As Bai Jing flew towards the sect she created a barrier around her. Taking out some scroll paper and a brush, she started sketching something on it.
Soon they arrived at Origin Mountain, Bai Jing led Ying Ying towards the Admission Hall once again.
'What are we doing back here?' Ying Ying wondered.
Entering the building Ying Ying bowed and exclaimed, "Greetings Elder Ping!"
He Ping's brows lifted in surprise seeing the two women so soon after they had left.
"Oh, what are you two doing back here?" He Ping asked.
Bai Jing nonchalantly walked up and spoke to He Ping.
"I want three more sect uniforms for myself." Bai Jing requested.
Ying Ying shook her head by the side, hearing this.
He Ping gazed up and down at the sect uniform Bai Jing was wearing.
"Inner Disciples can get their uniform repaired or even a new one for cheap if it was damaged during a mission or sect event. Otherwise one must pay the full price in spirit stones or sect points, which is not cheap considering they are defensive treasures." He Ping explained.
"I'll pay in spirit stones. How much?"
He Ping shrugged his shoulders and told her.
"Make it four." Bai Jing waved her hand over the counter causing a pile of mid grade spirit stones to appear.
Receiving the uniforms Bai Jing quickly left without saying anything, walking elsewhere.
Ying Ying apologized and bowed to He Ping then quickly followed Bai Jing.
....
In front of a small nine story pagoda, sect disciples could bee seen coming in and out. Most of these disciple's gazes would gravitate to the side, where Bai Jing and Ying Ying stood.
Hanging on the pagoda was a plaque that said "Library of Origin" that Bai Jing was gazing at.
'I hope they have a technique like that!' Bai Jing hoped to herself.
Bai Jing took a deep breath and entered with Ying Ying.
Upon entering the pagoda she noticed that the inside was massive, many times bigger than it was on the outside.
Within the library were rows upon rows of shelves filling the place. Upon the shelves were scrolls, jade slips, tablets, and many others. Disciples could be seen walking between the shelves and occasionally picking up a scroll or jade to read.
As Bai Jing took in the scene, a young woman with short brown hair dressed in the same uniform as Ying Ying came up to the two.
Stopping a few steps away from Bai Jing, the girl sheepishly twiddled in place before timidly speaking.
"Would you happen to be Senior Sister Bai Jing, that just joined the sect?"
Bai Jing gazed down at the girl.
"Oh, seems like word spreads quickly. That's right I'm Bai Jing."
'Mediocre, five out of ten.' Bai Jing habitually thought.
The girl smiled cheerfully when she heard the confirmation.
"I-I'm Lin Wenling!" She exclaimed, then just stared at Bai Jing.
"..."
Bai Jing was silent, just staring at the girl, waiting.
Knowing how Bai Jing acted around stranger, Ying Ying stepped in and introduced herself.
"Hello I'm Pai Ying! I take care of the Young Miss. Is there something you wanted to say?"
The girl woke up from her stupor.
"Ah! Yes it's nice to met you!" Lin Wenling bowed.
"I heard you two just arrived today, I can give you a tour of the sect! I can start by showing you around the library! Is there something in particular you are looking for?" The girl looked at Ying Ying, then Bai Jing hopefully.
"No need." Bai Jing simply responded.
The girl's face fell, looking disheartened too hear Bai Jing's cold words.
"However, you could give me an introduction to the library." Bai Jing continued.
A smile quickly returned to Lin Wenling's face. She hurriedly walked to Bai Jing's side, beginning to introduce the library while walking.
"This is the Library's first floor. It doesn't contain any techniques or manuals, only various information, stories, maps, and the like. If you find something you like, you can read through it on the spot if it's complete, or go to the front desk over there and get a copy if it's available." Lin Wenling pointed to a large counter with some disciples and an elder.
Bai Jing and Ying Ying nodded in understanding.
"Is there any information you would like to look for?" Lin Wenling asked enthusiastically.
"No." Bai Jing responded simply.
"Then lets go to the next floor!" Lin Wenling stepped ahead of Bai Jing and Ying Ying, leading them to the center of the library, where a large sparling staircase of white stone stood.
It took a while to walk to the stairs because flying and running was prohibited within the library.
Ascending to the next floor, Lin Wenling explained.
"The second floor contains all the Mortal grade techniques and cultivation manuals, as well as the beginner parts of higher grade cultivation manuals and techniques."
Mortal grade techniques are suitable for cultivators at the Body Tempering to Foundation Establishment realm. Past those initial realms they don't have much use to learn, as Mortal Grade techniques involve a more rudimentary use of Qi, low requirements for ones Qi, or may not even require Qi or other types of energy.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
The second floor was quite similar to the previous floor, except much smaller and there were a few pieces of jades floating at different stations, disciples were crowded around them.
"Those jade pieces contain most of the different types of techniques and manuals. You can just scan through it to find the techniques you want and a description of it." Lin Wenling continued her explanation.
"I don't think there would be anything Senior Sister would want here, I will show you to the next floor now!"
Bai Jing nodded and Lin Wenling headed towards the stairs, but after a moment Bai Jing stopped.
Glancing at a station with a floating jade that said "Sword", Bai Jing turned and walked towards it.
"Hold on for a moment." Bai Jing stated as she walked away.
"Yes Senior Sister!"
Ying Ying and Lin Wenling did not have to wait long. They watched as the disciples parted wherever Bai Jing walked, then stared at her as she passed them. After standing a few meters away from the jade with her eyes closed, Bai Jing walked to a counter, gave her token to a male disciple that was staring dumbly at her, and received a green scroll titled [Fast Sword].
The only sword technique Bai Jing knew was [Hurricane Sword]. However, Hurricane Sword was a high level technique and dealt more with Qi utilization and profundities, not basic swordsmanship. So Bai Jing wanted a basic, foundation level technique, to elevate her swordsmanship, something she realized when she was out training with her Father, forced to experience close combat.
Returning to the group, Bai Jing urged Lin Wenling to continue, the group ascended to the third level.
"The third level contains the Earth Grade techniques and manuals, as well as the continuation of the higher level techniques that may be found on the lower floor and ones that were not."
Earth Grade techniques were useful even above the Nascent Soul realm. They had a higher requirement on one's Qi quality and volume, as well as one's comprehension and mental strength.
Bai Jing smirked upon reaching the third floor, Lin Wenling happened to catch this and became entranced.
Moving past Lin Wenling who was just staring at her, Bai Jing spoke.
"I'll browse this place myself now, you can show Ying Ying around the rest if you want." Bai Jing said, sweeping her gaze through the place, looking for something.
"O-okay!" Lin Wenling responded, coming out of her stupor.
...
While walking about, Bai Jing eyes widened slightly when she saw an area for mental and pupil techniques, taking a particular interest in them.
She started browsing through the scrolls as well as the floating information jade.
After an hour of searching a smile appeared on Bai Jing's face.
'This is just what I was looking for!' Bai Jing thought excitedly.
She didn't bother looking for any other techniques, quickly striding over to the counter where an Elder was stationed, she promptly received a copy of the technique in the form of a jade slip.
There was no need to spend any points for it, as she just showed her sect token and received it as one of the three free Earth grade techniques she gets for becoming an inner disciple.
Turning away from the counter she spread out her Divine Sense and saw Ying Ying and Lin Wenling walking together.
Bai Jing sent a voice transmission to Ying Ying, asking if she was finished and wanted to head down to the city with her.
"I'm sorry Sister Wenling but the Young Miss would like to go to the city now, so I must leave you now. Thank you for taking the time to show us around!" Ying Ying apologized and bid farewell.
"Eh, that's it? I can come and show you around the city as well!" Lin Wenling seemed a bit flustered.
"The Young Miss is already on her way out, maybe next time. I'll contact you another time and you can show us around." Ying Ying smiled and left, leaving Lin Wenling behind.
Bai Jing and Ying Ying quickly left the library, heading down the mountain and into the city.
Arriving at the bustling city, Ying Ying asked Bai Jing what she wanted to do at the city.
"Find a good clothing store or tailor for me." was Bai Jing's response.
"Of course that's what it is." Ying Ying said with an eye roll.
Ying Ying started asking around for any suitable shops. It dint take long to receive information on a few places. Bai Jing listened to the description of a few places before deciding on one that was close and seemed interesting.
Soon they arrived at an elegant three story shop named "Divine Beauty", there was a glass window out front that had beautiful life like women doing a different pose every minute. These life like women were actually puppets and wore an assortment of clothing that were all beautiful and unique, as well as revealing.
As Bai Jing and Ying Ying entered the store, there came the sultry, welcoming voice of a mature women.
"Welcome to Divine Beauty!"
"Oh my, how gorgeous! What a treat, I rarely get a beauty of your caliber at my shop, how can I help you?" a mature lady at the counter exclaimed.
She looked to be in her thirties but her skin was just like that of a newborn yet she had all the charm of an older lady.
The lady had her hair done up, looking slightly messy, with ornaments and a crown on her head. Her hair was a silky black and let off a shine.
She was playing with one of her earrings, she wore three on each ear that didn't match each other but still gave a sense of unity. She had two beauty marks on the left side of her face, at the corner of her lip and eye, and wore a loose peach colored dress that wrapped around her shoulders and exposed her cleavage. The corner of the lady's lips curled up, exposing a pearly white canine.
Bai Jing's eyes lit up at the sight of the woman and smoothly approached her.
"It's nice to meet you Big Sister. Where did you get the dress your wearing? You look great in it. Do you think I could pull off the look?" Bai Jing spoke with a warm smile gradually appearing on her face, leaning on the counter, hand on her cheek.
'This is the first time I have seen the Young Miss take such an initiative to talk to someone new since she was a child!' Ying Ying was surprised.
The mature woman's smile grew wider hearing Bai Jing's words.
"Please, just call me Sister Fei! I in fact made this dress myself, I only wear clothes that I make. I'm sure you could pull this dress off even better than me with a few modifications and a change of color. Shall I get your measurements? I can have something prepared for you in a couple weeks." Sister Fei spoke admiringly.
"You can just call me Sister Jing. That wasn't my original intention but sure, that sounds wonderful." Bai Jing spoke kindly, her icy persona completely melted away.
"Wonderful!" Sister Fei exclaimed.
Ying Ying was startled hearing this and sent a voice transmission to Bai Jing, advising her against buying such a thing, it being far too revealing and improper.
Although Bai Jing was wearing shorter and shorter skirts and no footwear, her top was the same as other women and didn't reveal much.
Bai Jing did not respond to Ying Ying, just saying, "Oh, my friend behind would also like something in a similar style. She doesn't have much to show off so I wonder if it would be too difficult for you to make?"
"Mmmm, quite, don't worry though, I have something in mind. Give me some time and I will have something perfect thought up!"
"Good! She's ecstatic to hear that. Oh and don't show her your design later, she likes surprises."
"And what was it that you originally wanted to get, that you previously mentioned?" Sister Fei was shaking her rear back and forth as she spoke.
"Here you go." Bai Jing spoke with a wave of her hand. Four inner sect disciple uniforms landed on the counter, as well as a scroll.
The woman looked curious and opened the scroll. When she saw the contents her eyes shined like stars.
"Did you come up with these designs Sister Jing? I love them! It shouldn't take too long to modify these uniforms. Finally a sensible sect disciple that realizes the importance of fashion! I'll throw in a little something special for you too, as a token of our new friendship!" Sister Fei ended her fawning with a wink towards Bai Jing.
The two women continued to talk away about Bai Jing's designs while Ying Ying just stood behind Bai Jing, staring blankly.
It took a while for Bai Jing and Ying Ying to finally leave the store, personally escorted out by Sister Fei. Bai Jing and Sister Fei warmly bid each other goodbye, holding hands, while Ying Ying was off to the side looking cold.
As the two women got further from the store Bai Jing's face gradually turned cold again, while Ying Ying became more cheerful. Ying Ying also began berating Bai Jing for her fashion choices and swearing she will never wear the dress Bai Jing ordered for her.
Bai Jing showed no response, seemingly enjoying Ying Ying's complaints.
They only walked past a few more stores before Bai Jing was ready to leave and head back to Cracked Jade Mountain. However as she was about to tell Ying Ying she saw a construction shop in the distance, giving her an idea.
She entered the shop briefly before exiting and leaving the city with Ying Ying.
"That's it? That was short, are you sure there isn't anything else you want to do? Why don't we go back to the sect to see some missions?" Ying Ying questioned, confused by the shortness of the visit. Usually Bai Jing spends much longer shopping and exploring.
"Yes, I need to learn this technique in time." Bai Jing replied, speeding up on the way home.
"In time for what? What technique?"
Bai Jing just sped up even more without responding.
"Wait for me! You're going to fast!" Ying Ying shouted from behind, pushing her Qi to the limits trying to catch up.
