Chapter 24: Beast Hall

'I don't know Little Jing. I had that special feeling I get when I see geniuses when I first saw him. Then I saw how despite his poor Spirit Root was, his Physique, Spirit Root, and cultivation method complimented with each other so well and had a strangeness to it I knew was special. The special feeling I got as I kept on watching him continued to grow until it equaled the feeling I get from you and your Father. That's all I know!' Jiang Fu was adamant towards Bai Jing's questioning.

Bai Jing has been trying to force Jiang Fu to reveal Jiang Chen's secrets and everything he knows about him but he has been insisting that he doesn't know anything.

'Maybe that's all you know but you must have some Ideas in your heart. Why would you tell me he is my potential rival otherwise? Huh? Come on just tell me!' Bai Jing felt that Jiang Fu wasn't being completely truthful.

"..."

'It's that ring isn't it? There is some strong master in that ring? I'm right aren't I?' Bai Jing insisted while looking intently at Jiang Fu.

Jiang Fu didn't reply for a while.

'By the way of which why did you go and attract so much hate towards Jiang Chen back there in front of that crowd? I saw the whole thing and I don't believe you didn't do that on purpose. You've never done something like that before.'

'What do you mean? Of course it was just to test him and help him out. You said he's my rival but I didn't believe it. I need to see how he handles some pressure and competition. It will only make him stronger.'

'I see... then would it not be better to find out what his secrets are on your own instead of asking me? Also why were you so interested in him all of a sudden? Is our Little Jing finally interested in a man?' Jiang Fu started fighting back against Bai Jing's questioning.

Bai Jing's face contorted into one of disdain.

'Hah! Whatever! Though I guess you are right about one thing. It would be too much of a spoiler if I found out his secrets now. How would that be good entertainment? I'll wait for some clues and figure it out myself.' Bai Jing started thinking about how her plans of watching Jiang Chen wouldn't be as good if she knew all of his secrets already. There wouldn't be much suspense.

'Entertainment?' Jiang Fu chuckled to himself with a shake of his head.

'However. I will tell you my top three guesses to whatever his secret is. If any of them turn out right you owe me a treasure or technique! Deal?' Bai Jing stared at Jiang Fu adamantly.

'Fine, fine!' Jiang Fu acquiesced.

'Good. Hmmm, well first off is that ring of his. Like I said earlier, it definitely has a strong master in it or is some sort of inheritance. Second is that he is the reincarnation of some strong cultivator. Third is that he is the missing or abandoned son of some reclusive powerful family!'

Jiang Fu looked strangely at Bai Jing.

'Why do you care so much about his background and secrets. When I first mentioned him you didn't seem to care but after you met him you seem so curious. What did you see? Or should I tell your mother to come meet her future Son-in-Law.'

Bai Jing rolled her eyes.

'I saw that he has an MC template of course!' Bai Jing thought but didn't transmit back.

After thinking about how to phrase her words, she responded.

'That Jiang Chen had an aura about him. His aura felt unique and otherworldly, like destiny was acting upon him... like he was being blessed by Heaven and Earth. That's what I thought when I saw him.' Bai Jing transmitted trying to act profound.

"What?" Jiang Fu blurted aloud, looking at Bai Jing incredulously.

"You could really see that?" Jiang Fu's expression turned excited and he started playing with his moustache.

Bai Jing was intrigued by his reaction.

"Uh, sort of, it was just a feeling I had, only for a moment."

"Interesting! A new era is coming, geniuses will start appearing from all over in droves. I'm sure of it. Yes!" Jiang Fu let out a hearty laugh.

"What is this about. Don't tell me there is some prophecy about this?" Bai Jing said, confused.

"Haha as expected of Little Jing. Your father may say there is no such prophecy but I would say yes!" Jiang Fu said while sticking out his chest.

"Oh, why is that?"

"Because... It is the the vision, no the prophecy I had when I was but a child!!! Brother Kong always laughed off that dream I had when I was a child but I always believed in it!" Jiang Fu was giddy with excitement.

"Oh? What exactly is this prophecy of yours?" Bai Jing was very intuited now and wanted to learn more.

"Cant say. I really cant say. It's not something I can explain it well and even if I do, everything could change! I originally thought It was about your Father. But maybe it was because I told him about it and he denied it that it never came true so I don't dare to mention it aloud again!" Jiang Fu waved his hands in denial. Adamantly refusing to tell Bai Jing anything about it.

Bai Jing looked at him with an unbelieving expression.

'You had me excited, I thought this was going to be some ancient prophecy but what, it's just some dream you had as a kid?' Bai Jing thought to herself.

Off to the side Ying Ying looked aggrieved.

'Why am I never included in the conversations! This isn't fair. I must to complain to the Young Miss later.' Ying Ying was looking towards Bai Jing with pouty lips but Bai Jing didn't seem to notice.

The trio had already managed to arrive before the Beast Hall during their conversations.

"We are here!" Jiang Fu announced but looked towards Bai Jing with an awkward smile.

"What?" Bai Jing rolled her eyes.

"Ahem, I know I said I would find some good spirit beasts for you but after hearing what you said I feel like I should go out and look for some more geniuses to bring into the sect. Before they are taken in by others!" Jiang Fu rubbed his hands together as he spoke with a cough.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

Bai Jing sighed.

"You see, this is why you and Aunty Chumei aren't together and married already. You always rush off to find geniuses and leave everything else behind. Just come in and help me find some good spirit beasts and then you can go. If you cant do that how do you expect me to help you get together with Chumei. I'm not a miracle worker." Bai Jing said helplessly.

"Haaa, you're right." Jiang Fu stopped smiling and nodded regretfully, looking helpless.

"Lets go." Bai Jing motioned at Jiang Fu to enter.

The two young women followed in after him.

The Beast Hall has various purposes. One of the main purposes is to provide beasts for transportation to disciples. The True Origin Sect covers a large area so it is more convenient for disciples, especially weaker ones, to travel on demon beasts for missions and other things.

The Beast Hall is basically a branch of the Beast Taming Hall and where Beast Tames keep various beasts for use by disciples. As a new Inner Disciple who has her own mountain, Bai Jing is entitled to receive a demon beast for free. So she plans on acquiring at least one.

An elder of the Beast Hall quickly greeted Jiang Fu and then started to bring them around the place, introducing various beasts. Jiang Fu would occasionally comment on one of the beasts and point out a few for Bai Jing.

...

Meanwhile Qiqi who had rushed to her cave abode on Origin Mountain at her fastest speed was panting and sweating as she entered her home.

Upon entering she slowly collapse onto the floor, comforted by the cooling sensation it gave off as she lay there with her cheek pressed against the ground and eyes closed. She had a slight smile on her face as she recalled the events that had just transpired.

Time slowly passed as she quietly lay there reminiscing.

"Huh!" With a start, Qiqi rapidly opened her eyes and pushed herself off the ground.

She gave her surroundings a quick glance, mummering to herself.

"It wasn't a dream right?"

After a few moments she clenched her fists and raised them into the air with a yell.

"Yes!!! Yes! Yes! Yes! It really happened!"

After her dramatic outburst she took a deep breath in and out to calm herself.

"Oh, not good I need to hurry and pack my things!" Qiqi spoke to herself in realization and quickly went to gather her things around the abode, not daring to be late meeting with Bai Jing.

...

"Okay Uncle Fu I have seen enough, you can go and do your thing now." Bai Jing told Jiang Fu after she had seen enough demon beasts and was bored.

Jiang Fu smiled and gave Bai Jing a few more suggestions before bidding farewell to Bai Jing and Ying Ying.

"Wait." Bai Jing called out, as Jiang Fu was turning to leave.

"Yes?"

"Don't forget you don't need to go far to look for geniuses. I told you about a strange hidden one not long ago didn't I? Make sure you take extra care of her and release her talents." Bai Jing said while pointing a Jiang Fu aggressively.

"Ah! Yes I almost forgot! A hidden genius even I missed!" Jiang Fu's eyes shined as he remembered the girl Bai Jing had pointed out to him earlier.

In truth, Jiang Fu was originally just humoring Bai Jing when she told him about the girl earlier. Thinking that Bai Jing was up to one of her shenanigans, he only planed on giving the girl a pointer or two if he saw her again. Since, after he had closely examined the girl and looked over her accomplishments he had not found anything too worthy of his attention except a decent proficiency in body refining.

However, after hearing what Bai Jing said about the feeling she had with Jiang Chen he believed that she could really see something special that he couldn't and planned to give the girl much of his attention and excavate whatever talent Bai Jing saw. He wondered what sort of talent Bai Jing felt and why she felt only he could help her.

Decided on nurturing this girl for now instead of immediately searching for other geniuses, Jiang Fu left the Beast Hall.

After Jiang Fu left, Bai Jing and Ying Ying slowly walked through the Beast Hall with an attendant walking respectfully behind them.

The Beast Hall took up a large portion of the sect on top the mountain and apparently had an entire pocket realm where they kept many of their demon beasts.

As Bai Jing was walking through a tranquil part of the beast hall she noticed a couple small brown birds that looked like sparrows sitting on a tree branch chirping while a few more flew around them. Finding their voices and appearance pleasant and feeling that they would elevate the atmosphere at her quiet place, Bai Jing waved at the attendant.

"I'll take them." Bai Jing said pointing towards the sparrow like birds.

"Right away!" The attendant quickly captured the palm sized sparrows.

There was nothing special about these birds, in fact they were just at the first level of Qi Condensation and weren't even tamed beasts. Just some sparrows that developed some spirituality and somehow made their home here.

The attendant informed Bai Jing of this and told her that there would be no cost to the birds and she could consider it a gift.

Bai Jing took the sparrows from the attendant and moved them into her empty beast ring for now. Then went over to a few demon beasts she was previously interested in.

Most Inner Disciples will choose a flying demon beast as their free beast and Bai Jing was no different. Flying demon beasts are both more convenient and faster for transportation but more expensive, so of course they would choose one.

Sadly Bai Jing is only granted a demon beast at Core Formation or lower for free. Higher level demon beasts require a certain amount of sect points and spirit stones to purchase. Bai Jing may be flush with spirit stones but she doesn't have too much sect points at the moment especially for Nascent Soul Stage Beasts or higher. Not to mention they don't allow disciples to purchase tamed beasts much stronger than themselves in most cases.

Bai Jing quickly came between two demon beasts she was trying to decide on.

One was a beautiful white and red crane at Late stage Core Formation called the Fallen Sun Crane. It stood there elegantly at a height of six meters tall with it's eyes closed basking in the sun. A few other cranes of the same species were near it doing the same.

The other bird was at Mid Stage Core Formation and looked similar to the sparrows she had gotten earlier except much larger in many ways. This bird was actually called a Queen Sparrow and stood a little over three meters tall. It had a large rotund body, it's fluffy chest and stomach seemed too exaggerated in comparison to its small head. It's head had nice golden brown feathers with some darker brown splotches that faded down into its fluffy snow white body.

After looking them both over for a while and asking the attendant a few questions Bai Jing eventually settled on the Queen Sparrow that had at some point made it's way over to Bai Jing. Friendlily standing in front of her looking at her curiously.

Bai Jing gently pet the Queen Sparrow on its chest, finding its feathers soft, fluffy, and cool to the touch; its chest soft and malleable as well. The Queen Sparrow closed its eyes in comfort from Bai Jing's touch. Little Zi had also poked it's head out from Bai Jing's chest to look at the creature.

Although she found the Crane more appealing and it had good potential according to Jiang Fu. She found out that the Queen Sparrow was much rarer and is hardly ever found in nature. Even if it is found, it usually only makes it to the Foundation Establishment realm at maximum. This one was already at Mid Core Formation and still looked relatively young. Evoking Bai Jing's gambler instincts that haven't treated her too well in the past.

The Queen Sparrow was much weaker than the Fallen Sun Crane in most aspects, only surpassing the crane by being surprisingly fast and nimble despite its large wide body but has little stamina to keep it up.

After telling the attendant her decision he fiddled with a jade disk that dispensed a jade slip he handed to Bai Jing, asking her to put a drop of her blood on it. She did so and immediately felt a connection to the Queen Sparrow, somewhat similar to what she felt with Little Zi.

The attendant then informed Bai Jing that she had tamed it and could take it away. The attendant had handed her a beast pouch earlier but Bai Jing denied it, as she had a much higher quality beast ring to use.

After choosing her free Spirit Beast Bai Jing and Ying Ying continued to roam the area looking for any other demon beasts to bring back.

Bai Jing saw a couple foxes she was tempted to get but they seemed more ferocious instead of cute and she felt if she were to get a fox it should be a multi tailed fox if anything. She saw a couple other cute creatures but eventually decided against them.

Ying Ying suggested looking for some aquatic creatures to put into the pond, to which Bai Jing agreed. However there weren't to many fish and aquatic creatures. Eventually Bai Jing found some pretty looking fish that glowed different colors at night, as well as a couple Koi to add to the pond.

The Midnight Glow Fish weren't expensive and only cost a few spirit stones for a batch. However the Koi were surprisingly expensive and cost around ten high grade spirit stones each and they were only in the early Qi Condensation realm. Bai Jing didn't get too many of them.

Bai Jing and Ying Ying spent the rest of the time leisurely walking around looking at the different unique beasts until they were ready to leave and see if Qiqi and Shang Zhi had shown up.
