Give me a second…or a minute…or an hour…..or a whole day

“An adventurer?” George asked. The two then started to walk.

“Oh, you don’t know? It’s basically simple, you go inside a guild or something, register, then you can go on quests to gain money.” Grim explained it to George. George hummed in response.

As they took a walk, George looked everywhere, delighted by the sight of fantasy. He looked left where there was a fruit vendor. He looked to the right to see a blacksmith. All in all, it was an amazing sightseeing walk for him. He was amazed by the sights. Like a child seeing candy. Like a suicidal guy seeing a way to die. Like a terrorist seeing a bomb, their eyes widened with excitement.

As they walked through the cemented road, they reached the place where a guild was supposed to be. George looked at the place, it was a nice wooden building with decorations like flowers and all that.

“Huh…” Even though he didn’t say it with amazement, he was amazed. Grim sighed and went inside, George followed after.

The inside of the building rather…felt like home to George, seeing that it was like an office made him remember the times he worked in his own office. He then remembered all the times he was overworked. He cringed.

The two then walked to a nearby receptionist where a blond woman was working. The receptionist was wearing plain medieval clothes. She had B…no C-cup boobs and a delightful smile.

“Hello! How can I help you?” The receptionist said with a smile.

“Uhh hello…” George saw that there was something near her breasts, he took a closer look and saw that it was a name pin which said ‘Alice’. “Alice”

“Can we register for adventuring?” Grim piped in, clinging onto the wooden desk that was almost taller than him.

“Oh yes of course just sign this!” She bent her body and took out a stack of paper from underneath the desk. The stack of paper was rather…large to be exact.

“Uhm. Where do we sign?” George asked. Alice then put a paper on top of the stack.

“Here sir!” She replied happily.

“What is all of that though?” George asked about the stack of paper.

“This? This is the terms and conditions.”

“Oh…well let me read it first…” He looked at the stack. “Give me a second…or a minute…or an hour…or the whole day…”

He took a look at one paper. “Damn is this double-sided?!”

“Yes sir! And you can keep the stack of paper but leave the slip you need to sign here, don’t worry I’ll hold on to it.” She replied happily again.

“O…k…” George then took the whole stack of paper. Grim who was dumbfounded at the stack of paper was then dragged out by George.

“We should find a place to sleep” George spoke up after a few minutes of walking down the streets.

“Yeah, we do” Grim muttered. Silence then reigned upon the two for a couple of minutes until George said something.

“…I have no idea where we’re going…” George said, lost.

“Stop dragging me then I’ll find us an inn.” Grim replied. George complied and before Grim knew it, he fell to the ground. He then promptly stood up and wiped the dirt off his clothes and walked. George followed him.

After a while of walking and some people trying to sell them stuff, they found an inn on the outer part of the city.

“So, what’s this place?” George, beside Grim, asked. The building itself…looked broken. Some planks were gone and the sign needed a fix.

“An inn” Grim said before going inside the building. George followed. The inside wasn’t any better. There were two old guys playing cards on a table that was nearly broken. One guy who had armor, on the ground, with a mug in hand, unconscious. Then there was the receptionist…or the boss of the place. It was a woman, that looked like the receptionist from the guild. She was reading something before Grim announced himself.

“How much is a room?” Grim asked. The receptionist jumped a little before replying happily.

“It’s 2 silver coins a night!” The receptionist happily replied.

“…do I know you from somewhere?” George asked, tilting his head.

“I have no recollection of you old man!” She replied happily again. George felt a pang in his heart, his legs shook furiously. He was distraught. Grim merely chuckled.

“Well here.” Grim gave her two silver coins. She took it and stood up.

“Follow me please.” She led Grim and the now dazed and sad George upstairs where their supposed room is.

As they entered the room, it wasn’t exactly a pleasant sight. There were cockroaches here and there, a somewhat intact bed. Broken floors and walls. Not to mention the dripping water above. Well, this is what 2 silver coins can get you…

The receptionist then left them, leaving the two in the room alone. Grim just went into the bed while George sat on the floor and began to read the stack of paper.

“Bruh, you really reading it?” Grim said, noticing him reading.

“Yup.” George said, not moving his attention away from the papers.

“Are you really serious?”

“Funny, that’s what my old co-workers said.”

“And how are they?”

“Oh, I don’t know, they were fired.”

“Huh” Grim was left dumbfounded.

The two then ignored each other for a long time. By the time it was nighttime, George finally finished reading. And to be honest, he probably isn’t looking too good.

As he tried to stand up, he felt a pain in his back. He then proceeded to stretch, popping some joints in the process. When he finished, he then proceeded to look at Grim, who was sound asleep in the bed. There was also a cockroach on his face. He sighed and proceeded to look out the window.

The night was peaceful. He heard distant chatters and the flowing breeze. He noticed that the only light they had was a candle that was near him and one on a desk.

‘Wait a minute…I think I know what to do now’ George thought, smiling to himself.

“Hey, Mileena!” He called upon the female demon which appeared to his left. But there was something different with her outfit. Instead of the old-looking rag, it was instead replaced with a purple oversized hoodie and some short shorts. Mileena was embarrassed somehow.

“What’s wrong?” George asked.

“I-i-I was just looking at clothes a-a-and t-this looked c-c-comfortable…” She replied, whisperingly. “I’m sorry for not asking for your permission first though!”

“Well, it’s okay…you don’t really need my permission to wear the things you like.” George laughed it off.

“O-okay…um what did you call me here for?” Mileena asked.

“Ah, I wanted you to give me a lap pillow.”

“A what?” Mileena asked.

“You know…I lay my head on your lap, that’s what a lap pillow is…”

“Oh, I could do it…” Mileena replied, shyly. She then sat on the floor. George then proceeded to lie down on her lap. Once he did, he experienced heaven.

“Ah, this is good” He mumbled in comfortableness. He closed his eyes for a second before realizing something. “Hey Mileena, are you okay with this?”

“Uhm, yes! We were trained for endurance…although this wasn’t the endurance we were trained for.” Mileena mumbled.

“Oh…ok…” George then slowly fell asleep.
