Alice and Grimmy reached the accessory shop the lady receptionist recommended. It was a jewelry shop. It sold all varieties of rings, earrings, and necklaces.
Grimmy immediately started identifying all the F-grade pieces he could find to see which one better suited Alice. Grimmy was looking for something to increase Alice’s agility as well as her vitality. Those two were important since it would allow Alice the ability to dodge and take hits. One more requirement that Grimmy had to comply with was that whatever the accessory, it had to be red.
Grimmy quickly found a pair of earrings that met the criteria:
Ruby Earrings of Vitality. +10 Vitality.
The earrings were simple. A circular barbell design, black metal with rubies adorning each end. The earring would go on the top part of the ear. Alice loved them. Alice was not a materialistic person. She liked to look good, but never extravagant. She would never wear anything too flashy or things that would make eyes turn on her. She preferred a simpler way of life where brand clothing and flashy clothes were not a part of it.
After deciding to buy the earring and putting it aside, Grimmy started looking for the other pieces of equipment that Alice was missing. In Sfiraz, you could only wear a total of 10 pieces of equipment at a time. Any extra pieces of equipment that you put on would not have any effect on you.
Grimmy knowing this, was looking for Alice’s rings and necklace next:
Ring of Agility. +5 Agility
Medic’s Necklace. Increased potency of healing spells.
The ring was simple. It was a silver band with a ruby stone embedded in it. The necklace was also made of silver and had a ruby pendant with a black cross marking on it.
“Alright, Alice, we have everything we need for now. We should be able to get better equipment from dungeons and high-level quests later.”
Alice, happy with the three things Grimmy picked, said, “You’re the boss, Grimmy,” as they exited the store and turned their focus to their second quest, which was to deliver some ingredients they picked up back in Ambar City to the local hospital. The ingredients were medicinal herbs used to make health potions.
They quickly made their way to the hospital and walked directly to the front desk. Being in the hospital got Alice a little nostalgic. She was used to going to a hospital for work almost every day for quite a few years, so being back in one, even if it wasn’t back on Earth, felt right.

“We got the ingredients you requested from Ambar City,” said Alice.
“Thank you very much! Let me get the Head Healer to sign off on the completion of the quest and give you your reward.”
A few minutes later, the front desk receptionist came back accompanied by an elderly human lady dressed in a long brown dress covered by a white robe. She started inspecting the ingredients to verify that they were what they requested on the quest. A couple of minutes passed, before she approved of them and instructed the receptionist to pay their reward.
As they were about to leave the hospital, three gold richer, a group of adventurers walked in. One of them was severely injured. He was missing a chunk of his torso and had open wounds all over what was left of it.
“What happened to him?!” asked the lady in the brown dress.
“Bear attack,” said one of the adventurers while carrying the severely injured one.
Without hesitating, she cast Heal and a few of the wounds started to close. She cast Heal again, and again… She ended up casting Heal 5 more times until all the wounds closed in their entirety.
The adventurer’s HP was still dropping. “What is wrong with him? Why is his HP still dropping?” asked another adventurer.
The lady in the brown dress looked puzzled. She started looking over the man to see if she had missed any other wounds. “Miss?! what’s wrong with him?!” repeated the adventurer.
“I… don’t…”
Alice’s instincts kicked in. She quickly approached the dying man and started tapping his abdomen in different places. “He has internal bleeding. The bear must have swiped at one of his organs.”
Alice focused on the man’s torso, specifically the insides, and cast Cure Sickness. Within seconds the man’s HP stopped dropping. She subsequently cast Heal to top off his HP.
“How did you...?” said the lady in the brown dress.
“Oh, I see this all the time,” said Alice calmly. “It is quite neat to have a spell that magically repairs it instead of having to go digging in with a knife to find the problem. Anyway, he should be fine now.”
“Thank you! Thank you!” said the adventurer in tears. The bear came out of nowhere and was going to attack me, but he stepped in right before the attack reached me. He saved me, and you saved him. We are forever grateful. Here, have our gold, please, is there anything that you need?”
“Oh no that is okay. Keep your gold. Use it to hire a healer next time you go on adventuring. It was no trouble really. I am just happy we are able to save him,” said Alice with a smile.
“Thank you!” said the same adventurer as she bowed to Alice. They left a couple of seconds later.
“That was impressive,” said the lady in the brown dress once the adventurers were gone. “My name is Diane, pleasure to meet you.”
“Alice, nice to meet you too.”
“You know, I have been looking for some help around here, and you seem to have unconventional knowledge on how to analyze injuries. We would love to have you.”
Alice entertained the offer for a second, but quickly said, “Oh no that’s okay I’m not interested but thank you for the offer.”
Alice was a good doctor back on Earth. She knew she was more than capable as a doctor, and she helped a lot of people. She liked helping people and she could help a lot more people here with her skills and newfound spells, but that life was gone. She was no longer on Earth, and she had new goals. Plus, what would Tim say if he found out she stayed at a hospital doing the same thing she did back on Earth, instead of being out there being an adventurer and defeating monsters. “Tim would not be okay with that,” Alice thought.
“Oh well, the offer stands if you change your mind.”
“Thank you, hope to see you again!” said Alice and she and Grimmy left the hospital.
As they started making their way out of town to begin the last quest Alice was deep in thought.
“Are you regretting not joining the hospital,” said Grimmy to Alice.
“No, that’s not it.”
“You know, you will still be helping people as an adventurer if that is what you are worried about. You will be saving lives directly and indirectly as an adventurer,” added Grimmy.
“Yeah, I know,” said Alice still deep in thought.
“Then what is it?”
“It’s just that…” said Alice, looking at her feet.
“Alice, you can tell me anything. I have been tasked to help you by Lord Death and that is exactly what I will do.”
“It’s just that I don’t think my ruby accessories match the red satchel, look the satchel is clearly blood red and the accessories are ruby red. Grimmy, they do not match!”
