Chapter 9: Dinner & Training

The room was silent, Bai Kong's gaze swept past everyone until coming to a stop on Bai Jing.

"Jing'er do you really want to join the True Origin Sect?" Bai Kong asked, waiting for an answer.

Bai Jing's eyes lit up and the corner of her lip raised in pleasant surprise.

"Yes Father!" Bai Jing said while nodding her head.

"..."

Bai Kong just paused and stared at Bai Jing.

"Then it's decided. After a year I will have Old Fu bring you to the sect." Bai Kong finally replied.

"Yes!" Bai Jing murmured with tightly clenched fists, her thoughts running wild.

There seemed to be no surprise on Pai An nor Bai Ting's face, as if they already knew.

"Sister what dose that mean? Are you leaving? Will you still be able to play with me?" Bai Chao asked looking confused and sad.

Bai Chao was leaning over the edge of his seat arms stretched out, shaking his sister's leg.

Bai Jing gently flicked Bai Chao's head with her finger. His face scrunched up and then proceeded to retract his hands and rub his forehead.

"Owww!"

"Don't worry it's still a year away. I will play with you more in the mean time. Plus I'm sure I could come back and visit every now and then." Bai Jing looked at her brother in assurance.

Bai Chao gently nodded but Bai Kong interrupted with some surprising words.

"Little Chao I'm afraid your Sister is wrong."

"Huh?"

Bai Kong waited to speak until Bai Jing was looking back at him.

"Bai Jing, tomorrow morning at sunrise, I will be taking you out to train for the next year! Meet me at the entrance of the villa then!" Bai Kong spoke commandingly.

"But-" Bai Jing was startled.

"Would you rather two years?" Bai Kong was giving no room for argument.

Bai Jing's mouth was slightly ajar as her thoughts ran.

She turned to look at her Mother and Aunty with a grimace. However the two wives just smiled slightly and shook their head.

Getting the hint, Bai Jing let out a sigh and simply replied, "Yes Father..."

Bai Kong just nodded hearing this and proceeded to eat the prepared food. A subtle smile appearing on his face as he chewed.

Everyone but Bai Jing proceeded to dig in as well.

After a minute of sitting still, Bai Jing harrumphed before picking up her chopsticks and digging in voraciously.

.......

The morning of the next day, Bai Jing let out a large breath of air; then aggressively slid open the door of her room.

Slowly walking towards the villa entrance, she spotted Bai Kong standing there along with everyone except Uncle Fang.

Bai Chao was the first to run towards Bai Jing and give her a hug.

"Sister I'll miss you! You have to play with me once you get back. Okay?" Bai Chao spoke while embracing Bai Jing's hips.

"Sure."

Bai Jing patted his head twice then yanked him off the ground by his clothes. She then tucked him under her arm, his head and feet dangling down.

He let out a little giggle in this position.

Bai Jing walked to Pai An , stuffing Bai Chao into her arms.

"Take care of the troublemaker."

"He learned that from you! You take care yourself." Pai An replied.

Nodding Bai Jing turned toward her mother.

Bai Ting quickly took steps forward to tightly embrace Bai Jing.

As the two tall women embraced, Bai Jing received a voice transmission from her mother.

'Don't worry Hunny, if your Father is too harsh on you, just tell me when you get back and I will teach him a lesson!'

A smile came over Bai Jing's face hearing this. After separating the two women winked at one another.

After the mother daughter pair separated, Ying Ying stepped forward with a large exquisite box packed in a cloth appearing in her hands.

"Princess I have brought a few snacks for you to enjoy while you're away"

Ying Ying smilingly spoke, handing over the box.

Bai Jing slapped her head in realization.

"Of course Ying Ying is the most thoughtful one. Thank you." Bai Jing thanked Ying Ying and stored the box in her space ring.

Then she reached her hand out to pinch Ying Ying's cheek out of habit, but paused for a moment. Instead Bai Jing switched and gave Ying Ying a hug.

Ying Ying froze for a moment before hugging her back.

The two separated and Bai Jing walked in front of her father.

Looking at Bai Jing's back, Ying Ying could feel the large amount of pure spirit energy that had entered herself.

As Bai Jing came to a stop in front of her father, he spoke up.

"Ready?"

Bai Jing nodded.

Hearing her response Bai Kong took a few steps back and waved his hand.

Various weapons appeared between the two.

"There are two matters you need to finish before we head off. First choose a weapon you will use in the future. You have yet to train with any weapons. A weapon can make up for your lack of close range combat ability, weapons can also drastically increase your fighting prowess." Bai Kong spoke seriously.

Bai Jing nodded her head and swept her gaze over the weapons scattered on the floor.

There were swords , sabers, spears, shields, maces, sickles, strange looking weapons she has never heard of, even a cauldron and paintbrush were there. After taking a look over them all, she made her decision relatively quick.

Bai Jing willed her Divine Sense and a sword flew to her. The sword was about two fingers in width and its length reached Bai Jing's chest from the ground.

Bai Jing looked at her father waiting for his next words.

Bai Kong nodded, the rest of the weapons then vanished.

Turning his head, Bai Kong looked in the direction of the clan's library. He reached his hand out in the same direction, making a grabbing motion.

Space distorted, folding around his hand.

Taking his hand back two jade slips and a manual appeared in his grasp.

Tossing the items at Bai Jing he spoke, "Choose one of these sword techniques to cultivate."

Bai Jing glanced at the items before her, first flipping through the manual titled .

After she got the gist of its capabilities she brought the jade slips to her forehead skimming through each of their contents after the other.

'These all seem to be harder to cultivate than any other technique I have learned! Are they above Earth grade?' Bai Jing was surprised.

After going through all three techniques she closed her eyes in thought for ten minutes before speaking out.

"I choose !"

Bai Kong nodded and the two jade slips flew away as space around them distorted and they disappeared.

"Alright it's time to leave. Lets go." Bai Kong commanded, opening the door and walking out the villa.

Bai Jing followed behind after bidding goodbye to everyone.

After catching up to her father and walking silently besides him for a while Bai Jing questioned him.

"We are headed to the Teleportation Hall? Where are we going to go?"

Hearing this a faint smile alas appeared on Bai Kong's face.

"You will see!" Was all he responded with.

'Look at you acting all mysterious!'

'This doesn't bode well for me seeing that smile.'

Bai Jing was a bit worried.

After arriving at the Teleportation Hall Bai Kong led Bai Jing to an underground room, with two guards stationed, where a teleportation array lay.

It was different from the one she usually took to the city.

Bai Kong took out a large spirit stone that floated into an indent on the ground, lighting up the formation.

Bai Jing could tell it was the highest grade spirit stone she has seen before.

'Is it top grade?' She wondered.

"Let's go!" Bai Kong called out as he stepped towards the center of the formation.

The two quickly arrived at the center of the formation.

The formation lit up with blinding light as space distorted. A moment later the phenomenon was gone and so were the father daughter duo.

......

A month or two after Bai Jing and her father set off.

Jiang Fu was flying in the air of a continent that was not the Xuan Continent.

This could be gathered just from the fact that the amount of spirit energy here was many times less than on the Xuan Continent.

As Jiang Fu was flying, his Divine Sense was spread out in all directions.

After a few days of flying, seemingly finding something interesting, Jiang Fu concealed his aura and went invisible. Rapidly heading in a different direction.

....

"Hahaha Jiang Chen, you've finally stopped running! Good good, I'll make your death a little less painful!" A black haired middle aged man spoke coldly. He seemed to be slightly wounded, a cut tor apart the shoulder area of his robe.

A shallow wound could be seen.

Killing intent was oozing from the middle aged man's eyes. He stared straight at the young man in front of him.

The young man was breathing heavily but he seemed calm and collected. There were bloodstains all over his body but none of it seemed to belong to himself.

The young man, Jiang Chen, was tall and good looking. His back was straight and he held a large saber in his hand.

Jiang Chen's breath quickly calmed, then he coldly spoke.

"You seem to misunderstand, I stopped because I thought here would be a good place to leave your corpse." Jiang Chen spoke showing no signs of fear.

"You? A mere Qi Condensation brat thinks he can kill me. I'll admit you got a hit in on me and caught me off guard, but that's the best you'll ever do. You can die proud, having managed to wound a Foundation Establishment cultivator!" The middle aged man spoke out in anger.

The man then made a few hand signs and shot his palm towards Jiang Chen.

"Now Die!" He yelled, as from his palm, a large five meter tall flaming palm crashed towards Jiang Chen.

As the flaming palm descended upon Jiang Chen, he calmly raised his saber with both hands as the faint image of a spinning wheel appeared behind his back.

The wheel quickly came to a stop and a rune meaning 'Fire' appeared.

Jiang Chen slashed at the encroaching palm, his saber emitting a faint red light.

As the saber made contact with the palm, it easily cleaved through it. Not only that it seemed that the fire spirit energy from the palm was being sucked into the saber.

Seeing his attack easily defeated the middle aged man's eyes widened in shock.

Not wanting to give his opponent any chance Jiang Chen quickly rushed at him and slashed out with his saber when he was only two meters away.

A large saber made of flames materialized and slashed at the man.

The man was quick to react as a small shield type artifact appeared in his hand, covering him in a light blue barrier and barely blocking the attack.

Cracks covered the barrier and it would soon crumble. The man wanted to quickly retreat but before he could execute his movement technique Jiang Chen was right in front of the man with his saber raised in the air.

This time however the rune on the faint wheel behind Jiang Chen had changed. The rune for 'Metal' was now showing.

The saber in Jiang Chen's hand emitted a dangerous aura. Taking on a shiny luster and appearing sharper.

Jiang Chen brought the saber down on the man's head with speed and strength, the muscles on his upper body bulging.

As the saber descended it easily cleaved through the cracked barrier.

Feeling the threat of death all the man could do was bring the small shield to meet the saber as he tried to retreat.

The shield only managed to last a moment before it was also cleaved through. The saber then continued down lopping off the man's arm and leaving a bone deep wound on his chest.

"AHHHHH! HOW! YOU LITTLE BASTARD!" The man screamed in pain, luckily managing to stay alive.

A crazy look appeared in his eyes as a cauldron shaped artifact appeared in the middle aged man's remaining hand.

He threw it at Jiang Chen, yelling furiously.

"EXPLODE!"

The artifact exploded in front of Jiang Chen with a flash of light. The middle aged man however was still close to the explosion and was sent flying back, heavily injured.

The man struggled to sit up, looking toward the fading smoke. A small white pill appeared in his hand that he plopped into his mouth, swallowing it.

"Is that monster dead?" The man hoped.

However his hope was quickly squashed.

As the smoke cleared Jiang Chen was still there, standing tall.

Behind his back the rune for 'Earth' had appeared. There was a light yellow barrier around him that was cracking and falling apart. His saber held horizontally on his chest smoking; broken pieces of rock all around him.

He looked a bit roughed up with some blood on his lips but besides that he seemed fine.

"No... How can you-" The man muttered in disbelief.

Jiang Chen didn't reply and started walking towards the man.

The man panicked, turning to flee.

However just as he turned with his back towards Jiang Chen, Saber Qi flashed over, decapitating the man.

An expression of fear still on his face.

Jiang Chen walked to the man's corpse taking the man's space ring and looting the body.

Done looting he quickly ran away, looking for a safe place to rest.

However what Jiang Chen failed to notice was that someone had watched the whole battle, hidden in the sky.
