I suddenly open my eyes and see a stone ceiling. I feel that I am on a rough bed. I get up to look around. I see a lanky man with long blonde hair in white robes reading a book, I could not get a good look at its cover as he puts the book away after seeing me get up. “So finally you wake up. After taking 5 tier 2 healing potions, as we could not fully discern what was wrong with you.” He said in an agitated tone.

I look around to see that I am in a big stone room with many beds with two curtains separating them. I then remembered the system message and the white room. I tried to bring up my status screen. And it appeared.

I see that the status is real. Before I can look more into it I feel a slight tingling sensation.

I look up to see the man's eyes glowing slightly. The man then sighs and leaves the room after telling me to rest some more. I still feel slightly dizzy so I heed his words and rest my head on the pillow but don’t fall asleep.

So minutes after leaving the lanky man returns with a woman in tow. She was wearing a black and red dress that didn’t affect her movement. She had a bit of a tan on her skin, and silky black hair put up into a bun. She looked at me with her ruby-like eyes and I noticed that her ears were very pointy and elongated.

“Hello! Can you understand me?” She asks in an authoritative voice. I nod because I understand her. “Good then let’s start with introductions. I am Trelomy Whiteleaf, the Guild Master of the Adventurers Guild, Woodsfont branch. I am now officially welcoming you to the world of Nexus, the Adventurers Guild and the Kragath Kingdom. I know that you might be confused, but we will help you as much as we can in your early days. You can request a teacher for you at any time from me. A room at the Goodberry Inn has been booked for a month for your stay here. When you are ready you may register yourself with the guild for an identity card. Please ask any questions you have.” She said a bit slowly but clearly. Most likely she thought I was a bit dizzy after what happened but right now I felt completely fine. So I asked a question that is bugging me slightly.

“Did I appear in the town?”

She replied with a bit of amusement, “No, you were found in the deeper part of the Forest, naked, lying in a fairy ring while being watched over by a treant. A druid went to see what the nature sprites were so excited about. There he found you and he promised that you will talk to that treant after you have recovered. He brought you hear two days prior. He has asked to talk to you if you allow it, he is in the main room right now.”

“No not now, later. I want to ask about some of the things in the system. What are the Traits, Affinity and Achievements?” I asked but I felt that something was wrong.

“ Those are good things to ask. Traits are the magical qualities that your physical or spiritual body has like the (Adaptive) trait of us elves that let us physiologically, mentally and magically adapt to any condition given enough time. Or the (Tough) trait of the goliaths that makes their bodies twice as tough and resistant. These traits can affect your skills slightly. As with goliaths, their trait makes any skills or magic that makes them tougher and more effective, or us elves' trait make the skills and magic effects fit us better.

Affinities are the aspect we are linked to. They change our mind, body and domain core to match the aspect that they represent to the concept you have of them. The broader the affinity the lower the degree of changes. It also makes us more efficient at those types of magic. The percentage that you see beside it is how much you are in tune with the aspect.

Achievements are a result of a feat that you have done, as an otherworlder you should not have an Achievement lower than epic, because Achievements lower than that don’t leave a mark on your soul. The system found those Achievements by looking through the marks on your soul. These can give effects like perks that are most of the time passive and sometimes active. They cannot be turned off. I would also suggest that you create abilities or skills to represent those Achievements, having those will make the effects better. But only make it if the Achievements are higher than very rare or unique. Any more questions?

I nod at the explanation but I do not know what a 'Domain core' is so I ask her.

“Ah! The Domain core is a part of the spiritual body that opens a plain made of natural energy and spiritual energy that get changed to fit your concepts, traits and affinities. Here you can create Skills and Abilities. You start with a singular core, which is the general or personal core, you can create any Skills or Abilities that your affinities allow. You will get more cores as you get your Classes. These cores have a capacity that increases as you use the skills and abilities in them.

Before you ask I will give you the explanation of Skills and Abilities.

Skills are spiritual constructs that you create in your domain cores that help you with certain tasks. These skills can take on an aspect at every 20 levels and quirks at every 10 levels. These make the skills grow in different ways. You can dismantle these skills but you will not get any spent aspects back. Skills take more space to build in the domain core but they get stronger over time.

Abilities are spiritual constructs of the domain core that are more static in their growth. They cannot level or take aspects themselves but they can be linked to a Skill for support. These take considerably less space in the domain core to build.

I will give some examples. Let’s say someone with Beast and Wind Affinity makes a (Enhanced Senses) Skill, then at the time of creation, he will have to choose an aspect from his Affinities. He chose his Beast affinity based on his concept of affinity. Then he will get to choose from five options for the quirk,( Sight, Ear, Smell, Mana, Blood). As he wanted to be a sailing hunter, he took the Sight quirk. Then the skill will make his sight more effective with the goal of the beast with the best sight to his knowledge plus a small boost to his other senses as the skill was made to enhance every sense. This skill passively enhances his sight but he wants to zoom in on his targets more, so he makes an Ability, (Eagle eyes) that zooms his sight to see far away, based on his Beast affinity and personal knowledge, then links it to his (Enhanced Senses) Skill to boost it more. After level 20 he again gets to choose an aspect to slot into the skill, but now he gets to choose from his affinities plus some other options based on what he used the skill for most. His options are (Hunter), (Blood) or (Wind).”

She told me like a teacher giving her students a lecture. Then a beeping sound started and she looked at it and said, “Sorry, it seems something urgent needs my attention. So I will have someone bring a book that will give you some basics of our System and magics.” I nod my head as I see her leave the room.

I started looking around the room to find something interesting. Then it clicked, I knew what is wrong, my emotions are muted.
