“Rami, I didn’t know you were an adventurer?” said Alice.
“Of course, I am. What did you think I was?”
“Mmm… a bartender?”
“Oh yeah, that makes sense. That’s something I do on the side to meet month end and meet new people.”
“Hey Grimmy, are you sure Rami is the one? He doesn’t look that strong to me,” Bonetta asked Grimmy.
“I am plenty strong!” replied Rami, putting his hand on the table.
“I asked Grimmy…” said Bonetta, standing up towering over Rami in a menacing tone.
“…yes, my bad, Bonetta, I spoke out of turn,” replied Rami, taking a few steps back.
“Be nice, Bonetta! He is our team member now. If Grimmy said he will do, then he will do.”
Bonetta grunted and sat back down.
Grimmy cleared his throat and said, “He will be a nice addition to the team. He complements both of you in an exceptionally good way. Rami, if you do not mind, can you share your character sheet with Bonetta and Alice please. Just the basics is enough.”
Rami nodded.
Name: Rami Ulten

Class: Water Mage
Skills:

Water Bend - Lvl 3
Identify – Lvl 2
Spells:
Water Shotgun – Lvl 3
Water Prison – Lvl 2
Water Sniper – Lvl 2
“Uhhh,” said Alice in awe, “your spells sound amazing!”
Rami chuckled nervously.
“If you take a closer look, you will see that he has a very well-rounded set of spells,” Grimmy interjected. Alice and Bonetta sighed knowing what was coming next. Another lecture from Grimmy. “Shotgun is a multi-target spell letting him push away waves on enemy. Water Prison allows him to incapacitate enemies by trapping them in a sphere of water. While the enemies are trapped, they are also taking damage, unless they can breathe underwater. Lastly, the Sniper, a long-range spell with considerable damage output. I am surprised that you had to bartend to make extra money. Your set of spells would allow you to finish most quests solo.”

Rami chuckled again. “Yeah, I guess I just wasn’t getting the correct quests.”
“Now, Bonetta, can you please share your character sheet?” continued Grimmy.
Bonetta agreed with a hand gesture and her character sheet appeared:

“Awesome!” said Rami as he looked at Alice’s sheet. “You’re an Alterterrestial, I’ve never met someone from another planet before.”
Not long passed, before Rami’s scales went pale. “Death’s Boon…” whispered Rami. “Did I just enlist in a cult?”
“No, we are not a cult, Rami,” replied Alice.
“Alice, what did I tell you about the Boon?” said Bonetta, looking around to see if anyone was listening.
“Sorry! I forgot!” replied Alice. “Look, Rami, we are not bad people or anything, I just happen to have a boon from the god of death okay,” said Alice in between her teeth.
“Okay, sounds good,” replied Rami.
“Really? That’s all the explanation you need?” said Alice.
“Yeah, look, I am a Sahuni, I know how it feels to be discriminated against just by how you look. In your case it is not how you look necessarily, but your character sheet, I guess. My point is you look like a nice person, you have not done anything that would suggest you are some looney death cultist. Plus, Bonetta trusts you, and that’s an admirable feat to achieve on its own. I’ve never heard of Bonetta joining a party before.”
“She hasn’t?” replied Alice. “Bonetta, am I your first?!”
“Don’t feel too special. I just happen to like you… a little… okay?” said Bonetta with red on her cheeks.
Alice’s smile couldn’t be wider. As she was about to launch towards Bonetta with open arms to give her the biggest hug she had ever received, Grimmy said, “Well, now that you all shared, it’s my turn.”
Name: Grimaldi aka Grimmy
Race: Reaper
Level: 7
Guide Familiar
Skills:
Perfect Memory - Lvl MAX
Identify - Lvl MAX
Battle Strategist - Lvl MAX
“LVL MAX!” said Bonetta and Rami in shock.
“Is that hard to reach?” asked Alice.
“I’ve never heard of anyone reaching MAX Lvl on anything before,” said Rami, still in shock.
“How long did that take you?” demanded Bonetta.
“A few millennia,” responded Grimmy.
“A FEW MILLENNIA!” said Bonetta and Rami in an even bigger shock.
“Alice… how did you get this familiar?” said Rami, slowly moving his head from Grimmy’s character sheet towards Alice.
“Mmm… Joe… I mean the God of Death gave him to me?” Alice responded, looking at her feet.
“Joe? God of Death? You mean to tell me that you actually met the God of Death? In person?!” continued Rami.
“Mmm…yeahhhh…”
“Okay… I need a minute…” said Rami, falling on his chair.
Bonetta, still looking at Grimmy in awe, said, “Alice, I don’t think you understand the magnitude of what happened to you. Getting a boon is significant enough, but meeting a God will alter everything, from the skills and spells the system gives you, to the classes you can evolve into. You have been given a terrific opportunity.”
“Really?” replied Alice.
“Of course, I mean just look at Grimmy here. The things he will be able to help you with. The guidance he will be able to give you.”
“He wasn’t much help against the Den Mother,” Alice murmured.
“That was entirely your fault,” exclaimed Grimmy.
“Alice, you could even reach S grade with Grimmy by your side.”
“Yeah, that’s the plan,” replied Alice.
“Well, I’m sure you will get there no problem.”
“Well, we are a team, so as long as you are willing, we can get there together.”
“That sounds amazing to me!” exclaimed Bonetta.
“Rami? What about you? Still thinking of joining the team?”
Rami was blankly staring at the ceiling, still processing all the information that he had just given.
“Rami?” Alice tried again.
“Eh? What? Sorry I spaced out.”
“Are you still joining the team?”
“Are you kidding? Of course I am. I will be here as long as you’ll have me. I wouldn’t pass out on an opportunity like this, but listen, we need to keep this whole meeting gods and millennia-old familiars a secret. At least until we are strong enough to deal with the consequences.”
“Yeah, Bonetta already said that,” replied Alice.
“Yet, here we are...” said Bonetta.
“Oh, come on, he is part of the team, he needed to know.”
“Sure, pretend it wasn’t a mistake sharing the information about that Boon of yours.”
“Anyway,” interjected Grimmy, “now that we all know what each of us can do, I think it’s time for us to rest. Tomorrow morning, we will head out and do some hunting together. We need to train battle formations before we go out on our quest. We will meet here tomorrow morning for some light breakfast, and we will go off hunting after.”
Everyone nodded, said their farewells, and went their separate ways.
