Arcane Compendium of Magical Theories (Part 1)

-Introduction to basic energies-

Era 74, Year 254

Welcome to the introduction to the basic energies that constitute the mind, world and soul, young magelings. I am, Chadelv Venborn, (Arcane Strategist), writing some of my findings and theories for the next generations.

MANA—

First, we will learn about the most easily accessible and usable energy, Mana. It is produced by anything that can think or was a part of something that could think, like a beast core. Mana is mostly used to cast spells and power enchantments. Yet it can be used for a myriad of other things like druidics, ritualism, alchemy and many more. Mana is mostly in a gaseous state in our surroundings but it can take a liquid or solid state based on circumstances. The best example of this happening is in dungeons, as they can control environmental mana way more easily than others.

The mana is stored in inanimate objects in mana pathways that are different based on the material, mana activities, etc. This can give the object magical capabilities. These kinds of objects are mostly magical beasts or plant corpses or body parts as the body uses the residual spiritua or natura to carve these pathways based on the traits and skills of the creature.

The thinking beings can store mana around their main domain core in the spiritual form. The capacity can be based on many factors like traits, Skills, Abilities, equipment, etc.

Normally a thinking being generates new mana and can recover through that but it can be slow. Instead, someone can pull the mana from the surroundings into their mana pool to regenerate quickly but the mana that was taken in needs to be processed before it can be used normally. This can create a bit of mental strain as you need to hold the mana near your pool until converted as it tries to get out.

**WARNING** DO NOT USE OUTSIDE MANA TO CAST A SPELL AS IT CAN GO OUT OF CONTROL.

Mana can also cause a magical event called 'Confluence of Thoughts'. In this event the subconscious thoughts and feelings that taint the local mana cause it to create multitudes of effects. It happens because everyone is leaking a bit of mana with their subconscious thoughts into the manasphere around them. When a big event happens most of the creatures in that area may feel a certain emotion or think a thought subconsciously that gets leaked with the mana. That on a high scale makes it so that the mana gets a will which manifests a phenomenon that is a lot like a ritual. But this can be circumvented by some ingenious enchantment made by the (Mad Enchanter) in Era 72, year 347. We will talk about that enchantment in a different book as this is meant for beginners.

NATURAL ENERGY—

Next, we will learn about the energy that constitutes most of the physical world after the Merging of Era 57. It is called Natural Energy or Natura for short.

This makes up most of the physical world. It can be used to manipulate said physicality. Though I have that you cannot store it in you and if you use the natural energy in your body you will likely kill yourself by dematerialising your body.

This can be manipulated by connecting mana to it and commanding or requesting your outcome. This can be done mentally but verbalising the command or request is a lot easier to handle. To verbalise you need to put mana in your voice, this technique can also be used in various other arcane crafts.

This energy at its basic level can be used to manipulate physical material, natural phenomena or more mundane types of plants. But its true capabilities can be easily seen when it is used to modify a spell. For example, starting with a firebolt spell and asking the natural energy to make it so that my spell doesn’t miss my target might make the bolt into a firefly for less damage but more accuracy.

This can also create a magical event called ‘Confluence of Nature'. This can cause an array of effects based on where it happens and the catalyst of it. Unlike its mana-based variant, this happens when almost anywhere and anytime to anything but what it does can also be from minute like a flower changing colours to a beast mutating during their evolution. These cannot be documented very easily as the natura already moves to almost anything so it cannot be monitored easily when the change is not very large.

SPIRITUAL ENERGY—

This is the byproduct of the existence of souls. When a soul bearer dies the soul sheds it’s outer layer which creates a lot of spiritual energy. This is the hardest energy to control. Its uses are higher tier so we will not be talking about that until later in this book.

EXAMPLES OF CONFLUENCES—

**The Rise of the Starwing Queen: A Mythic Evolution Unveiled**

*Location:* Silverhill, Heimholn.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

*Time:* Era 71, year 34.

In a tale that blurs the lines between reality and legend, the enigmatic figure of the Starwing Queen has emerged as a beacon of fascination and intrigue, her origins shrouded in the mists of myth and mystery. The saga begins in the quaint town of Silverhill, where whispers of a new entity, the Starwing Queen, first graced the ears of its inhabitants in the early months of Era 71, year 34.

The genesis of this remarkable rumour can be traced back to the unprecedented evolution of the Silverlings, native avian creatures known for their solitary nature and metallic plumage. In an astonishing turn of events, a sizable portion of Silverlings underwent a transformative process, emerging as the elusive Starlings, adorned with celestial hues that defied conventional understanding. Their once solitary tendencies were shattered as they congregated in vast flocks, their synchronized movements painting the sky with an ethereal dance.

The townsfolk, captivated by this spectacle, spun tales of a mythical being, the Starwing Queen, believed to possess the ability to command these newfound Starlings with unparalleled mastery. Yet, the truth behind the legend proved to be far more extraordinary than fiction could ever conjure.

Amidst the flock of Starlings, a juvenile Silverling with a rare mutation emerged as a harbinger of change. Endowed with both Star and Mental affinities, instead of the customary Night and Metal affinities, this extraordinary creature defied expectations by communicating with its kin through telepathy, imparting knowledge of the Star affinity and fostering unity among the flock.

As months passed and the flock swelled in numbers, reaching a critical mass of Starlings, a convergence of mystical forces known as a “Confluence of Nature” bestowed upon the juvenile Silverling the mantle of leadership, elevating her to the status of a Starwing leader variant. Simultaneously, the “Confluence of Thought” triggered a profound evolution, transforming her into the legendary Starwing Queen—the first of her kind and bearer of the title {Progenitor}.

With her newfound status and heightened mental faculties, the Starwing Queen transcended the boundaries of species, forging a symbiotic bond with the neighbouring dwarven kingdom of Heimholn. In a historic accord, the dwarves pledged non-aggression towards the benevolent queen and granted her dominion over one of the floating islands that dotted the skies, ensuring her sovereignty and safeguarding the delicate balance between their realms.

As the Starwing Queen’s legend continues to unfold, her presence serves as a testament to the enduring power of evolution, cooperation, and the mystical forces that shape the realms of both mortals and myth.

**Ancient Statue Awakens, Resembles Deity from Goblin Mythology**

*Location:* Temple Ruins, Toko Hoko Forest, Malank

*Date* Era 66, year 22

In a remarkable turn of events, the ancient stone statue nestled within the moss-covered ruins of Toko Hoko has been witnessed springing to life, embodying the revered god of the hunt from the lore of a nearby tribe of semi-sapient goblins. This extraordinary occurrence has captivated both archaeologists and locals, shedding light on the enigmatic ties between divine and reality.

The statue, previously an object of veneration for the goblin tribe inhabiting the surrounding jungle, now stands animated and majestic, its features resonating with the essence of the god they once worshipped. Witnesses describe the statue’s transformation as nothing short of miraculous, with its stone form infused with vitality and purpose.

According to tribal lore, the deity represented by the statue was revered as the master of the hunt, guiding the goblins in their pursuits and ensuring the bounty of the forest. The deity’s manifestation in the physical realm has sparked fervent celebrations among the goblins, who view this event as a divine affirmation of their beliefs.

Experts later grappling to comprehend the implications of this phenomenon, attributing it to a convergence of mystical forces known as a “Confluence of Thoughts.” This convergence occurs when collective subconscious beliefs and desires intersect with the ambient mana, giving rise to tangible manifestations of the collective psyche.

Magus Elena Ramirez, a mage specializing in ancient civilizations, remarks, “The awakening of the statue is a testament to the profound connection between belief and reality. The goblins’ unwavering faith in their deity has imbued the statue with a semblance of life, blurring the boundaries between myth and the tangible world.”

As scholars and mystics converge on Toko Hoko Forest to witness this unprecedented event, the statue stands as a testament to the enduring power of belief and the mystical forces that shape our world.

**The Eerie Transformation of Blackwood: Haunting Encounters in the Shadowed Grove**

*Location:* Blackwood Forest, Monroe.

*Time* Era 68, year 234.

In the heart of the foreboding Blackwood Forest, a chilling transformation has gripped the land, casting a veil of mystery over its ancient depths. Within the shadowy embrace of the towering trees, whispers of the sinister Blackwood have begun to permeate the air, weaving a tale of unearthly evolution and spectral intrigue.

At the onset of Era 68, year 234, rumours surfaced among the intrepid denizens of Blackwood, hinting at the emergence of a new entity shrouded in darkness and dread. The catalyst for this unsettling whisper was none other than the transformation of the forest itself, as the gnarled branches and twisted roots underwent a metamorphosis into forms unseen and unnerving.

Gone were the vibrant hues of life, replaced by an ominous gloom that enveloped the forest in an aura of perpetual twilight. Strange, otherworldly flora emerged from the forest floor, their twisted forms exuding an aura of malevolence and despair. As the moon cast its pallid light upon the tangled canopy above, tales of harrowing encounters began to surface, painting a picture of a nightmare realm lurking within the Blackwood’s depths.
