Chapter 57: The Goblin Boss

Vlad was the first to act, shouting at his Gralls with a commanding roar.

“Attack him, now!”

Following his order, the remaining Gralls, except those protecting Lucy, charged at the Goblin Boss, letting out loud battle cries as they ran toward their enemy. The goliath of a Goblin noticed the Gralls approaching it, to which the creature swung its massive weapon up in the air before slamming it into the ground. A devastating shockwave blew the Gralls away, all of them crashing on the floor with heavy and bone-crushing thuds.

Thanks to his connection, he knew that none of them were dead. But they were pretty injured from that indirect attack just now.

Vlad managed to hold his ground and resist the shockwave. He only slid a couple of inches and stayed on his feet without falling on the floor. The vampire spun to glance at his friends and sighed with relief when he saw them resisting as well.

After slamming its weapon on the floor, the Goblin boss let out a bone-chilling roar, making the entire building tremble in response. Not even Vlad could prevent his body from being riddled with goosebumps. Despite the chills running down his spine, the vampire quickly resolved himself, preparing his next move.

Crimson essence slowly manifested around Vlad’s hand, condensing into serrated blades of blood. The moment they were completely materialized, he swung his hands, launching the blood blades at the Goblin Boss.

The monster was quick on its feet, jumping to the side and narrowly avoiding his Blood Strike attack. Thankfully, his friends were quick on the uptake.

“Haaa!” Chloe shouted while lunging at the Goblin Boss, pulling her gauntleted fist back, and aiming it right at the creature’s face.

As her gauntlet collided with the Boss’s face, it was pushed back from the force, stumbling backward while Chloe landed on her feet before swiftly scurrying away, having no desire to be near the enemy after what she had just done. As the Boss reoriented itself, a vicious and slobbery growl escaped its lips, only for its eyes to widen as Arthur launched a Sword Aura attack.

The Boss lifted its weapon, blocking his aura blade slash with little effort.

“Damn, this thing is tough!” Arthur clicked his tongue.

“Considering it’s a boss, is it really that surprising?” Chloe stated.

“Focus, you two!” Vlad shouted, keeping his eyes focused on the Boss.

He knew now that ordinary attacks weren’t enough to damage this monster. Not only did it dodge Vlad’s Blood blade but also blocked Arthur’s sword aura attack, but this thing tanked Chloe’s punch straight to its face. A normal goblin would’ve lost its head as skull shards and brain matter scattered all over the floor. And yet this Boss barely had a bruise from her attack.

Monster Bosses were certainly on a different level compared to ordinary ones. Which meant it was time for Vlad to get more serious.

Thankfully, he still had plenty of BP since he didn’t waste them when fighting the horde of Goblins. Not only that, but it was just the Boss they had to deal with since the Goblin Goliath took down the rest of its minions after its initial attack. Vlad’s only issue was that he only had one attack skill, which was [Blood Strike], and that was only E-rank right now.

Against this Boss, he might need the skill to be a D or even C-rank to even severely damage this creature. Sadly, he was stuck with the E-rank skill for now. If and when he managed to beat this boss and was able to obtain another skill, he would pick a stronger Offensive skill. Hopefully something that can at least assist him in fighting Bosses better.

Charging up another [Blood Strike], it hurled the Blood blades at the Boss while also moving around and keeping his distance. The Boss noticed his blade attack, easily blocking it with its weapon, only for his second attack to strike its leg. The condensed blade of blood managed to carve into the Goblin Boss’s limb, drawing blood as it seeped down its leg.

The Boss roared in pain and annoyance, setting its sights on Vlad, knowing that he was the one that wounded it. Gripping its axe with both hands, the Goliath charged at the vampire, determined to kill him on sight.

With a daring smile on his face, Vlad quickly picked his spear up from the ground and started to run away from the Boss. Annoyed that it was forced to play a game of chase, the Goblin Boss roared while continuing to try and kill Vlad.

While its attention was glued on the vampire, Arthur and Chloe used the opportunity to take the Boss by surprise, rushing toward its legs and attacking them with malicious intent. Chloe hurled a punch in the back of its knee and Arthur slashed his blade at its calve, barely cutting the skin, but still causing enough damage to injure the Goliath to the point where it stopped in its tracks and yelled in pain.

Just as it turned around to glare at the player pair, another blood strike was launched and carved a small chunk of the Boss’s side. Another roar rang out through the building while the Boss clutched onto its side, blood spilling out the wound and staining the concrete floor with its crimson essence.

“Eyes on me, moron!” Vlad shouted, drawing the Goblin Goliath’s focus immediately.

In an act of rage, the Boss lifted its battle axe and swung it at the vampire, hoping that its aim was good enough to either severely wound or instantly kill him. Vlad noticed the battle axe flying its way before he blurred to the side using [Blood Dash], transforming into blood and avoiding the weapon.

“So, that’s how you want to play it, huh?!” He snarled, peeling back his lips to reveal his fangs while angrily glaring at the Boss.

His eyes trailed over to his minion Gralls who were all finally getting up after flying backward from the Boss’s previous attack. Knowing that there were more allies to help him, he turned back to his opponent and charged at it.

The Boss let out another roar and swung its axe at the vampire, only for Vlad to turn into blood once more and phase through the weapon, immediately shifting back into his normal form. With his spear, Vlad pierced the Goblin Boss’s leg, digging into its calve to cause as much damage as possible.

The Goblin Boss howled in pain before swinging its battleaxe down on Vlad to try and smash him. He swiftly jumped back, pulling his spear out as well so he didn’t lose his only weapon as the axe slammed into the ground, creating another massive crater while chunks of floor debris flew around.

Putting some distance between them, the vampire’s lips curled into a menacing smile and his crimson eyes flashed briefly while glaring at the Boss.

“Now!” He shouted.

Just then, the goblin boss was jumped by the remaining Gralls that got back up. All of them latched onto the Boss’s body, using their daggers or hatchets and stabbing the monster repeatedly. A light roar escaped the Boss’s mouth while it swung around, trying to shake the Gralls off its body, but it wasn’t effective as they continued to dig their blades into its body, fashioning more wounds to the point where blood was seeping all over its limbs and torso.

Some of the Gralls even started to bite down on the Boss, gnawing and tearing small pieces of its skin off, mutilating the monster even further.

The Gralls weren’t the only ones having all the fun since Chloe and Arthur quickly joined the fray, aiming their weapons at the Goblin Boss’s leg. Arthur pierced the calve with his blade and Chloe once again hurled her punch directly behind its knee, easily crippling the monster.

Falling to its knees, the Gralls and players continued wailing at the Boss, stabbing, punching, and biting the hell out of it until the Boss died. Sadly, that wasn’t going to happen yet.

In a fit of rage, the Goblin Boss’s eyes flared bright yellow, pulling itself off the ground, and with a mighty bellow, it shook off the Gralls along with Chloe and Arthur. The players and Thrall goblins fell to the floor, slightly disoriented after getting pushed away by the Boss.

The monster wasn’t finished, however, and with its battleaxe, it started slashing at the downed enemies, killing them before they could get back up and harm the Boss again. Swinging down, the Goblin Boss killed more of Vlad’s Gralls, severing the connection in an instant. The vampire winced as he felt the bond between him and his Gralls cease one by one.

“Dammit…!”

Realizing the dire situation, Vlad rushed in, lunging at the Boss with his spear. Releasing a primal rage-filled roar, he attempted to pierce his spearhead into the Goblin to distract it, only for the boss to immediately turn around and swing its axe in his direction. Just as the blade nearly made contact with Vlad, he quickly moved his spear to block it.

Although he succeeded, that attack sent him flying into a nearby wall, making a large hole while he fell to the floor with a loud thud. With a groan, Vlad coughed up a little blood, sluggishly attempting to pull himself back up.

While doing this, he glanced over at the Monster, only for his eyes to widen with horror when he noticed that it was moving toward Chloe and Arthur. In a panic, the vampire hastily jumped to his feet and then used [Blood Dash] to close the distance as much as he could and save them.

Even then, he still watched as the Boss raised its battleaxe over his friends, preparing to cut them down. What was worse was that even with [Blood Dash], he still wasn’t quick enough. By the time he got there, his friends would be dead.

And then, the Boss swung down its axe…
