What the hell?!

-I chewed on the food in my mouth. It was currently lunch break and Mark was somewhere. I was just peacefully eating my lunch inside my cubicle.

That was until Mark came.

"Hey, Jolt." Mark greeted as he came inside.

"Sup." I managed to say whilst eating. I then swallowed the food in my mouth. "What're you doing here?"

"Nothing." Mark said as he sat down on his swivel chair. He was also eating lunch.

We then continued to eat lunch peacefully. Only the chewing of our food was heard.

It was silent until Mark spoke up.

"Oh yeah, that isekai story almost reached a thousand views..." He said before putting some food in his mouth.

"Really??" I asked, uncertain.

"Yeah." Mark replied.

"The 0.5 one?" I asked again. Certainly, he must be joking.

"Yeah." Mark answered again. So, I just decided to be blunt.

"Are you joking with me?" I asked as I stopped eating.

"I'm not joking..." Mark mumbled as he continued to eat

"..." I was lost in thought before shouting. "What the hell?!"

"What? You didn't see?" Mark stopped eating.

"No."

"Well, it's gotten views you know."

"I didn't expect that shit to manage that." I replied.

"Well, it's shit so..."

"Yup. That's how it still has that 0.5 ratings."

"I don't know, the recent chapters were a little better."

"Oh, thanks." I was thankful for Mark's comment.

"But your early drafts for other stories were fucking shitty." Mark immediately destroyed my confidence. "The pacing was too fast. Shallow characters. No character development. Plot holes everywhere. Generic tropes. Hell, no wonder why Big Boss rejected your early ideas. You needed better narrating skills."

"..." I felt heartbroken as he said all of those statements. "O...k..."

"Anyways, how's the next chapter?" Mark asked.

"I'm going to do it tomorrow." I said. "I don't know if I'm going to finish it tomorrow though."

"Oh wait, want to get the paid vacation after you reach the mid-season point?"

"Yup." I said, popping the 'p' "Thank goodness it's only one season..."

"Sure am thankful for that. I can't wait to see what other shit you have in your little drawer."

I nodded to that. It was then silent as we finished our lunches. Mark decided to break the silence again.

"Have you read Benny's new book?" He asked me. "It's called 'Super Star.'"

"Yup. It's a good story. He used the right words in describing things. And he picked the right universe to narrate. The ending was quite bittersweet. Fuji may have lived but he is confined to the hospital bed forever." I noted the things I read in the book. "I cried."

"Agreed, it was a good BL novel." Mark commented. "It surely deserved to become a bestseller."

I nodded to that before asking.

"Have you read Tim's books?" I started another conversation.

"The harem one?" Mark asked curiously.

"Yes." I answered.

"Which one?" Mark asked bluntly.

"The reverse isekai one." I said.

"Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?" Mark deadpanned

"Oh shit...I forgot there were 67 of them..." I quickly realized my mistake. Then, from out of nowhere, a co-worker of ours appeared by the entrance of the cubicle. It was Jeff. He was panting.

"Oh hey, Jeff." Mark greeted.

"Hey Jolt, I just heard that there was going to be a visual novel and a T.V. show adaptation of 'Super Star.'" Jeff informed us.

"Oh shit, really?!" I asked, shocked and excited.

"Yes! The Visual Novel department already started the operation!" Jeff stated.

"Holy fucking shit. I can't wait to read that." I said. "I hope they don't fuck it up."

Jeff and Mark nodded. Jeff seemingly did not notice Mark before so he greeted him.

"Oh, hey Mark." Jeff said. Mark mumbled something.

"When's the release date?" I asked Jeff.

"Somewhere between August and December." Jeff said. "The T.V. show adaptation is still next year or more.

"Great! Now I know what I'm doing this winter." I said.

"Well, that's all." Jeff then proceeded to leave. I looked at the time then looked at Mark.

"Hey Mark, lunch break's over."

"See you later then." Mark stood up and left, leaving me in my cubicle. I sighed.

"Nearly one thousand views...really?"-
