Intermission Chapter 5

Intermission Chapter 5

The white-hooded man scared everyone, no matter where he went.

He was an inquisitor. A sinner who repented and now served god.

All the high elves around couldn’t but feel their blood freezing once they saw his blue eyes facing their own.

- What is the matter? Why have I been summoned?

The Principatus went forward timidly, holding his hands in front of his chest and kneeling in front of the Inquisitor.

Inquisitors lived at the Ancestral Tree, but could be summoned if a Principatus called them.

- Your Excellency Inquisitor. Our village faces trouble with a sneaky demon.

- What kind of devilspawn is it? Does it have a dark seed?

Of course it has one!

The village would not dare summon an inquisitor otherwise!

White-seed demons were rare, but not a menace. They could be dealt with by regular people. By normal people.

Besides, they tended to even be useful.

As all demons, they were wicked. But their seeds were proof of gods’ mercifulness.

Besides, how many of them had good knowledge of spells and other things they could trade with?

Their magic was god-magic, not evil magic.

White-seed devilspawn was more of a blessing to a village than a menace.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

That said, no one would say it - no one would dare be this arrogant to an inquisitor.

- Yes, your excellency.

- As you know, I am a second rank inquisitor. What are the devilspawns’ crimes?

- It has broken into our peoples’ houses and stole many things. However, it did leave gifts behind.

- That seems like a first ranks’ job. No. Since it left gifts behind, it should even be within the range of being tolerable. Why did you call me?

The inquisitors’ eyes became fierce. His voice had grown deeper. The Principatuss’ legs trembled a little.

- A little girl from our village is missing, your excellency. It just disappeared, and we think… we think the demon got her.

The inquisitors’ fierce look turned to the woods, as if looking for something. The Principatus sighed a sigh of relief.

- Very well. Lets’ investigate this matter further.

Rashia laid unconscious in the villages’ square. The elves around looked at his naked body, their faces filled with disgust and contempt.

In the end, it was a little Dark Elf. A prankster demon.

- We shall now begin the trial.

The inquisitor took his pouch, and slowly started to take out the items inside.

A wood ring with carvings. A piece of wood from someones’ floor. Some girls’ panties.

And then…

- A seed.

The inquisitor held the seed on his hands, his eyes locked in Rashia, cold-burning hatred spread on his face.

- Take it and give it a proper burial.

The Principatus took the seed, and then carried it to the parents of the little girl. Crying compulsively, they took the seed of their missing daughter.

- Wake up, damn thing!

The inquisitor kicked Rashia in the stomach, and he coughed a mouthful of blood. That powerful quick had injured him badly.

- You have been decided guilty of the crime of murdering a young child blessed by god in its innocence and purity of soul. The punishment is death by wormfire.

Rashias’ eyes grew bigger, and he tried to say something, to defend himself.

However, before he could do anything, a hand-sized worm of cold, only a little-above body temperature fire came out of the inquisitors’ hands and flew into his mouth.

Any dark-skinned elf with a dark seed would receive capital punishment upon being taken prisoner by an inquisitor.

However, death by wormfire was one of the worst punishments one could receive.

Rashias’ guts began to be slowly roasted from the inside out, as the fireworm consumed him, nibbling and burning him, little by little with no waste of his blood.

The inquisitor watched as the execution proceeded, and then, after many hours of suffering, as it finally ended.
