The letter ended up being more of a formality as everything was put up online for us to view, just a simple ‘You have been accepted to U.A. Academy Department of Heroes’, followed by the date in spring, uniform requirements, and so on.
I was right about the secret requirements after all, earning Hero points based on how many you saved!
The scores were as follows.
I managed to earn 0 Villain points, and 52 Hero points! Apparently, some of the rubble I redirected was judged to have potentially saved lives. Though apparently most were given for ‘Hero like’ behaviour. It also said Hero points had been calculated based on the sum of what 6 judges gave, from 1 to 10 points, if they believed we ‘carried the spirit of a true Hero’
That must mean… 7th place. Izuku Midoriya, with a full 0/60 split, was the one who took down the 0-pointer in one hit. I cannot see any other way to get a perfect score.
In contrast, is Katsuki Bakugo in 1st with 77 Villain points and Zero Hero points... This one must be some sort of demon.
I hope I don’t end up with either of them, how the hell would I even compare?
Apart from that, there is an extra period from 15:20 - 16:10 for the Hero course.
One of the requirements for any Hero Course was, of course, the costume. The overall design was to be sent off within the next few days as they needed every one ready by the time school started.
I had come up with a few ideas that seemed sensible mechanically. The main body would be gauntlets, boots, a dark blue / light yellow colour pallet with a jacket and jeans making up the rest.
A mask was also a given as almost all Heroes had one, but I was thinking something that sat covering my eyes with integrated goggles as vision was important with my Quirk.
I was hoping to have the gauntlets and boots use a sort of hinge mechanism so I can redirect pulling down on them into firing dense rubber rounds and increase jumps respectively.
Anything more complicated will have to wait.
A week later, I almost contemplated trying to change the design of the boots when I figured out how to jump higher with just my Quirk on everyday shoes. It wasn’t anything massive, but it should become pretty impressive as my Quirk developed.

Mid Spring came around surprisingly quickly, probably due to all my free time being spent playing with my Quirk or just all the normal responsibilities that come with living in an orphanage. Unlike everyone else, I didn’t get to grow up with my Quirk, so could you blame me?
The morning of the first day, I dress in the Hero course uniform, grabbed my bag and books, and started the long walk to school. It’s size was immense. Hell, the 1-A Door was massive. There were a lot of size-based Quirks out there, so it only made sense, but walking through a smaller door in the middle of a larger door made me fill a bit ridiculous.
Felt like a cat flap.
I seemed to be one of the first there, beaten by only five other students, a tailed boy, a ‘normal?’ looking girl, this rock head boy, a multi-armed boy, and an invisible girl.
I chose a seat at the edge, next to the multi-armed boy, before starting introductions.
“My name is Mezo Shoji” he said from behind his mask
“Mine’s Kyudai Miwaku, pleased to make your acquaintance.”
Shoji and I chatted for a good 20 minutes as the room started to fill. He was incredibly friendly. His uniform was also unique, as it had to account for his 6 arms and the webbing that connected them. It stood out.
Talk turned to our Quirks and backgrounds, his being called Dupli-Arms and I mentioned how it would be extremely useful with all the kids back at the orphanage. He was a bit more reserved after that for some reason, not that I tried to pry.
Behind me, an argument had started between The Demon - Katsuki Bakugo and a kid with glasses.
Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.
“I-I’m from Somei private academy. My name is Tenya Ida.”
That was the glasses kid, a name to the face, I guess.
“Somei?!”
“A stuck up elitist, then? I should blow you to bits.”
I looked back to see this better but that was probably a mistake.
“What are you looking at? You’re plainer than Deku.” He yells, flicking a pen at me with surprising force.
Before things could escalate, two more classmates walked into the room.
First it was a plain looking girl, probably Ochaco Ururaka as by now I knew at least the name of most everyone in the room.
And in came the other one, The Titan Killer, Izuku Midoriya.
Meaning I was sharing a class with both heavy hitters...
Of course, it was precisely then that our teacher rolled into the room. And I do mean rolled, the tired eyed hero was inside a sleeping bag the entire time, before he hopped upright and got out.
It was quite surreal.
“I’m your home-room teacher Shota Aizawa. Pleased to meet you.”
The look on everyone’s face was priceless.
“Quickly now, change into your gym clothes and head out to the grounds.”
Being in the Hero course, it was a short walk to a huge training ground, marked with every physical test you could imagine. This was just a scaled-up version of the yearly physical schools do, as a measurement for the average and a marker into what needs to be done on the levels of schools and city. This really can’t be so different than a-
“A test… of our Quirks?!” I joined in with everyone’s shock, using Quirks during a test was unheard of.
“U.A. is known for its ‘freestyle’ educational system. That applies to us teachers as well.”
“Softball throwing. The standing long jump. The fifty-meter dash. Endurance running. Grip strength. Side-to-side stepping. Upper body training. Seated toe touch. You did all of these in middle school, yes? You standard No-Quirks-Allowed Gym Tests.”
“Bakugo. How far could you throw in middle school?”
“Sixty-seven meters”
“Great. Now try it with your quirk. Do whatever you need to. Just don’t leave the circle”
“Give It all you got.”
“Awesome.”
“DIE!!”
Yup, definitely a Demon.
“It’s important for us to know our limits. That’s the first rational step to figuring out what kind of Heroes you’ll be.”
705.2m
“Whoa!! This is awesome!”
“So we can use our Quirks for real!! Man, the Hero course is great!!” someone said.
A few others and I agreed, but it turned out to be the wrong choice of words.
“Awesome… you say? You're hoping to become Heroes after three years here… and you think it will be all fun and games?”
“Right, the one with the lowest score across all 8 events will be judge hopeless…”
“…and will be expelled”
“Your fates are in our hands. Welcome. This is…”
“The Hero course at U.A. High!”
Well... can’t be that hard, can it?
----------------------------------------
“Calamity is always around the corner.”
“I’d say Japan is full of unfair things.”
“Heroes are the ones… Who correct all that unfairness.”
“If you were hoping to spend your evenings hanging out, I’m sorry to tell you that for the next three years… U.A. will run you through the wringer.”
“That’s Plus Ultra”
“So bring it”
Event 1: 50 Meter Dash
Used the trick for higher jumps I found but more forwards for speed.
Event 2: Grip Strength
Just held the thing pointing away from my core to use my Quirk for a bit extra.
Event 3: Standing Long Jump
Event 4: Side Stepping
So far all my scores could be improved by using my Quirk right, either through that leaping boost strat I discovered, or just normal use like on the Grip Strength device.
Event 5: Throwing started quite a bit of rather entertaining drama.
Most throws were average, or twice that. But a few stood out, first was The Demon of course, he didn’t have to go again. Next was Ochaco Uraraka with her gravity based Quirk. Unsurprisingly it did not hit the ground, ever. So much so that an actual infinity sign showed up on Sensei’s handheld.
After her was Midoriya, who started to gear up for the throw, his skin started glowing with power, before throwing it a whole… 46 meters.
As it turned out, our teacher was the Erasure Hero: Eraser Head. He could cancel the Quirk of someone as long as he looked at them, obviously what happened just now. He pulled Midoriya aside for a talk of some sorts.
“Seems he receive some special instruction.” Iida pointed out.
“Yeah. The instruction to leave this school” Bakugo spat out with enough destain you’d think he had been personally wronged.
Looks like they have quite the history together.
When Midoriya stepped back into the ring, it went differently. There was no power to be seen in his arm this time. But when the ball left his hand, it flew far..

Point one more than Bakugo.
Must have upset him as he tried to rush the kid, but Sensei managed to restrain him almost instantly.
Event 6: Endurance Running
Yeah, we moved on from that really fast.
The Endurance training was time based, I was used to running all day with kids and I could take some of the strain off my legs using my Quirk, so I scored pretty high.
Event 7: Upper Body Strength
Event 8: Seated Toe Touches
I managed to get 7th, with last place unfortunately going to Midoriya.
He was incredibly distraught until Aizawa Sensei started speaking.
“I was lying about expelling someone”
“That was a rational deception… ment to bring out the best in all of you
“WHAAAAAAA?!” some of them screamed way too loud.
That was the end of my first day at UA, Surprisingly fun if you ignored the threats.
All in all, it wasn’t bad. A good show of the years to come, both regular subjects and free-form Quirk based ones. Even if the campus was a bit strange to accompany all of them.
The walk home was long after such an intense day at school.

----------------------------------------
The next day, we got the full daily classes experience with normal boring classes like English and Maths. Everyone seemed to force themselves through most of these until lunch.
All the food seemed to be world class stuff, prepared by U.A.’s own Cook Hero: Lunch Rush.
But what everyone seemed to really be after was the afternoon training, Hero Basic Training!!
“I Have… Come through the door like normal!!"
My god, the shading on this man. This here is All Might, the greatest Hero in all of Japan.
And here he is... teaching my class.
Oh this is going to be AMASING!!
