[You are now Level 10! You are now able to select a Profession!]
Vlad’s eyes widened. “A profession, huh? I didn’t see such a thing on my status window.” He mused, rubbing his chin while his eyes were trained on the panel. “I guess it only appears after you select a profession”
Vlad was curious if he would earn something when he reached level ten since that would be a nice milestone to get to. However, he didn’t expect to gain a profession. If anything, he thought he would get another skill or something. But this…this was certainly something.
Out of curiosity, Vlad took a look at the professions he was given.
[Please Select your Profession:
* Appraiser
* Inscriber
* Alchemist
* Acrobat
* Doctor
“Hmm, these look pretty nice…” Vlad scanned his list of Professions that he could choose from.
However before he could select his profession, he forgot about Tyler and spun around to see how he was doing. And he made the right call to do so. As soon as the vampire laid eyes on Tyler, he witnessed something absolutely incredible. One of the Orcs was kneeling and the Knight Leader was rushing at it. With both hands gripped around his sword, he swung it at the monster, and at that moment, his blade started to glow. It radiated a bright blue light, engulfing the entire blade in its illumination. A slight hum reverberated from the blade as Tyler raised his weapon and swung down on the Orc, leaving a divine blue arc in its wake as the monster’s head was severed in an instant.
As the head rolled across the ground, Tyler maintained his momentum and spun around on the last Orc that was currently rushing at him, prepared to maliciously smash the knight leader as soon as it got close. However, the moment it did, Tyler’s glowing blade made contact with its torso, easily cutting through its body until it was split in half. The Orc stumbled after getting its body cut before its upper half fell to the ground as its lower half followed suit.
With the two Orcs defeated, Tyler took a deep breath, his glowing sword slowly fading away. Once the light was completely gone, he sheathed his blade while turning toward Vlad, who watched the entire scene with a bewildered expression.
“Nice skill you used there,” Vlad praised, managing to speak up after being left there stunned after what he witnessed.
Tyler rubbed the back of his helmet. “Yeah, it’s a pretty awesome skill. It’s called [Sword Aura]. It was one of the first skills I obtained when I selected the Knight Class. It’s a really powerful skill, but uses up a lot of energy.”
Sounded like Vlad’s [Blood Strike] skill. Now that he thought about it, didn’t he see a similar skill from one of the other special classes he could’ve chosen? Yeah, it was the [Blood Aura] skill for the Blood Knight Class. Could that skill be a variant of the [Sword Aura]?
“By the way,” Vlad spoke up. “I managed to reach level 10, and now I can select a profession. How does this work exactly?”
Since Tyler was over level ten, he already knew about the profession thing. That and he likely already selected one, so Vlad thought about getting some information about the Profession selection before making a decision.
“Oh, so you finally got there, huh?” Tyler smiled, looking a bit proud. “Professions are pretty useful since they help you do certain tasks that your class couldn’t and wouldn’t like making armor, weapons, or clothing. There are even a couple of players that obtained a [Appraiser] Profession, which is useful for getting more information out of certain objects and the like.”
“I see…” Vlad mused, contemplating over Tyler’s explanation.
So, Professions are like Subclasses that allow you to do things that your class wouldn’t let you. Say you’re an assassin class but you have an alchemist profession, you can make potions while also assassinating people with daggers. In fact, if you picked the right profession, you could likely strengthen your class as well. As an assassin, you mostly sneak around and kill people stealthily. However, if you possess the Alchemist profession, you can likely make poison to assist with your assassinations like poison daggers or poison gas.
This meant that Vlad couldn’t just select some Profession. He had to be smart about this. He needed to pick the right Profession to get stronger. But which one should he choose? He only had five to pick from, and only one or two of them actually interested him.
“Hey, Tyler. What Profession did you pick?”
Since Tyler already had a Profession, asking what he got and how he chose the skill would help Vlad choose the profession he needed.
“Me? I picked the [Executioner] Profession. It enhances my combat ability and even gives me a certain kill ability.”
Vlad paused, completely puzzled by what he had just heard. That ability sounded amazing! Why didn’t he get a profession like that?! The only professions he had that interested him were Alchemist and Inscriber. Even with them, he still wanted the Executioner one.
Did certain professions only go to certain players or something? Maybe it had something to do with his class. Or Maybe even his actions? Then again why did he have a Doctor and Acrobat profession? What part of his class or actions told the system that these kinds of Sub-Classes were right up his alley? Was the system messing with him or something? Was this some kind of sick joke that the System was playing here?
“Huh…?” As Vlad irritably stared at his Profession panel, something interesting happened.

[Due to possessing ???’s Legacy, Player has access to [Legacy Profession].]
“Legacy Profession?” Vlad raised an eyebrow as a smile formed on his face. “Now that sounds interesting.”
Considering how he managed to obtain a Legacy Class pack from before, he should’ve known that the same would apply to Professions. However, what his new Legacy Professions were was the real question.
[Please select a Profession:
* Appraiser
* Inscriber
* Alchemist
* Acrobat
* Doctor
* Blood Ritualist (Legacy Profession)
Vlad tilted his head in confusion. Instead of obtaining a full set of Legacy Professions like he thought, there was only one.
“A Blood Ritualist? What the hell kind of profession is that?”
“What’s up?” Tyler asked.
“Uh, I got a new profession,” Vlad explained. “Though, I don’t know what it exactly is…”
Like before, Vlad scanned the profession for a second, waiting for more information to appear. Then it happened.
[Blood Ritualist (Profession):
An ancient and powerful profession that allows the player to perform certain abilities through the power of blood. Blood Ritualists can cast wards, set up traps, and even curse individuals by making Blood Sigils and circles. Stat Bonuses are +10 Magic, +10 Soul]
After reading the description of the profession, Vlad felt more inclined to choose it. The fact that he could cast wards or curse individuals was enough to get him interested in what else this profession was capable of. Not only that, but his stats have also increased. And by a lot at that.
Plus, it was the only Legacy Profession that related to his race and class. Compared to his other Professions, Blood Ritualist seemed like the only one he could actually pick.
“I choose The Blood Ritualist Profession,” Vlad declared.
[You have chosen the Blood Ritualist Profession!]
[You have obtained Profession Skill [Blood Ward]!]
[You have obtained Profession Skill [Healing Sacrifice]!]
[You have obtained Profession Skill [Siphon Circle]!]
Vlad smiled. “Well, would you look at that?”
Not only did he gain a Profession, but he also got more skills for him to use as well, huh? Not only that, but these professional skills looked very interesting. He’d definitely need to experiment with them when he got the chance.
“Since I have the Blood Ritualist Profession, it should show up in my status window now, right?”
Curious, Vlad instantly pulled up his status window.

“Oh?” Vlad scanned his status info, curious as to the changes. “So, not only do I get a Profession section, but my Profession skills are in their own little section as well, huh? That certainly makes things easier to distinguish.”
Not only that, but his Profession skills don’t have any Rankings either. Did that mean that he couldn’t make them stronger? While looking at his status, Vlad’s eyes then trailed over to his SP, noticing that he had ten Stats points that needed to be distributed. And he had just the stat to use them on.
[10 SP has been distributed to Magic!]
Although Vlad wanted to keep his stats balanced since they were all incredibly important, he’s been relying on his Blood abilities quite a bit. Since that was the case, putting a bit more points into this attribute would benefit him a lot in the long run. Especially since he just got the Blood Ritualist Profession. Something told him that he was going to need more magic to properly use his abilities.
“So, you chose that Blood Ritualist Profession?” Tyler asked, curious about Vlad’s choice.
Vlad nodded. “Yeah. It felt like the best Profession for me. At least better than Doctor or Acrobat.”
The Knight Leader suddenly laughed. “Seriously? You actually have those Professions? No wonder you chose Blood Ritualist. Honestly, I don’t understand how you could’ve gotten those two considering your fighting style and class.”
“Beats me,” He shrugged his shoulders. “My sister’s actually a doctor, so maybe that’s why? Then again, I don’t know why I still got the Acrobat one. That one's definitely a mystery.”
All Vlad could do regarding the Acrobat Profession is just think of it as a throwaway Profession that the system gave him. Then again, if they were going to give him any Profession, why not the Executioner one? If that was one of his options, Vlad would’ve had a more difficult time choosing one.
“Alright, then, let’s keep moving,” Tyler declared, walking away from the dead Orc corpses. “We can’t stand around here all day while Chloe and the others are possibly in danger.”
“Right,” Vlad nodded, acknowledging his statement.
While walking with Tyler, Vlad no longer felt that the Knight Leader was a nuisance to him. If anything, he was very capable of handling himself, and the vampire was slightly glad that he was on his side. Though, in the back of his mind, a part of him wondered what would happen if they became enemies.
Although Vlad was confident in his skills and abilities, when he looked at Tyler, he felt intimidated. More than anything, he feared the level of skill this Knight Leader possessed, and he knew that he had more potential than he was currently displaying. If he was allowed to progress…he would become an extremely dangerous opponent.
At the thought of such a scenario, Vlad felt a small urge to kill Tyler. It wasn’t an overwhelming force that was compelling him to obey like his ravenous and insatiable hunger for blood, but as he continued to think about how dangerous Tyler would become in the future, his conscience felt more inclined to heed the will of his urge.
Even now, Vlad gripped his spear tightly, as if preparing to thrust the weapon through Tyler’s chest at a moment’s notice. The Knight Leader might not be able to react in time, so his chances of killing him without much trouble were even higher. However, it was the other part of Vlad that forced him to stop this kind of thinking.
At the moment, Tyler was an ally. Not an enemy. Not only that, but Chloe and the others trusted Tyler and were currently working with him. If Vlad were to kill him, that in itself would result in a lot of problems manifesting in the future. Without a leader, the entire base at the mall would fall apart, and by the time the blood moon occurred, they were as good as done for. And Vlad currently needed that base to take residence in and make preparations for the future after surviving the Blood Moon event.
Critically weighing his options, Vlad loosened his grip on his spear as his strong urge to kill Tyler dissipated. Getting rid of Tyler didn’t serve him any benefits aside from eliminating a possible threat. More than anything, the cons of killing Tyler outweighed the pros by a ton. It wasn’t even a question at this point whether it was worth it; because it definitely wasn’t.
Keeping this in mind, Vlad continued to walk alongside Tyler, the other party oblivious to Vlad’s murderous intentions from before. Their next stop? The Warehouse.
