute plebeian?” She asked me and I nodded in response.
“The meat is shooo juicy!” I replied while smiling sillily and holding my cheeks in delight. “I never knew that meat could taste so good!” I said my true feelings.
“Ho ho ho!” She replied while covering her mouth with her fan. “It also seems that you are also more cheerful out here than when you were earlier?” She added with a slightly confused tone. Blinking surprised, I briefly tilted my head confused.
“Is that so?” I asked confused before shrugging. “I hadn’t noticed at all.” I replied without thinking much. “Though I always did enjoy being outside, so it might have been that...”
“Hmm… Is that so?” Tian asked me and I nodded. I always preferred playing outside to staying indoors doing nothing. Maybe it’s something to do with my previous life?
Right now we were on the outside of the building, sitting on one of the benches laid around the garden, we had snuck out a couple of plates of the food reserved for the nobles so that we could enjoy ourselves out here.
Doing so, we now were enjoying some tasty food on the fresh air from outside, which only seemed to make it even tastier than usual. The quietness from outside was also very nice, as I did not have to deal with the noisy talks and tens of different spirits walking around non-stop.
As I thought of those things, a sigh came from besides us, and turning my head to the opposite side of where Lady Tian stood, we looked at the third person present in the bench.
“So… Why are you still here again?” The heir to the Sol household asked annoyed.
“We are eating, can’t you see?” I said with an annoyed tone.
“Yes, I see that. But why the hell are you eating right besides me?” he asked while pointing to the bench we were sitting on.
“Because here we have a nice view of the forest, the wind blows just right and the other available bench looks like still have wet paint.” I replied while pointing to said bench. And yes, that was my true reason for being there. I didn’t expect him to be sitting on the only good bench of the garden. And since I felt that simply backing away would end up being my defeat, I decided to take place besides him without minding our previous conversation.
He stared at it for some time before finally sighing loudly.
“If that’s the case, then allow me to retire myself so you may enjoy your meal without this immature nobleman.” He said with an angry tone while raising from the bench.
“Geez, you are annoying.” I said annoyed before putting another piece of meat on my mouth, then I smiled happily once again as the savory taste filled my mouth.
“Yes, yes. I’m sorry for being immature.” He complained with a defeated tone, knowing that no matter what he said or did, he would be the one to take the worst part, it would amount to nothing at all.
“Geez… And so what if you are immature?” I complained loudly while crossing my arms in annoyance. “You are a five or six years old brat! You ARE supposed to be immature! Why the hell do all kids around here are always trying to act mature?” At my words, I felt as both Tian and him stared at me with dead eyes.
““I don’t want to hear that from you!”” They said in synch.
Ignoring their rebuttal, I turned to the boy once again and said.
“What’s really annoying me is that you are just using that to get angry at me for no reason!” He blinked surprised at my words, but I didn’t give him time to recover. “For god’s sake! I’m the one supposed to be angry here! You tried to make me your slave! But all I can do is get annoyed at how you are acting like it’s the end of the world!”
“You...” He said while looking at me for some time before clicking his tongue. “You have no idea what you just did to me there with your act, do you?” He asked angrily. “You destroyed my image in their eyes. The amount of effort I'll have to put into making them look up to me again will probably take the rest of my life since a single dirty aide managed to put me into a corner!”
“Hey! I make sure to keep my Cute Plebeian as clean as possible, so don’t go calling her dirty before me!” Tian said angrily while hugging me. Yulai stared at her in anger for a moment before shaking his head. “Besides, you are mistaken about an important thing.”
“Huh? What?” He asked confused.
“You think that you lost their respect all because Cute Plebeian managed to trick you. That’s not the case at all, you know?” She put on a serious cold tone that even made me who was held tightly against her feel a chill. “The moment you tried to get Plebeian all for yourself you lost face to almost all of us in the room.”
“Wha… Why is that?” He asked in a sincerely shocked tone. “I was displaying my power and position there, you know? Why would they look down on m...”
“Precisely because you were doing that that we became disappointed.” Tian stopped him. “You were abusing the power you earned for something so frugal like getting a slave. Ignoring the reason behind it, the moment you did that, you showed that you had no power nor morals on yourself whatsoever. Even ignoring morals, that I know that most of us don’t care about, the way you did it was extremely sloppy and rough. Prone to failures and extremely rough, with that alone they had enough reasons to lose their respect for you.”
“That… No. If I had taken that girl for myself they would have become awed with me! I’m sure of it!” He said while making a wide motion with his arm, as if trying to prove his point, but we ignored his attempt as Tian sighed loudly and shook her head. “That’s what father...” He added in a very low voice that seemed to escape Tian’s ear.

“It’s not his fault, Miss.” I told the girl who was hugging me, and she blinked surprised for a moment. “It’s not like he had the choice of growing up while believing that winning equals being respected.” I said with a shrug, noticing that it was something a bit deeper than a boy trying to show off thanks to his last words.
“Oh…?” Lady Tian said with a surprised tone before turning to the boy. “I see...” She said in an understanding nod, making Yulai, blink confused. “So, it’s just a poor education?” She asked.
Nodding, I agreed with her words, seeing as the boy looked at us in confusion.
“What do you mean? Clan-head always told me that only the victors are respected, no matter what!” He said with a frown.
“And because of that you think failing is bad and winning will get you respect?” I said in a sad tone, and saw as he blinked surprised. “Yeah, winning does gets you respect, but you seriously need to rethink your priorities if you think that’s the only thing that gets you respect.” I put on my best scolding tone while saying that, making him step back in shock and confusion.
“Besides, failing is a lot more common than you think.” Tian added from besides me, making me nod in agreement. “Don’t go thinking that you can live your whole life without failing. Father always tells me that instead of learning how to succeed, knowing how to fail is even better.”
Oh, I never heard that one. I like it, though. While nodding satisfied to myself, I saw as the boy tilted his head in confusion.
“Knowing how to fail?” He asked. “That’s foolish! What good would it do me if I were to learn how to fail?” His voice sounded irate as he shouted those words. Lady Tian became slightly surprised with his ferocity, but I simply looked at him feeling pity.
“And this is why you are being treated as a fool, you know?” I said annoyed. “What do you think it’s better? Improving the occasional gains or decreasing the frequent losses?”
“When… When you put it like that...” He said with a low voice.
“See? It wasn’t so hard to understand!” I said cheerfully while giving him a thumbs up. He and Tian looked in wonder at my action, but neither said nothing. “Anyway, now that this annoying topic is over, I'm going back to my meat~!” I said picking the plate I had left aside earlier.
“...I sincerely have no idea how to react to that...” I heard him say, but ignored him as I cheerfully chewed on the meat snack I had brought with me earlier.
I heard the sound of him scratching his head before saying something about taking a walk to think about it. Lady Tian gave one more of her Ho ho ho laughs before going back to cuddling me, and with this the matter is settled.
Or so would I think it would have gone, but the moment Yulai was about to take a turn to leave our field of vision, I became startled, raising myself from the chair in a hurried motion and looking towards the forest.
Tian reacted immediately, turning to me in a serious look and putting on an inquisitive gaze.
“I… There’s someone with a fair amount of inner spirit… That way.” I said pointing towards the forest. Tian followed my finger with her eyes and squinted her eyes.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. It walked a bit before stopping.” I said frowning and closing my eyes, trying to gather more information.
“Wait, what are you talking about?” The boy asked confused while turning back to us.
“She is very sensitive to spirits.” Tian explained to me briefly. “And she said that she felt what looks like a spiritualist on the forest.”
“You are joking, right? Sensing something in the forest?” Yulai asked doubtful, but he quickly gave up when looking at Miss’s cold eyes. “Se-Seriously?” He didn’t sound like he was believing in our words, but quickly shook his head. “Anyway, even if that’s true, from what I know, there’s a spirit beast in the woods, so it could be that.” He said with a shrug before walking away once again.
Blinking surprised, I turned towards Lady Tian with a confused look.
“Neh, what’s that spirit beast they keep talking about?” I asked, noticing how it wasn’t the first time I heard the term.
“Hmm? You don’t know?” Tian asked surprised and I shook my head. “Strange your father not having told you… he was supposed to hate Spirit beasts...” Huh? Father? The same one that’s always cheerful? “Anyway, just like how we can be born with spirit within ourselves, the same can be said to the beasts that roam the forests.” She explained me briefly.
“Heeh? Is that so?” I asked curious, but when I stopped to think about it, it does makes sense that something like that could be possible. “I want to see one...” I said getting curious, but Tian shook her head with a serious look.
“Don’t even try. Spirit beasts are all extremely aggressive, and even the weakest ones can compete with a tier two spiritualist… Or a spiritualist from the second heaven...” She said with a tone of warning.
“Heh? All of them?” I asked surprised and she nodded once again.
“Yes. All the Spirit beasts are strong and aggressive. In all history no one ever found a friendly spirit beast.” She looked towards the forest and gave a long sigh. “Luckily, they aren’t very likely to leave their territories, so we rarely have problems with them.” She said with a relieved sigh.
I nodded weakly before turning back to her. If it was just a spirit beast that already lived on the forest, I guess it doesn’t make much difference. Heaving a sigh, I decided to ignore it, but the moment I made that decision, I felt something else entering the edge of my sense.
“Huh... Lady Tian…” I said getting her attention back, she turned to me worried. “I don’t think it’s a spirit beast.” I said worried.
“...Why?”
“Just now, seven… No, eight normal humans started gathering around it.” I told her with a worried tone. “And it doesn’t looks like they are fighting at all...”
She looked at me for a second while processing my words, finally she nodded with a worried look.
“It’d be better to warn father.” She said briefly while standing up.
I nodded and followed her inside.
