Chapter 27: Distant Future

Chapter 26: Distant Future

These days, a certain rumor has been spreading around Deisnor—a rumor about a new era coming.

Why? It’s because of the sudden growth of the S-rank and powerful existence that have made an appearance like Hongho Padock the Sword King or Stellar Zara the Cosmo.

Heck, even in recent years, a supreme has appeared on earth after the trip to the Outside. Delich, the Patriarch of The Mortem family, has reached the rank of supreme, making him one of the strongest people in this world.

But it doesn’t end here. This year, multiple prodigies have arrived at Lapis Academy, promising a bright future for the school. They are called the Five Stars of Humanity.

Amelia SilverLight, the sun from the prestige family SilverLight, not only has mana heart but also excellent mana control, which may make one think that she is a B-rank at D-rank.

Wurl Mamon, the next patriarch of the Mamon family, is known not for his prowess or ability but for his cunning and mischievous nature. No one knows how, but many victims have fallen into his hands to become his servant.

Bon Zara, the fiancée of…let’s not talk about it, is the strongest D-rank swordsman out there; with her lethal strike and her amazing agility, she managed to kill a dangerous criminal at C-rank.

Sheran, the prince of the only human kingdom, Deisnor, is a blessed child by the God of Immortality, Tepes, and possesses a Boundless ability that makes him unstoppable.

With these shining potentials, the future is as bright as ever. Well, if there isn’t any problem that might arise, but such things can’t happen, not when they are in Lapis Academy, right?

Opening up his eyelids weakly, the man tries to stand up but can't as every single one of his muscles has been torn apart from exertion, giving him the only choice to sit down there.

Looking at the ruined world that used to be Earth, Kang SilverLight, who is now much older than before, with long white hair and tattered black armor, sits down on the bloody soil, blood from all of the shining stars of humanity, of the protector of Earth. With a tired and depressed expression, he looks at the monster before him.

We have failed, not by the cult or internal force but by a completely different force.

30 years ago, they appeared, the Four Demons of Destruction.

An army that shakes the world with every march is with the leader a humanoid lizard-like creature with a pointed hat and bandage covering most of it, standing on top of a giant three-head wolf and a staff made out of flesh on its right hand, commanding the monster behind. The creature's ability is something that surpasses even the necromancy known to mankind; it can not only revive a corpse but also give it the ability and make an immortal body. Lead such an army of abominations with disfigured bodies and twisted abilities. These beings are known by another name, scavengers. They search inside ruins in order to find living beings and devour them. They are the last to appear, but because of them, there is no hope of finding or protecting survivors.

From the depths of the ocean and crater is a pool of violet pythons with yellow eyes that interwind with each other, forming a giant ball. From the middle of the snake, a black eye with the golden rectangle pupil. This creature is the most insidious one of the four, as nobody knows what it can do. For the moment it arrived, darkness engulfed everything, and after it left, nothing remained. It is also the one responsible for ruining the Earth itself, turning land to ashes, polluting the seas, and burning up the forests. A force of nature that corrupts land and kills anything beneath the ground, it is responsible for eradicating life on this planet.

From the sky are millions of figures with bandages all over their bodies and twelve gray wings popping out of their backs. The creature seemed to be a human, but no one knew, for it was wearing a mask that left its mouth open, smiling, showing all of its teeth; its smile kept twitching. From the socket of the mask is... nothing; there is nothing, not darkness, no nothing, so we suspect that even the smile is from the mask. This one is the most mysterious, as space is distorted around it, making space-related abilities useless. It kills anything in the sky to prevent us from leaving Earth. Its power is by far the most deadly; no one can sense its energy or even its existence, and it can do the same to you. Not only that, it can even control time and rewind back to normal upon death. The entire government tries all of its arsenals just to defeat it, and now nothing is left, not even their presence. I can barely keep my memory about them intact; this one makes sure there is no way to escape Earth; even teleportation is impossible.

And finally, the most aggressive one and the one that single-handedly killed 8 of the supremes, vaporized five great families, and destroyed every civilization—not even the others dared to cross paths with it—is the reason why we can't focus on other calamities.

It’s a giant, muscular humanoid creature with eight elongated horns that formed like a crown, a scale body with rotten flesh, showing its bone, but those rotten parts reveal the immense mana it has.

I have never seen such power before. If there is a Mana god, then this must be it. The creature only has one ability, and that is telekinesis, but the mana that it has is equivalent to the ocean or even much more. Its power is so ridiculous that with one blast from its attack, it destroys part of the moon, sending fragments to Earth, and causing meteor rain for months. And yet, it never tries to destroy this planet because of its desire. The desire to kill us all with its hand. With such mana, sensing us is nothing but a trivial task, but it only appears when we are in the group.

With its prideful and sadistic desire to torment, we try to use this weakness but fail miserably, so miserably in fact that the only reason we are alive is for us to hope, entertain it even further.

Now, kneeling in front of it. I look up not with rage but now with hopelessness and the creature towering above me. It shows no sign of joy anymore but boredom. I can feel it—my fate and this world too. What has gone wrong? Is it the cultist attacks, or is it just how the world works?

Standing up once again, I raised my last arm while holding a sword, trying to slash it.

BAAANG

A boom exploded, and what is left are my falling limbs and head. Looking up at the black ashes covering the entire area, I closed my eyes one last time, hoping to be embraced by peace and darkness.

Only for a whisper disturbing my mind and reaching my ear

“Child, do you want to fix all of this to have one more chance to make things right?”

Is this a hallucination, or is this what happens when a person dies? Well, there is no reason to not answer, is it? For I have regrets too.

“Yes”

Nothing answers back, so this is the end of my con-

“Very well, you shall be sent back to his return.”

“?”

“Let the great law of the universe, caused and effect, save you from this hell.”

“EN MUJ NERQ”

The world begins to shake, gray silver light blooming from the darkness and dispersing it. As I couldn’t comprehend what was going on, the mysterious voice rang out one last time.

“Well goodbye”

“May the Creator bless you.”

A moment later, Kang opened his eyes, but this time in a dark room while lying on a comfortable bed.

At the same time, space vibrates around a small cabin, and green light can be seen through the window glass, alerting a group of people nearby and multiple eyes gazing from faraway
