Huh, I guess all the physical activities were enough for the Skill to level 10. I go into meditation and enter my domain core to see the Skill construct. I see that the chamber with the putty-like thing is now 5 feet tall. I guess as they level the quirks become more effective at their task. I open the quirk selection.
[Choose one of the following quirks--
-Defence
-Agility
-Fluidity
-Flexibility
-Dexterity]
I think over the options and discard the Defense option immediately as I don't need it right now. Agility is in the same circle. Fluidity confuses me a bit about how that works but keeps it an option as it might be a mix of the next two. Flexibility and Dexterity both seem like good options as both will do their part in crafting and fighting but I look at the third option in contemplation. But in the end, I went with Flexibility as I had noticed that the previous quirk could not fully change my physical body so I thought that this one might make me more flexible as I don't need high dexterity all the time and if I had to look for dexterity I would go with Technology as the Aspect for it to be under not Nature.
After choosing the quirk I see another tank materialize on top of the Adaption chamber, about two feet tall. In the tank was a bundle of cartilage, muscle and plant fibres writhing, the pinkish fluid of the chamber took on a greenish tint that then got ported into the main tank through the vein-like tubes. I exited the core and found myself sitting on the chair staring at the Illumica wings.
I shook my head felt a bit weird as my head bent a little too easily. I shooed those thoughts away and looked at the jars of clay and slime. I got up and went to the mortar with the thislethorne bones and started crushing them. I ground them with the pestle for a minute I felt my grip and crushing force become stronger. After the Skill activated the bones got crushed easily into a semi-fine powder.
I look at the wall filled with tools and search for a container where I could mix the clay, slime and bone dust. I found a smallish cauldron with a lid with a vent on a shelf. I guess it will do. I put a scoop of the deep clay and about half of the earth slime into the cauldron. I activated my energy sense to see that now I can get a feel for the affinity of the natura of an object. I found that the earth jelly, which had a loamy fresh feeling affinity to it, did not mix well with the damp dark feeling deep clay. I tried mixing it more thoroughly but they were like water and oil, not mixing at all. Then I thought that I might have to do a little alchemy for this to mix.
I got a bit of the bone dust and sprinkled some into the mixture. It still didn't do anything, so I took a bit of my mana and channelled it through my arms and out. When my mana string got out it was attracted to the cauldron as if attracted by a magnet. I let it into the cauldron and see that my mana gets spread throughout the cauldron more easily. I then try to suffuse the ingredients with my mana and guide them to the result I want.
Suddenly I felt the ingredients mix slightly, when I looked into it closely I saw that the plant affinity of the bones is active as a conduit for the deep clay's dark water affinity and slime's fresh earth affinity. I slowly put the rest of the bone dust into the cauldron while mixing it. But I still find that the mixture still is a bit lumpy and not uniform.
I think of ways to correct it. I try to manipulate the ingredients with mana but that doesn't do it like it did with aether. I then try to look for an alchemical base or solvent in the catalogue. I found tier 1 pure water which is both so I took a bottle of it.
I put a cup of water in the mixture and stirred it but it still didn't dissolve right. I had to put around 250 ml of pure water into it, almost fully dissolving it did the mixture got stable. It even became a dark gray-green colour, but it felt as if it were missing something. My eyes then went to the sunshard and I got an idea.

I take a small chisel and separate two small chips from the main shard. Then I ground the shard into a powder which I mixed in the cauldron. I immediately got a reaction as the mixture started to shine slightly and the energies of the ingredients started to resonate with the plant affinity of the bones. I see that the mixture is still sloppy and not fit for modelling, so I put a stove-like thing on the shelf onto the table. The stove had a red gem on the front which I realized was a fire core from my senses. I turned the dial on the side of the contraption and a flame sparked on top of it.
I put the cauldron on it and put the lid on top of the cauldron to let the water boil off for a bit. I took the fragments of the sunshard to a fine grinder and gave them the shape of eyes. In the time I made the crystal eyes the mixture had grown thick enough to use as modelling clay and its energy signature had also changed to a short tree with a vast and deep root system. I took out the heap of pale green clay from the cauldron to the workbench.
I took a small bit from the warm steaming pile of clay and started making the torso of the fairy I was going to make. I then make the legs, then the arms. I give the doll longer and more articulated fingers for tending to more delicate plants. I noticed that I had forgotten to leave a socket for the plant elemental seed on the torso so I quickly carved out a small pocket in the middle of the ribcage. I then make the head of the doll, giving its ears a slight point and eyes remain hollow as I will put the sunshard fragments in there.
After making the body I leave it near the burner which is still a bit hot to dry a bit but not fully. I then have an idea, if I am going to use this in summoning it's better to give this doll some runic marks. I go to the catalogue to look for some magic ink for drawing runes.
The catalogue shows a multitude of choices, all of which were tier 1. I browsed through the inks and found three which I could use in this. First, Blood sap ink, which was made of some kind of plant affinity sap, Vitality affinity blood, mana crystals and water. This ink is used for greenhouse or garden growth wards.
Next, Summon bind ink, it's used in binding tattoos and contract writing. It can even be used on any vessel to specify the type of abilities you want it to have.
Finally, Runic tattoo imprinter (Garden), was a magic tattoo ink based around Garden type affinities. I then thought of my Achievement's effect of applying my traits to my magic and grinned.
I took the cauldron which I found surprisingly clean even after literally cooking mud in there. I even checked with my energy sense and didn't find any traces of the clay in there. I shrugged and poured one-third of all three ink into the cauldron. They immediately started to destabilize, I quickly put my mana into the cauldron and tried to stabilize it. After manipulating it mentally to not react very violently I start to stir it. As the energies of the inks mingle and start to change I put a bit of the remaining clay that I made, with some pure water and some of my blood which I extracted using a small thislethorne spike.
I got a bit confused when I saw the spine starting to melt when I did not put it in the cauldron. When I looked closely I saw that a drop of my blood was eating the thorn I remembered that my body is mostly made of nanites. I drop the melting thorn into the cauldron and keep stirring until it is at a consistency in which I can use it as paint.
I then bottled the dark blue ink up in an empty glass vial that I found. After that, I took a small brush and started painting runes on its arms, but before I drew a rune fully I remembered that my native language was runic here and started using that to see its effects. I wrote Dexterous, Caring and Control in tiny letters on both arms. I then create a rune matrix around the core socket using Plant, Magic, Harmony, Nurture, Growth and Enchant runes, by making two overlapping trifectas using Magic, Plant and Enchant, the other using the rest. Then I put the runes of Wind, Fight and Wing on the back where I will attach the butterfly wings. I see that I still had some ink left and made some art of vines and plants on the bare body of the doll.
When I finished painting I put the sunshard fragments into the eye sockets. Then I opened the case in which the beautiful glittering giant illumica wings were and took those out with a tweezer with soft tips. I used a bit of the remaining wet clay to attach the wings near where the shoulder blades would be on a human's back.
I then gently place the plant elemental seed into the core socket and mould some clay to firmly hold it in place.
At last, I used the springy triangular Spring Sprout grass to make a dress on the figure. I noticed the satchel had some normal long grass in it so I used it to make long hair on the bald head of the fairy.
When I completed the figurine I smiled at the fantastic fairy I had created. If I had my {Modulator} I would have used some kind of glow module to make it more beautiful and could have made some serious buck selling it as a toy for rich girls. I laugh at the thought. Seeing that I had some of the clay left I put it in a jar for later use. Even the ink had about a quarter left. I put those to the side and took the glass case that the wings were in and put the fairy model in it.
I thought about going out of the room to look for Emir and show him my work, but I refrained as I didn't know where he was or how to get back here. I also noticed that Noctaru is not in the room, I guess I didn't notice as my full focus was on the crafting.
I mentally ask Noctaru, "Where are you?" I immediately get an answer. "With long ears, he is making food! He even gave me some beetles to snack on!"
Huh, I guess I spent a few hours crafting this. Most likely the 'tinker twitch' took over somewhere in there. "Please tell Emir I have finished crafting the figurine."
"Ok! Summoner!" He replied and I also heard, "Long ears! Summoner has finished playing with stuff!" I guess he doesn't know how to disconnect a telepathic line fully. I sigh and disconnect. I just sit back on the chair and relax until Emir arrives.
