“Today’s activity is this!!”
“Battle training!!”
“And for that… in accordance with the “Quirk Registry and the special forms you filled out before being admitted…”
“COSTUMES!!”
“Yeahhhh!!”
“After you change, come out in ranking order to ground Beta!!”
“Looking good is very important, ladies and gentlemen!!”
“Look alive now!! Because from today on…”
“You’re all Heroes!!”
Now lets see how it turned out!
It was everything I had hoped for, fitting to the design I had sent in almost perfectly. the only major differences were the look of the boots and gauntlets due to the mechanisms used.
From the looks of it, there were short but thick metal rods sticking out of the bulkier area of both, which I was probably to pull on with my Quirk. The boot had them upside down as per my specifications of my Quirk as I could only draw inwards.
Both gauntlets had holes that a box like magazine attached on to supply the non-lethal rounds, with an added belt around my waist to hold a few more, along with other supplies.
Some liberty had been taken with my design, with the jacket being shorter than I had envisioned, and some extra strips and pattern to the colours.
And lastly, the face piece was mostly yellow with dark blue, hopefully reinforced, glass or plastic over each eye. They were a little big, which made it look a bit bug like.
I joined the others in listening to All Might’s directions.
“Indoor anti-personnel battle training!!”
“Villain battles are most commonly seen outdoors but statistically, the most heinous villains…”
“…Are more likely to appear indoors”
“You’ll now be split into Villain teams and Hero teams, and face off in two-on-two indoor battles!!”
The frog-like girl, Tsuyu Asui spoke up, “So no basic training?”
“Practical experience teaches you the basics!” he continued.
“What determines victory?”
“Can I just bast everyone away?”
“Are you threatening to expel someone like Aizawa Sensei did…?”
“How do we proceed to divide ourselves into teams?”
It got quite noisy here, so I’ll summarise.
The Battle Trial replicates a situation where the Villains are hiding a payload inside the building and the Heroes must secure it or defeat the Villains within a time limit. The Villains are granted victory if they successfully protect the payload or capture the Heroes.
Battle partners were decided by lots, though I was kind of shoved into a random team being that there was now one three-person team.
I was on Team I with Tail Boy - Mashirao Ojiro, and Invisible Girl - Toru Hagakura.
----------------------------------------
“Heroes are Team A!!”
“Villains are Team D!!”
“The villain team goes in first!”
“The timer starts in five minutes when the Hero team sneaks in, the rest of us will watch via CCTV!”
We had all moved to the basement of the building containing the Target.
“Watch closely and try to learn something, everyone!”
We enter the basement of the training building. Screens in front of us showing different angles inside, with a lot focused around the room with the target. Midoriya and Uraraka sneak in through one of the windows as a screen changes to show the corridor, signifying the start of the training.
Five minutes on the clock.
They jogged through what seemed to be endless hallways, twisting and turning, the perfect pla-
“A sneak attack!!” the small one, Mineta yells as Bakugo leaps out in front of the Heroes. He doesn’t hesitate to use his quirk, blasting the wall where Midoriya and Uraraka stood a second ago.
Midoriya had pulled Uraraka to the ground, as he seemingly predicted Bakugo’s assault.
“That’s low Bakugo!! Sneak attacks are so unmanly!!” shouted the Red Haired Kirishima.
“Yet they are a valid strategy! This is practical experience!” All Might was right about that, would rather be beaten now then fail later because of holding a Villain to my own standards.
“That Midori sure can dodge!” The Pink Mina Ashido exclaimed, everyone just calls her Mina.
Seems she likes giving nicknames. Midori is a good one.
Midori counters Bakugo’s right hook as they seem to be shouting at each other, probably the bad blood I noticed earlier between the two.
“What are they saying? These fixed cameras don’t have any sound.” Kirishima comments
“They’re communicating with micro-transceivers! We gave them to the battlers along with the building's blueprints.” All Might explains.
“Also…”
He pulls out a small roll of tape.
“This is capture tape! tying it around your opponent is sufficient proof of capture.”
“So, they’ve only got 15 minutes, but the Heroes don’t know the location of the weapon, right? Mina asked.
“Yes!”
“The Hero team is at a real disadvantage, huh.”
“Its like Aizawa told you.”
“Say it with me!”
“PLUS ULTRA”
“Ah, monsieur Bakugo is…! The sparkly eyed Yuga Aoyama calls out.
Back on the screens, I tune in to the action.
Bakugo propels himself forwards with his Quirk, delivering a kick from his left leg to Midoriya’s head.
Midoriya catches it with the capture tape, as Uraraka runs off.
Strong stuff, that tape.
Bakugo goes with another right hook, but Midoriya dodges effortlessly.
Surprisingly Midoriya runs off and Bakugo follows.
“He’s really angry. Scary" the casually clothed Denki Kaminari comments.

While those two face off, Uraraka reaches the target room but Ida seems to notice her presence, and gestures widely to the room.
It was perfectly clean, smart. Can’t use her Quirk if there is nothing to use it on.
Back to the others, Bakugo finally manages to confront Midoriya.
He… stops, hand up parallel to the floor, as the other rises up to grab his grenade styled arm-pieces
“Bakugo.”
“Stop it now, kid.”
I never heard All Might this serious bef-
“YOU TRYING TO KILL HIM?”
…
what
BOOM!!!
A full fifth of the building was missing.
7 cameras offline.
As the smoke cleared Midoriya was on the ground, cloths charred.
Bakugo walked from the smoke, like a true Demon.
Things might get a bit difficult.
----------------------------------------
Back at the target room, Uraraka levitates herself over Ida with her Quirk to try land directly on the target.
Ida fires up his Quirk, and lifts the target away from her, his insane speed making it impossible for her to touch it.
“Sensei, shouldn’t you stop him?” Kirishima shouted.
“Bakugo’s crazy. He’s looking to kill!!”
I mean, All Might did say it would be realistic...
“No…”
All Might continues, “Bakugo. Use that move again… and I will forcibly end the match.”
“You will lose.”
“Using massive attacks like that indoors is just asking to have your own stronghold destroyed! Whether Hero or Villain it’s a bad move! And a good way to lose points!”
Bakugo launches forwards with his Quirk straight towards Midoriya.
Midoriya counter… fails as Bakugo arcs over him and blasts his back.
“He used the first explosion to simultaneously feint and change his own attack. Then he followed up immediately with another…” the half-and-half Shoto Todoroki explains.
“He doesn’t seem like a thinker, but that strategy was fairly intricate.” Comments Momo Yaoyorozu.
“Damn this guy’s good...” Kaminari adds.
Back on screen, Bakugo goes in for a heavy right hook to Midoriya’s arm,
Grabs it.
Then throws him to the ground, enhanced by using his explosions for momentum.
He slams him down hard enough that Midoriya bounces.
“He’s running!” Mina says.
“It’s not manly, but he doesn’t have a choice. It’s odd…”
They seem to start another shouting match, definitely bad blood, as they both launch towards each other.
“Bakugo sure is confidant, huh,”
What’s left of Midoriya’s right sleeve explodes off as power flows through his arm.
It hold a green tint.
Bakugo’s palm lights up with explosive sparks, leaving a trail of smoke.
Kirishima screams
“Sensei!! This looks bad!”
“SENSEI!”
“Both of you…”
“STOP THI-”
SMASH!!
BOOOM
Blow meets blow.
The resulting power threatens to blow threatens to tear the building apart by it’s seams.
On one of the only remaining cameras, Uraraka uses one of the now loose support pillars as a bat to launch debris at Ida, distracting him enough to capture the target.
“The Hero…”
It seems impossible to try keep up with this...
“The Hero Team… WINNNNNNS!!”
----------------------------------------
“The losing team is nearly unscathed… While the winners are down for the count.”
The bird headed Fumikage Tokoyami called this out.
“They lost the battle, but they won the war so to speak.”
“It’s just training, though.” said Tsuyu Asui
They all gathered in the basement.
All but Midoriya, who was pulled out in a stretcher.
His right arm was bent in all the wrong directions… And I could still smell the charred flesh on his left.
“The VIP in this battle was Ida!!”
“Not Ochako or Midoriya? Even though they won?” Tsuyu asked.
“I wonder why? Anyone know?!”
“I do All Might Sensei.” Momo speaks out.
“It’s because Ida was most able to adapt to the scenario. From what I saw, Bakugo’s every action was motivated by an obvious personal grudge. And as you mentioned before, Sensei, using destructive attacks indoors is foolish.”
“Midoriya’s performance suffered from the same faults.”
“Uraraka lost focus halfway through. And her final attack was far too haphazard, such an attack would be unthinkable if the target nuclear weapon was real.”
“But Ida formed an actual counter-strategy, and he envisioned what an actual struggle would be like. He was only too late in reacting at the very end.”
“The Hero team only won because this was a training exercise with exploitable constraints.”
… Silence
“I-I’d also add that Ida was a bit too stiff, but… yes, you’re correct!”
Momo really living up to the ‘Number 1 Recommended First-year’ title right now.
----------------------------------------
Team B Heroes vs. Team I Villains.
Shoto Todoroki & Mezo Shoji vs. Mashirao Ojiro, Me & Toru Hagakure
I was up next then.
Ojiro had a large tail for his Quirk and Toru was completely invisible at all times.
Toru planned on sneaking up on them when they were distracted, with Ojiro and I being the distractions. I remove my shoes so they couldn’t pick me out from the others.
I had a moment to test out the launchers, both working just fine but requiring a decent amount of force to shoot well. Connecting some of the capture tape between the next shot on each should let me capture one of them before they can react.
We still had a minute or so, and there were some things I wanted to check.
“Do either of you know how strong Todoroki is? Like, could he freeze the whole room or something?” I asked them both.
Ojiro spoke up first, “Well... he was the 2nd recommended student for UA, and his dad is Endeavour, the Number 2 Pro Hero, so it could be possible.”
“Then lets look out for that, your costume says you know marshal arts yeah? You’d have the best reaction time out of all of us.”
I continued, “Shoji’s quirk lets him replicate parts of his body, so he’d be listening in to anything we say, so no shouting out plans.”
The five minutes was up, ad we were about to start our plan... When the entire building Froze.
Thanks to expecting something and Ojiro’s insane skills, he was able to jump to avoid getting his feet stuck.
I gestured to the corner and he seemed to have the same idea, as he hid waiting near the roof to catch them of guard. I grabbed onto the capture tape, positioning my arms to hopefully look like I was going for a up close manual capture.
Whether this works could be up to chance.
A minute later they both walked through the doorway.
“Bring it o-” Todoroki tried to say, before Ojiro jumped from his corner and tail whipped him mid air.
Shoji stepped in as one of his eyes noticed Ojiro, and he was big and tough enough to pose a challenge.
It did distract the both of them, and with his back turned to me, I dropped the tape, straining my Quirk enough to start a headache and have it wrap around Todoroki, knocking him out of the exercise.
With a bit of pelting from behind as I figured out proper aiming with my costumes gauntlets, and constant pressure from Ojiro’s sick moves, Shoji was also defeated.
“That was a close one”, I turned to face Ojiro. “You’ve got to teach me those moves!”
“Sure... lets get warmed up first though.”
Back in the basement, it was similar to the last match.
“The VIP of this match was Miwaku!” All Might announced.
“He worked with the others to form a plan of action, not underestimating his opponents! Unlike Todoroki, who acted with full confidence in his Quirks.”
“And it seems Miwaku had the foresight to ask about his opponents Quirks while sharing what he knew.”
“Communication is key to good teamwork!”
I just got prised by All Might.
THE Number 1 Hero in all of Japan.
There’s like, 30 people alive today that can claim that.
...
UA Rocks.
----------------------------------------
Team H vs. Team J
Fumikage Tokoyami & Tsuyu Asui vs. Eijiro Kirishima & Hanta Sero
Kirishima and Sero spent the first minute setting up tape everywhere using Sero’s Quirk, he mproduces tape from his elbows.
Sero mixed in some hidden capture tape, as Kirishima stood guard.
On the other screens, Tokoyami and Tsuyu rushed through the hallways. Probably trying to limit Sero’s setup time.
Tokoyami can summon a living darkness creature from himself that grow more or less powerful depending on surrounding light. Very powerful offensive and defensive capabilities.
Tsuyu can do anything most frogs can do. She is leaping from wall to ceiling as incredible speed, allowing her to flank from any position.
The quickly met at the Nuke room, splitting off to Kirishima vs. Tokoyami and Sero vs. Tsuyu.
Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow could only manifest as clawed arms as the building was well lightened. It still packed a punch, but against Kirishima’s Hardening Quirk it didn’t do much. Luckily Kirishima
could not step too far away from the Nuke for fear of failure.
Tsuyu could easily maneuver through the lines of tape, but whenever she got too close, Sero threatened to capture her. This repeated for a few minutes until Sero captured Tokoyami while he was distracted.
Turns out he can launch tape pretty far if needed.
With Tokoyami out of the picture, the Villain Team was easily able to overwhelm Tsuyu, resulting in the first victory by capture.
Back in the basement was the usual.
“The VIP of this match was Sero!”
“Not only for capturing both Heroes, but also for his skilled preparations resulting in the capture!”
“The decision to bunker down in one room was the best choice of action as the other team had the mobility advantage with their Quirks.”
“This was the best example of power not being everything. After the first two matches, it may have seemed that complete power was always the best course of action. Ut there are many Heroes who work behind the scenes to make a successful rescue. And sometimes, using power will cause more harm than good.”
His smile seemed a bit grimmer at that.
----------------------------------------
Next is Team G vs Team C
Denki Kaminari & Kyoka Jiro vs. Momo Yaoyorozu & Minoru Mineta
While this match lasted longest so far, though that wasn’t very difficult, it was still one-sided.
At the start of the match The Villain Team of Momo and Mineta set up thoroughly. Momo’s Quirk let her turn fat into any object she understood well enough, allowing for elaborate traps and perfect countering. Mineta’s Quirk let him pull ball from where his hair should be. These would naturally repel him, simply bouncing off, but would stick for a set amount of time to anything that touches it.
All in all, it would be hugely challenging to get to the Nuke.
Kaminari and Jiro took the slow but steady route, Jiro using her Quirk to detect the Villains’ presence. Connected to her earlobes were a controllable wire and earphone jack. They could be used as a weapon, or as a listening device.
It took a good five minutes to reach the main room, where Mineta had covered a good portion of any open areas, and Momo had set up a lot of machinery.
Kaminari entered first, flanked by Jiro.
Both jumped aside as Mineta tried to pin them down.
They both ran different directions, Jiro flanking while Kaminari sprinted headfirst between all the machinery recklessly.
Momo held a bat in one hand and a shield in the other, and the traps in front of her came to life. But before they could stop Kaminari, he discharged his Quirk.
His quirk caused him to generate electricity in his body that he could store up and discharge later.
A portable phone bank basically.
Electricity arced through the air, and into all the tch, frying the circuits.
Momo quickly dropped her metal tools and created conductive polls to draw the electricity away from her and Mineta.
He became a complete idiot after that, seems his Quirk can short his brain.
Mineta immobilised both Kaminari and Jiro, who had been outnumbered after that.
“The VIP for this match was Yaoyorozu!”
“Her quick thinking was the only thing stopping Kaminari’s plan from succeeding.”
“While she didn’t take his Quirk into account beforehand, it was still impressive.”
“The Heroes should have had a backup plan for such a heavy commitment with losing Kaminari after his attack.
“Last up is Team E vs Team F!”
----------------------------------------
Yuga Aoyama & Mina Ashido vs. Rikido Sato & Koji Koda
This match was surprisingly balanced.
Aoyama’s Quirk let him shoot a laser from his bellybutton, a powerful offensive option.
Mina’s Skin could secrete different types of acid, none of which harmed her of course.
Very strong offensive, but each had its downside.
Aoyama could only sustain fire for a second before he needed a quick pause, and Mina could harm Aoyama and make the ground unsafe and unstable.
The Heroes team is unbalanced though.
Sato’s Quirk is Sugar Rush, he can turn the sugar in his body into immense strength.
Very strong on the offense.
Koda on the other had can control animals, of which there are none in the building, so he is essentially cripped Quirk wise.
The Villain team move out to catch the Heroes unaware, Mina sliding on her acid for speed as Aoyama took the rear. Koda hung back as Sato headed through the maze-like corridors.
Eventually they met in a long straight of corridor, giving neither side the advantage.
The Villains were very limited in moves they could make without seriously harming someone, so Sato was able to rush in and restrain Aoyama, while Koda distracted Mina.
They couldn’t just tie Mina up as any contact with her acid would be damaging, and she could slowly melt the tape.
It ended up in a stalemate between Mina and Sato, allowing Koda to run to the Nuke, winning the game.
“The VIP for this match would have to be Sato, if only because you were all limited in what you could do due to the rules.”
“Sato was able to occupy the Villain Team, though had this been a real situation it would have been impossible for the Heroes to win as long as they stayed in that hallway.”
“Remember, training can only be so accurate to the real thing.”
“We cannot have students put their lives at risk for nothing.”
