Alice went through her notifications one by one.
Level Up. You have reached Lvl 1. Please select your class from the available options below. Stat points will be distributed accordingly after selection.
“Mmmm seems like I have three options to choose from,” Alice thought as Luna brought her the food she had ordered. Luna noticed Alice staring into nothingness and asked, “Dealing with system notifications, dear?"
“System?… So that's what this whole interface is called. I’m glad it’s not only me that has it,” thought Alice to herself before responding to Luna, “Yeah, got a few when I entered the town and I’m finally able to look at them.”
“Sounds good, I’ll leave you to it, enjoy your meal,” said Luna as she walked away.
Alice turned her attention back to the system notifications and started reading her options.
Class options
Healer - A mage specializing in healing magic. Healers use healing magic to cure injuries, debuffs and ailments such as poisons and paralysis. + 5 Intelligence, + 2 Wisdom, + 5 free points
“No surprise there, it seems like the system gives options based on previous experience. I was a doctor, so it makes sense. Let’s see… +12 stat points total and I can use magic? That sounds pretty amazing to be honest,” said Alice enthusiastically. “But wait, how will I attack things, I need some sort of offensive skill if wolf squirrels are going to randomly attack me and this class does not mention anything about being able to fight things, only heal... Mmm let’s look at the second option.”
Brawler - An offensive class specializing in hand-to-hand combat. A brawler uses their superior strength and agility to approach enemies and attack in close quarters. + 3 Strength, + 2 Dexterity, + 2 Vitality, + 5 free points.
“Mmm... I guess I get why I’m getting this option. I did kick that squirrel in a pretty badass way, but I don’t really see myself as a Brawler. I can attack things with this class, but I was liking the idea of being able to use magic. It also has +12 stat points. Same as the healer class. Yeah this one is not it,” argued Alice in her head.
Combat Healer - A mage specializing in healing magic while also being able to do basic attacks. Combat Healers use healing magic to cure injuries, debuffs, conditions, and ailments such as poisons and paralysis. Combat Healers also possess basic combat skills and are proficient with light weapons allowing them to effectively deal light damage to enemies. +5 Intelligence, +3 Dexterity, +2 Strength, + 5 free points

“Best of both worlds! I can heal and attack things and +15 stat points. Yeah, no brainer!”
Without giving it a second thought Alice chose Combat Healer. Another set of notifications popped up.
Combat Healer class chosen. +5 Intelligence, +3 Dexterity, +2 Strength have been allocated. + 5 free points

“Uhhh spells and skills, let’s see those first and I'll allocate those 5 free points later, once I know what each stat is for,” said Alice grinning.

“Seems pretty straightforward, and I’m liking the doctor theme that I got going on. Very perceptive, System, good job!” Alice thought. “Alright now onto my new skills."

Tend Wounds - Lvl 1
Hike - Lvl 1
[New] Light Weapons - Lvl 1

“Alright! Three new skills... Let's see what they do exactly,” said Alice curiously.

“Again with the doctor theme, nice... plus Surgical Strike sounds and looks badass... Definitely a good idea to choose Combat Healer... High five, Alice, Tim would be proud,” Alice thought to herself with a smile that slowly turned into a frown when she remembered her husband. Would she ever see him again? Her eyes started to water just a little bit. Luna approached Alice and said, “Are you okay, dear? Was the food that bad?"
That got a much needed chuckle out of Alice. “No, no the food is great thanks, I just thought about someone... that's all,” said Alice, wiping her eyes.
“Ohh did this someone break your heart, dear?” Luna asked. “Because let me tell you...”
"No no, nothing like that. He is… uhh… no longer with us,” Alice explained as she wasn't sure how Luna would react to the truth of Alice being teleported from another world.
“Oh, I see, dear. Sorry to hear that,” Luna said in an empathetic tone. “If I may give you a little bit of unsolicited advice: It’s okay to grieve, dear, but don’t let it consume you. What would he do if he knew you were crying for him right now? Would he be happy? I don’t think so. Just try to live the life he would have wanted you to live and everything will fall into place. Trust me!” finished Luna.
“What would Tim do huh… That's a nice way of thinking,” thought Alice.
“You’re right, Luna: enough is enough. Time to be the badass he would’ve liked me to be, and I will find a way to get back home,” replied Alice, standing up with a new perspective in her eyes.
“That’s the attitude, dear, you go ahead and be badass… after you pay for the meal, it will be 2 silver coins,” said Luna.
“Oh yes... of course, here you go,” said Alice as she pulled 2 silver coins from her pocket.
“So, how does one become a badass?” said Alice to herself while grabbing her chin.
“Most badasses I know are adventurers, dear, you might want to try and join the guild? It’s 4 or 5 blocks north of here,” replied Luna.
“Adventurer’s Guild, that sounds familiar,” thought Alice as she remembered how Tim would mention those in his games. He would say, "You're not really an adventurer if you're not part of the guild, babe."
“It’s settled then, I will join the guild and become an adventurer,” exclaimed Alice. “That’s what Tim would do,” Alice thought to herself. 'WWTD, what would Tim do?' Alice just found her new life mantra.
