Chapter 58: Vampire Vs. Goblin Boss

“No!” Vlad shouted fearfully, still trying to get to the Monster before it killed his friends.

Thankfully, just as the battleaxe got close to cutting down Chloe and Arthur, a light bolt was shot at the Boss’s head, making it stumble to the side while its Axe clashed against the floor against the player pair.

Both Vlad and the other two glanced over at Lucy, who was the one who fired the Light Bolt at the Goblin Boss and saved her friends. And the Boss soon realized that as well, spinning around and glaring in her direction with its sharp, menacing yellow eyes.

“Crap…!” Vlad caught on to what the Goblin Boss was about to do, and so did Lucy as she took a couple of steps back out of fear.

Noticing her distress, the gralls guarding her stood in the front, raising their weapons at their former Boss, determined to protect Lucy even if it meant sacrificing their lives. Committing to the mission, they watched as the Boss released a low, rumbling growl and marched over to them with bloodshot eyes.

However, that was its first mistake since its attention was on someone else other than Vlad. Using that opportunity, the vampire blurred behind the Boss with [Blood Dash] and quickly launched three powerful Blood Strike attacks, hitting it directly in the back.

The Boss let out an annoyed yet painful roar just as it turned its sights on Vlad, spinning around to face him. Instead of being afraid, Vlad could only smile, since he got what he wanted.

“That’s right,” He muttered with a grin. “Eyes on me, you green goliath.”

With Vlad as its new target, the monster swung at the vampire to sever his body in half, only for him to jump back using [Blood Dash]. With a bit of distance between them, he hurled a couple more Blood Strikes, this time aiming at its legs, attempting to cripple the Boss and make it easier to kill it.

Sadly, much like his blood strikes to the back, the condensed blades of blood barely carved into the legs. He still managed to cut its skin, but they were very shallow. Slightly worse than a paper cut, but not as bad as a knife wound.

“Tch…!” He clicked his tongue, clearly realizing the power difference between them.

If he had more offensive skills, this fight would’ve been a lot easier, but he was stuck with his spear and [Blood Strike]. Which meant he had to make the most of it.

He needed to keep striking a specific area; just enough so his [Blood Strike] could wound the creature enough to the point where he could kill it.

The Goblin Boss continued its assault, barreling toward Vlad like a one-man stampede. The vampire didn’t let up, instantly moving to the side to avoid getting trampled to death. While rolling across the floor, Vlad swung his arms to launch for Blood Strikes, repeatedly aiming at its legs and further carving into its flesh bit by bit.

The Goblin boss was getting tired of his attacks and angrily slammed its blade against the floor, sending more concrete debris flying everywhere. Vlad hastily raised his arms to block any rock pieces from hitting his face, but that was a fatal error on his part.

While shielding his face, the Goblin Boss blurred toward the vampire, swinging its battleaxe at him. Vlad barely reacted in time, leaping back to avoid the blade, but not completely since the axe managed to gouge out a chunk of his side.

Vlad winced in pain while rolling away from the Goblin Boss. Once he was couched on the floor, his hand latched onto his wound, feeling the pain flare up in response. Distracted by the pain, he didn’t notice as the hulking Goblin got close to him, its giant hand reaching out to grab him.

He didn’t have enough time to activate [Blood Dash] to evade its massive palm, quickly resorting to using his spear to slash it. The Boss reeled its hand back in pain while angrily glaring at the vampire. But before it could attack him, the Gralls that weren’t killed came back and jumped on its back.

The Boss abruptly stood up while trying to shake off the Gralls while they continued to stab and pierce its skin like before. However, one of the Gralls was in the range of the Goblin Goliath’s hand, instantly getting grabbed and pulled off its back.

While within its grasp, the Boss squeezed its hand, slowly crushing the Grall. Vlad couldn’t afford to lose any more Gralls, and launched a powerful Blood Strike, aiming it right at the Goliath’s wrist. The initial impact surprised the Boss as it promptly loosened its grip on his Grall. However, the moment its bloodshot yellow eyes were trained on the vampire, it closed its hand into a fist, instantly killing the Grall; its body exploding into a viscous shower of blood and viscera.

“Dammit…!” Vlad cursed, enraged that another Grall was killed.

Angrily taking a brief headcount, he now only had five Gralls left. Two of them helped Vlad attack the Boss while the rest were still guarding Lucy. Two Gralls weren’t enough to help him fight against the monster, which meant he might have to use the ones by Lucy’s side to even the odds.

The Boss glanced at its hand that crushed the Grall, noticing its blood and guts stained all over it. With a look of disgust, the Goliath wiped it against its fur pants. A surge of rage swelled up within him as he fired more Blood Strikes, determined to end this monster before the situation could get worse.

The Goblin giant shielded its body with its arms and battleaxe, blocking his Blood Strikes. Even when one of his blades of blood managed to make contact with its arm, only a small cut was made, barely drawing out blood.

Vlad needed to use more Blood Points to increase the power of his skill, but he was slowly running low after repeatedly hurling blood blades one after another at the Boss. And since all of the goblins were dead, he couldn’t drink their blood to replenish himself. He needed fresh blood to refill his BP.

Once the Boss realized that Vlad wasn’t firing any more Blood Strikes, it resumed its attack, charging at the vampire with malicious intent. Seeing no other option, Vlad turned around and ran off, trying to keep its attention on him so his friends could recover and get back in the fight. Even then, they needed to do something to take the Boss out quickly.

Their best chance was his [Blood Strike] attacks. If he could use enough BP to strengthen its power and sharpness, he should be able to end the Boss. But not only did he need to find a weak spot to use his skill on to kill it, but he also had to make sure that the monster wasn’t shielding its body, or else, it won’t work.

While running around, Vlad turned his head to look at the Boss chasing him. Narrowing his eyes, he desperately scanned the creature to find a weak spot or vital area on its body that he could take advantage of to kill it. His crimson eyes then trailed over to its neck, noticing how his Gralls from before managed to dig their daggers in it as Blood trailed down its body.

“Well, it’s a better spot than anything,” Vlad muttered.

The chest was too dense for his blades to cut, and its back was no different. All of them were shallow cuts. And he couldn’t go for the legs because he couldn’t waste his BP simply crippling the monster. He needed a fatal blow to finish this fight.

The problem now was getting the opportunity to strike the neck. Climbing on its body while it was moving around wasn’t a good idea. He might end up like the Grall that got crushed to death, so he first needed to immobilize it. As if on cue, looking away from the Boss, the vampire quickly spotted a long chain nearby, around one or two meters long.

Seeing the chain, a plan slowly formed in his head, and once he had all the pieces together, he got to work.

“Gralls! Grab those chains, now!”

The two remaining Gralls stood up after hearing their master’s voice, turning their attention toward the chain near Vlad. And in an instant, the Grall pair rushed toward the metal links, determined to follow their sire’s order.

While the Gralls did that, Vlad called out to Chloe and Arthur.

“Chloe! You and Arthur need to help my Gralls with the chain! We’re bringing this Goliath bastard down!”

Once the two of them realized that Vlad had a plan, they nodded their heads in sync before getting up and scurrying over to the Gralls. All that was left now was to hold the Boss off until they were all ready.

Vlad then stopped in his tracks and spun around to face the Boss. As the monster barreled toward him, a toothy grin was plastered on his face.

“Come at me, you green, ugly bastard!”
