[Luke POV]
During the 2 months that have passed after Duke Kaisel have fallen ill, the west erupted into a full blown civil war.
“900 more today huh…”
“We need to expand the farm lands, the current ones are at full capacity, we are to expect a greater number of refugees in the next few days, planning now is essential.”
“But a surplus would burden the village finances.”
“Unlike you guys, our agriculture department has to plan things months beforehand. We can’t grow our crops expecting instantaneous results!”
“We should put more resources in training the guards.”
“You guys have more than enough.”
“Says the maintenance department.”
“Village head, what was the last citizen count?”
Hearing my voice everyone closed their mouths.
“9,600 you highness.”
“Then I agree with the agricultural department with that one but, it’s currently fall. Expanding right now would be useless. Finance department please begin buying as much wheat to stockpile for winter.”
“It shall be done.”
“Since we are stockpiling for winter I cannot allow the expenditure for more guards. But noticing the influx in people, I’ll allow the guards to take from my personal possession —“
If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
“Preposterous!”
“I am sorry your highness. I cannot allow you to take money from your personal vault.”
“If they can’t maintain themselves then there is no need for them.”
“Do you want to disappear tomorrow?”
Oi Sebas, Cynthia did you just threaten the heads?
“It is what it is. Do not worry everyone I commanded Rowan to buy more provisions for winter. We’ll have enough soon.”
The council meeting continued as we discussed more essential stuff.
.
.
.
I inspected the village once more. With the weather getting colder day by day, I made the decision to install heaters on each and every household.
The livestocks Rowan brought have also borne some fruits. Now we are able to manufacture milk and wool.
I added another layer of wall in the village. This layer I planned to have all the farmland be in, it is the biggest of all the layers. Now most farmers commute using the canal system instead of the carriages.
Around 50% of the population are able to read and write. Most of the old residents are highly capable now but the newer ones not so much.
I also laid the foundation for the University. Creating classrooms and other essentials. Both magic and science are taught there. While some classes teach economy and politics. I made some books about each topic, the one about medicine has been the most requested in the library.
They are not complete, just some stuff I know at the top of my head but hopefully they will figure other things out.
Oh some other minor stuff.
My village’s knights and guards have begun to use guns.
The village engineers have started manufacturing them after I left Sebas with all modern day knowledge I can remember. So even without me meddling, they made it.
Apparently the university is also making a stone substance that hardens after a period of time. Yes, concrete. While some are making magic that would purify water more efficiently.
Currently, the magic and science departments are having some sort of competition with one another.
The economy and political science department has also discovered double entry book keeping and have decided to transition to using spreadsheets instead of document format.
This village is just full of geniuses.
They seem desperate though.
So now, I get to spend my time with Sebas and Cynthia in my house.
“Peaceful…”
“Would you like more tea, your highness.”
“Yes Cynthia, thank you.”
“It’s my pleasure.”
“I love this life.”
I spent the entire day relaxing with Cynthia and Sebas. I hope this can go on forever.
