Chapter 41: After three days

Chapter 41: After three days

“It’s been three days since my last meeting with that hero’s descendant, and I sure hope that I won’t encounter him again, but I’m pretty sure that’s impossible.”

Inside the library, Beelzebub contemplated with a pencil in his hand, writing down on a piece of paper that he ripped off from somewhere.

“Now I shouldn’t risk myself going inside the academy now that Alissa is a student.”

Even though the semester had already started three days ago, Vilet, with her status, managed to let Alissa enroll in it. Not only that, but Vilet went all the way to create an exclusive class for Alissa.

And who would have guessed that the teacher would be Vilet? Yes, this is great news… but I felt kind of irritated.

Now that thing aside, I found out that I did get accepted as the school staff, or, to be precise, the Vilet servant, but in order to do that I must prove that I am worthy enough to serve Mortem’s first child.

This is bullshit; not only did I become a servant once again, but I must return to the Mortem’s household once again. No, that was Issac, not me.

“Fuck, this is getting more out of hand.”

I am getting more and more immersed in Issac’s memory, but that was to be expected. The memories from my past life are grand and vast, but because of that, I must delete most of them to not overload.

So I’m becoming more and more like Issac; I must find a way to have an abundant demonic core so that my body can cope with the memory and return back to my origin.

“Such a headache. I remember the time when the old Beelzebub could create a genocide without batting an eye.”

There are multiple options for this, but to gain it quickly, I must enter the Hollow, where, in Shin's words, a powerful demonic creature is located at the end of the ant’s nest.

To make it happen, I must gain a youth elixir so that I can train again and become a teacher assistant to participate in the Hollow.

So let’s keep “hitting” the book. I believed in my superior knowledge even if there was a deletion, but these mortals wouldn’t be able to comprehend those, so I must see how these mortals thought to beat their own game.

“Oh, this is as good as my hand ritual, so this is what Vilet had been doing before.”

Huh, to think that these mortals are this good in dark mana, as good as me perhaps, well, that’s because I was not that fond of dark mana before anyway; yes, it must be.

“And this is just straight-up lazy. Sure, you can perform a power spell much quicker, but it will cost resources and, and—”

These humans are truly something else.

*****

“YOU DUMB SHIT”

The shout was heard even from the hallway, and one can probably hear it from outside the academy. Shouting like his life is on the line is an old man with a pointy hat and a wizard robe.

What is even more special is a small crab with a blue carapace and black pincer. The crab just stood at the shoulder of the wizard while staring at the student intensely with its tiny dark eyes.

“…That old man scared me.”

“woof”

This is Alissa's first day, and to think that the first teacher she met is this damn old guy. Gyron is an A-rank wizard from the mage tower and also one of the few specialists in this world.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Besides abilities, humans also have a few things in their arsenal, and one of those is the usage of your affinity. There are six basic affinities: Fire, Earth, Water, Plant, Air, and Lightning. From those born of even more complex nature, like mud or something.

Those who reach a new level of their affinity will be called specialists; they are people who can control their affinity to the point where it is equal to a Peak or even a Boundless rank ability.

“WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? CONCENTRATE!”

“…bastard”

No, no, this is wrong. Alissa, you must shed your old self and be good; now that your dreams have come true, you must work hard so that all the things Sis Vilet and Sir Beelzebub have done don’t come to waste.

A sphere of water is hovering right above Alissa; what we are doing right now is trying to keep the clay in sphere form. The mana must be split evenly; if not, then the entire water would pop and—

“EEK, IT’S COLD”

“YOU STUPID COW, NOW STAY THERE AND TAKE THIS.”

A water sphere magically came out of Gyron's wrist and then floated toward the top of the failed student's head. Looking at the girl shivering in the cold makes me not want to find out how cold the water is.

What is worse is the old man screaming at the top of his lungs, which makes it much harder for me to concentrate, and the popping sound doesn’t help either. But there is something I can’t deny, this method has increased my mana control slightly, though not as effectively as Beelzebub, but now he is busy most of the time; this will do.

Maybe the old guy just keeps on screaming to boost our mentality; it isn’t so bad after all. Yes, this is Lapis Academy after all; only the best in their field are here so prodigies like me can unlock the potential.

Oh shi-

POP

About an hour later

After the class ends, I tiredly walk out of the class with a wet head. Despite training with that demon for an entire month, the old man's shout is just too annoying, causing her to fail one.

Snapping her finger, the water seemingly vaporized in an instant. A clean spell sure is convenient, but her head is still cold.

“Now the next class is…”

“Eww, did you smell that?”

“…”

I could hear a soft female voice whispering behind my back, the words just barely audible in the quiet hallways. Don’t do it, Alissa; you are a model student now.

But out of nowhere, something hit the back of my head. It wasn’t hurt, but it was enough to break my patience. I take a look to the side to see a rock. And then I diverted my eyes toward the culprit. A red-haired woman who is much taller than me.

I see; she is the one who failed most of the time. Is she jealous?

“A witch dares to look at me; that’s new.”

The woman student then stepped toward me, right in front of me, before raising her hand.

“Hey, stop looking at me, W—“

To think that this dark mage rat dares to act high and mighty to her, a distant relative of the count family. I will show where her pitiful place is.

But why did I stop? Why?

A sense of fear crept upon her shoulder as a red glow appeared beneath the little girl. WHAT IS

Before she knew it, a sudden, powerful gust of wind swept her off her feet away from the girl, and then she was launched back with high velocity and toward the balcony.

“Kyahhhh”

With the scream from the distance, Alissa just stood there as clueless as ever. Who just did that?

“Are you okay?”

Looking behind her is a girl much taller than the redhead from before, with golden eyes and silky blonde hair tied into a high ponytail, flowing gracefully down her back.

Wow, she’s beautiful.

“Um, are you okay?”

“Y-yes, yes, and you are?”

“Oh, this is new…Well hello, I’m Bon Zara; nice to meet you.

*****

“Hmm, very weird.”

Kang Silver, who is definitely not stalking someone, follows the two people, Vanella and Thane, on tiptoes.

This is weird; Vanella has never been a teacher assistant before. Sure, she did enter the academy this time around, but with

“Oh Thane, long time no see. How are you doing?”

“…We work in the same school, Zeruem.”

“And for some reason, I have never seen you for the past month.”

“Ugh.”

Vanella thought to herself, The always cheerful and polite Thane is now outrageously grunting at this woman. Not just any woman but a saint from the Church of The Snakes.

A woman with her eyes closed, dressed in a pristine white robe of a priest and a white, semi-transparent silk veil cascading over her raven-black hair. Her smile is gentle and warm, like how a mother smiles at her child.

“Oh, I know you. You are Vanella, right?”

“Ah, yes, Saint Zeruem. It’s a—

“Vanella Zara and a member of the Demon Executioner Corp. It’s a pleasure to meet the cleaner of this world.”

“Pardon?”

“Oh, don’t be shy; thanks to you, those scum—“

“Kyahhhhhh”

“…”

“…”

“…Sorry, but I have to go now.”

With a quick apology, Zeruem rushed toward the scream with worry on her face.

“What a headache.”

“I don’t understand; why would you show such a reaction to her?”

“Well, I guess I shouldn’t say this, but…”

Seeing Thane hesitated for a bit before deciding to spill the beans.

“You know, despite that smile and worry, she is a monstrosity created from thousands of lives that she massacred in the name of hope. I don’t know what grand cause she was hoping to reach, but I will never, ever accept someone like her."
