Chapter 19

[Luke POV]

It has been a month since we received the letters. The snow now covered the majority of the territory. Yet it was still warm. I added more boilers to also warm the underside of the road, and now even that was warm. This also ensures that our roads will not be covered with snow.

The magic department also found a way to light up the village. They made magical wiring that transfers mana from one place to another, it took a week but we managed to set up the infrastructure for it, and in the end, the humanity of this world, for the very first time has beaten its oldest enemy, darkness.

Since then, the village has been active even at night, a bar district even opened in the shopping district, but after some thought I made a separate district for them, I activated mana interference on the entire area so that in the event a drunk guy goes out of control they will not use magic.

The University’s Engineering Department is also making some prototypes of an early version of a train. Even I was amazed when I saw it. Thus, a new rail line that connects Roella to Neverwinter was created. They plan to test it summer next year. Good thing I planned the city expecting that technology beforehand.

Recently though a problem arose, one of the characters in the main story is in my city. Jacob was a side character they met during the Civil War arc. His sister died in the story leading to him becoming one of the best alchemists in the kingdom.

But now that kid is studying at my city’s university. Well, I’m not sure I have the right to call him that since he’s 16 and I’m 12… well anyway apparently his sister is okay and currently studying in the school too. All is well I guess. I’m sure he’ll still do well… Shit the story probably shifted…

I handed most of the village’s governance to the political department of the university to give them some experience, I’d say they’re doing quite well. Except for what they wanted to do a month ago…

“Fuck that old man! I’ll burn his house when I get back. Get Sir Ian and tell him to prepare the knights we’re attacking the Romwell territory!”

“You’re right Chairman! Disrespecting the Prince like that!”

“Oi, Econ department, tell the merchants to plunge the Kaisels into an economic crisis!”

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“Yeah!”

“STOP STOP STOP”

I had to intervene to some degree but other than that, they’re managing well. With my workload reduced I’m able to develop my magical capabilities as well as my physical.

“I need to increase my mana output.”

Ambient mana is not something I can only use, atmospheric mana is something everyone else can use but I found out that the amount I can pull is different. Sebas theorized that it’s because of my low mana capacity, I have become reliant on atmospheric mana.

“Hmm, how can I explain this, your highness…”

Sebas walked towards one of the lakes inside the village.

“All of us born with magic can manipulate this much mana around us. As you’ve theorized and that revolutionized magic. But the amount we can control is different.”

He cupped some water in his hands.

“This is what most can use. A small amount and not only that, look at how much is being wasted.”

He paused.

“But you, ever since you’re a child, you’ve been taking larger amounts and refining the bowl you used.”

He smiled.

“I believe in due time everyone else can practice that, but your highness, mana is nothing if it’s not used properly.”

He pointed at the village.

“Almost everything in this village is made from your magic Your Highness, but it’s not magic that gave us home, it’s your wisdom and will that did.”

I blushed.

Some new group joined us, they were dragonewts. They were more akin to lizards but they’re now staying at one of the lakes. They take care of fisheries as well as have taken the job of ferrying the boats on the canals.

Speaking of lakes, the dwarves are making some ships in the northern river. It can’t fit through the canals so currently, a harbour town is planned there. In the future, we can make a metropolitan area with nearby towns.

I’m kinda proud that they didn’t ask for my help when trying to make it. It’s like seeing my children grow up on their own.

I went home to enjoy my time with Cynthia and Sebas.

Recently I’ve been trying to learn how to sew, at first Cynthia and Sebas were against it but when they found out I was making it for them, they allowed me to continue.

I love them both. Sir Rogers is getting one too as for Sir Ian, not going to happen. In a lovely cold afternoon as I was drinking my milk tea while sewing some scarf for the two of them.

“Your Highness, the Marquis is currently in Roella with an army numbering 20,000.”

“Hmmm, Sebas, is this colour fine for you?”

“Your Highness, the Marquis is currently in Roella with an army numbering 20,000.”

“Any colour would be wonderful your highness.”

“Your Highness, the Marquis is currently in Roella with an army numbering 20,000.”

“I see, I’ll add a flower on the corner so it can be differentiated from the others.”

“Your Highness, the Marquis is currently in Roella with an army numbering 20,000.”

“I would love that Your Highness.”

“Your Highness, the Marquis is currently in Roella with an army numbering 20,000! They will be here in a few days!”

“Oh Hi Rowan, lovely day we're having would you like to have some tea?
