“Good,you made the right choice but before i tell you more,i need to check something.”the man said as his face turned into a devilish grin.

Just as the words left his mouth,the room got tenser. The pressure in the room intensified. I felt goosebumps down my back as the room got colder due to the pressure.

What’s going on?

I turned my gaze at the man noticing that his presence increased. His presence turned from a normal average guy into that of a devil. He had an gray aura around him which made him looked menacing. Every fiber of my body was screaming at me that he was dangerous. I fought hard to fight my instincts that was telling me to get the hell out of him.

It wasn’t until i spent some of my remaining spiritual energy to my brain that i could stopped my body from fainting from the pressure just like my sister just did.

That’s spiritual energy! He has spiritual energy!

“Oh,looks like i was right,you do have that power,so that’s why you could resist the mind control to a certain degree” the man said.

“Let me help you with that” the man said as he placed his hand on my forehead.

I felt spiritual energy enter my head and onto my brain as he did that. The amount of energy that was entering me was tremendous. It was at least five times my total amount.

I was in so much pain as the energy split up and branched out to all parts of my conscious. The pain was unimaginable, my head felt like it was being burned alive. After it covered every part of my conscious, it started to spin. As it spun, i felt that i had more control of my body. More and more of my brainwash mind started to return to me. Soon the pain turned to pleasure as i regained control of everything. I felt anew, it was as if every part of my body was filed with power.

Just as i was bathing in the power, the energy dissipated. All the energy left my body as i slumped down onto my bed.

“So how do you feel?”

“Do you have full control of your body again? How was the power, did it feel wonderful? That’s what it feels like when you have total control of spiritual energy”

“When you mastered spiritual energy,you can have the strength of 100 men, knocked people out of consciousness with just your presence and even do things you never believed it was possible.”

“You have a gift Tate, a gift of the gods and with that gift you will do many great things. You are the fifth person in this rotten city who possess this power. In the Resistance including me,we have two who can use this power and with you we will have three.”

“Finally, we have a chance of winning this war! You will be the tipping point which will cause the fall of the Legion and the rise of the revolution! Not only will you be able to get us an army by being princess Anna,in the future you will be a pivotal force in fighting the Legion when your power grows” the man said.

“Can you tell me more about this power? I don’t have much understanding of what this power is and how to use it.” I asked.

“This power, I do not have much knowledge of this mysterious power either. This power is a gift that not many can obtain. From my shallow knowledge and experience on this subject, i know that this power many great things and many more which i have yet to discover. This power can manifest in different ways for different people. Take me for example, my energy allow me to have an imposing aura which exerts great pressure capable of forcing the greatest warrior to their knees. I also have a slight ability to persuade the minds of people.”

“However, Alra, who is the other person in the Resistance who also has this power is unable to exert great pressure and persuade minds like me. His powers works differently from mine, using his energy,he can increase his bodily functions tenfold. He can lift ten times his weight and keep up with a Zoombike for hours before running out of energy. Though he is unable have an imposing aura, he has the ability to feel everything around him.”

“I do not have specific information on the abilities of the other two who also have the power but with the information i have collected so far,i can make some conclusion to this mysterious power. Firstly,this power can affect a person in three ways,mind,body and spirit. Secondly, each person specialty and ability in each way the power improve is different. Thirdly, this power is undetectable to anyone other than other users.”

“I do not have enough knowledge to make any other deductions but when you abilities grow, i’m sure things will become clearer. From my experience with me getting my powers, you are at the infant stage.”

“Right now your mana has not increased at all since you got your power,is it not?” the man asked.

“Yeah,How did you know?” I answered.

“That’s because me and Alran experienced it before. When our powers manifested, our mana pool did not grow until our core formed in our sea of conscious. I suspect that this is due to our body using mana form our core. So instead of mana pool increasing, the mana that is taken in to increase our mana pool is turned into spiritual energy instead. This stage lasted a few years for me until i realised that i could use my spiritual energy to help form the core instead of just relying on mana. This increased the speed of my core forming.”

“When the core finished forming, i obtained more powers. Before my core was formed,i could only use the energy to persuade and trick others. After my core formed, i gained the ability to suppress people with my powers. In the future when your core is formed, i’m sure you will gain a great ability which will help in our war against oppression ” the man assured me.

“Now that i’ve told you all i know about spiritual energy, let me debrief you on your mission. For your mission, you must get the aid of the finance minister, the Emperor, Duke Kinston Biwar, the Academy Head Wise Agnor and the four great guild. With all these forces, we will have enough power to forcefully overthrow the Legion.”

“You will continue doing your previous mission of masquerading as the princess will trying to get their aid. After your mission is complete send us a message using this device, press the red button when you are in dire straits and we will send our forces immediately, press the other button when you have completed your mission.” The mad said as he passed an odd device to me.

The device looked like a hairpin with two small buttons on each end,one blue and one red.

I pinned the hairpin on my hair.

“Now any questions?” the man asked.

“What’s going to happen after the mission is complete and what will happen to my guards?” I asked.

“After your mission is complete, the resistance will find you a surgeon or a mage who can turn you back to a man. As for the guards,i have already using my ability to make them think nothing happened just now. When i was with them,i noticed they had spirit energy implanted into their head, most likely by the spiritual energy user of the Legion. I left the Mind control on so that the Legion don’t realised anything is wrong.” He answered.

“So any last questions?” He asked.

“Will i be able to keep in contact with my sister?” I asked.

“No, it will be very difficult for you to stay in contact with your sister. You will be more than a few weeks of travel away from the city. It would be better if you two don’t contact each other so that it will be easier for you to be in character twentyfour-seven. I think you should wake your sister up and spend your last few hours with her before you left the city.” He said.

After he said that,the pressure in the room decreased, his presence turned back to normal and that he left the room.

I stared at his back as he walked out before going back to my sister. I shook her awake a few seconds before she woke up.

“Tate? Did he just used his skill again? How many times have i told him to notify me first before he uses it. Urggg!” Cass bellows in rage.

“So you accepted it,huh? Tate why did you accept? You aren’t the type who can handle this. So why?” She asked as tears flowed.

“Thats right,i aint the type who can handle this. For my whole life, i have always been afraid of what people thinks of me, afraid of what might happen,afraid of failure, afraid that if i did something,everything will go wrong. Ever since dad died,i lost confidence, i was afraid of everything. Even when i did well in school and got a lot of job offers,i was afraid that if i accept,things would go wrong.”

“But now i have a chance, a chance to prove to myself that i can do something. A chance to stand out and show the world that i Tate, am not just a person who will hide in the shadows forever. I realised this when i was being brainwashed, that even if i stay in the shadows or if i stand out in front of others, in the end if i don’t have the strength. I would lose everything. If i was strong,i can protect myself and everyone around me. Not only that,if i do this,i can have revenge for what did they did to me” I explained.

With that we spent our last few hours together talking about what we been doing since we last saw each other.

“Looks like this is our good bye” Cass said as the morning lights shined through the window.

“Yeah,it is.” I said as i hugged her.

“Don’t get yourself hurt,be careful out there and please stay safe” She said.

“Yeah,yeah don’t worry ‘Mom’” I replied sarcastically.

With a sad laugh she turned and left the room through the window.

And with that I was alone again.
