“My Mana Points are replaced with Blood Points now…and it’s dropping on its own.”
Before he became a Vampire, Vlad had an MP instead of this BP. The MP was supposed to show how much mana a person had left and how much they could use for spells. For Vlad, his BP was similar yet different at the same time, likely because of his Vampirism. Instead of relying on Mana, he now had to use blood. And there seemed to be a couple of issues with it as well.
Despite not using any magic or anything like that, his BP was already at seventy. That meant that it depleted itself on its own. And Vlad knew why. With an MP, after a certain amount of time, it will slowly replenish itself. But it was the exact opposite with his BP. His Blood Points most likely acted as both his hunger bar and MP.
So, to replenish his Blood Points…he needed to consume blood. Vlad furrowed his brow, contemplating the concept of his drinking blood. As he did, he was reminded of the time he first tasted it by digging his fangs into a goblin. Just remembering the taste…made his mouth water uncontrollably.
Vlad quickly wiped his mouth, annoyed by his lack of control. “Get it together, Vlad,” He scolded himself. “You’re not a child that can’t control himself around sweets for crying out loud.”
Despite what he told himself, he could tell that his vampiric instincts weren’t something he could ignore. Just by thinking about blood, he was drooling like a dog. That showed him how serious this situation was. If he didn’t get his instincts under control, he was bound to lose control and cause trouble. Hell, what if he goes berserk on his friends? Could he live with himself for committing such an act, even if it was against his will?
Vlad shook his head, getting rid of the haunting thoughts. “Don’t think like that. I can control this. I just need to know how my body works now.”
The best he could do at the moment was try to understand his vampirism. Thankfully, he was pretty knowledgeable about vampires thanks to his hobby of watching horror movies. In fact, his family used to have horror movie nights before his parents died. Since then, his sister and he rarely do these days.
Anyway, since Vlad had information about vampires, he could use that as a base to try and understand his current predicament.
“Okay, so vampires drink blood to survive. Either they’ll go into a deep sleep if they are deprived of it or…they lose control and go into a frenzy. That and it was very hard to control their instincts when it comes to blood.”
Vampires are like animals when it comes to the sight of blood. Their instincts take hold of them to where they are forced to consume the substance to satiate their hunger. It was like an incontrollable impulse.
Vlad experienced this firsthand when he first became a vampire. He was overwhelmed by the hunger that his mind was devoid of all thought except quenching it. It was so bad that he felt like he was losing his sanity. He was just so hungry that he would kill and consume anything if it meant getting rid of it. Vlad always thought that the vampires' need for blood was sometimes exaggerated in movies…but after experiencing it himself, he realized he was sorely mistaken.
“Speaking of my vampirism…I wonder,” Vlad stared at his status window, specifically his species section. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt that there was more information regarding his vampire race if he looked at it.
After staring at the status window for a few moments, he was shown another panel in a split second.
[Species: Vampire – A race that stalks the night and feeds off the blood of their victims. They are all descendants of the [???], whether they were born a vampire, or turned into one. They are a powerful and notorious species and are feared and despised by the rest of the world, to the point that they were banished to an Abandoned Realm.]

“Heh,” Vlad smiled. “Glad I could get more information regarding my new race. Though, I’m curious about why there’s a question mark regarding the maker of the vampires. Is the information classified or something?”
He had the sneaking suspicion that there was more to the Vampire race than what the system was telling him. Especially the [???]. For some reason, it reminded him of the question marks from his Fable trials. How he received [???]’s legacy. Could it be possible that they were connected somehow?
And what was this about vampires being banished into an Abandoned Realm? What was that exactly? There were too many terms that he did not know of. Worst of all, he feared that he’d keep encountering them.
Either way, aside from the background, Vlad wasn’t surprised by the abilities and weaknesses of a vampire. His enhanced body must’ve been from the [Divine Hunter’s Blessing] before it got corrupted. The same went for his disease immunity, other status effects immunity, and immortality from his [Undying One] skill. These were basically the key characteristics of his vampirism aside from the mastery over blood.
There was also his ability to turn people into either Thralls or Vampires. If he was correct, Thralls were kind of like pseudo-vampires, with heightened abilities, but they weren’t entirely vampires. Thralls mainly act as slaves to vampires and pretty much do their bidding. Still, having the ability to turn people into either species was certainly interesting. However, it would be if Vlad was willing to do something like that.
He didn’t like the idea of turning people in Thralls, much less vampires like himself. Still, if push came to shove, he believed that he would do it. As a last resort anyway. Though, it was how he could turn people that he needed to figure out.
Aside from that, He was weak to silver, the sun, and certain magic abilities. Armor should help him at least resist some of these weaknesses, but his main issue was the sun.
Thanks to the apocalypse, there were a lot of clouds blanketing the sky, but he could only rely on them for so long before the sun emerged again. Thankfully, it appeared that, unlike his perception of vampires, the race of bloodsuckers didn’t burn up in the sun. His BP and Health will deplete over time, and he’d be weakened a bit while under its rays. If you think about that, that was a better scenario than burning to a crisp if someone accidentally opened up the blinds and exposed the sun to him.
Plus, he’d more or less be able to keep his vampirism a secret since he wasn’t being set ablaze by the yellow star.
Aside from that, he was also curious about his skills. After picking his [Blood Hunter] class, he gained three skills. So, it was time to see what exactly he could do with them. He took a glance at his skill slot to see what exactly his skills were. Thankfully, he got more information on them as soon as he glanced at one individually.
[Skill [Blood Strike] (F) – User is able to slash blades of blood at their enemies. Each slash costs ten blood points.]
[Skill [Blood Sense] (F) – User can detect nearby living creatures through their blood. Costs 5 Blood Points per second.]
[Skill [Stealth] (F) – User can erase their presence and hide in plain sight from their opponents. Costs 5 Blood Points per second.]
“[Blood Strike], huh? That’s interesting.”
The skill seemed like a ranged attack skill, something he would use at a distance. Or maybe up close, if he had no choice. Either way, out of the three skills, only one of them seemed offensive. The other two were more support-oriented but still useful.
While near the counter, Vlad raised his hand and pointed it at the food shelves in front of him. He then closed his eyes and concentrated, attempting to activate the skill. Suddenly, he felt something surge of energy within him, almost like a heart pulsing to life. The energy then flowed its way from his chest toward his raised hand, as if guided there. His hand started to get warm like it was near a blazing fire.
Then, as if by instinct, he swung his arm and a crimson substance materialized and condensed into a blade-like weapon while being propelled forward. The blade of blood soon hit the shelves, instantly cutting through like they were made of butter. The shelves could no longer handle the weight before toppling over, crashing to the floor, and spilling whatever contents it was carrying.
Vlad stood there in awe, amazed at the power he used to destroy those shelves. He glanced at his hand for a moment, processing that it truly was him that did this. A smile crept up on his face, as he slowly realized how strong he had gotten. He turned his attention back to the severed shelves before walking away, planning his next move.
It was time for him to act like his Class suggested…and start his hunt.
