My Dungeon of Terror
10 - Banquet (2)

10 - Banquet (2)

“With the limits of the number of humans that can enter Hell also decided to eliminate all those who perform below a certain quota. This quota is how many humans your dungeon has killed.” I could hear gulps as people knew what that meant they would lose their position as Dungeon Lords and would become normal demons.

All Dungeon Lords are demons, but not all demons are Dungeon Lords.

Once a demon loses the position of dungeon lord, he can only join other dungeon lords and become their steward. Such a position is extremely humiliating for all demons.

There are ways to become a Dungeon Lord after losing it, but the price is too high for many Demons, even if they have to serve another Demon, it is much better.

I don’t know what the price is, as only those who return to hell know its price, but who cares? It’s not like my dungeon is short on people, and so many die every day that I can hardly count them.

This all feels like being at a doctor's and waiting forever for them to call you in.

Even if they release the aura, I might not be able to get up as I can’t feel my legs anymore.

Soon the young man did not say anymore, and I could not understand how he was so arrogant. You are a half-demon, half-something that I don’t care about, and I was a human in the past, yet he shows nothing even towards his subordinates. If I were him, I would have at least kicked them and made them scream so I could lift my mood, but him? Just leave like that?

No wonder half-demons aren’t accepted.

The elite demons, after the young man left, got up and looked towards us, with a wave of their hands, a handful of gates appeared behind us.

“You heard the young master, do not let his expectations down!” Said the golem as he turned and looked at us leaving.

Waiting a few seconds so I could feel my legs, I left swiftly.

Returning to my dungeon I could feel energy going through my dungeon and lifting something off.

Humans will realize there are no longer restrictions on how many people can enter the dungeons, and another wave of people will come here to kill me.

Without caring a bit, I need to create a Floor Guardian and a Floor Overseer.

What is a floor overseer? They are Floor Guardians, but my guards and helpers, like me, can evolve, and even better than Floor Guardians, there is no upper limit on how many there can be.

Of course, the downside is the enormous amount of mana needed to create one with the help of the dungeon, and after you create one, the next one will be more expensive, as the dungeon will be burdened by them more.

Just to create one Overseer, you need 5000 mana, but how do I know this? When I created the Cyclops, I attained this knowledge as if I stepped over a boundary.

Hell might have thought I reached the level of some high-level demon and granted me this knowledge accidentally.

This system most likely works on mana capacity rather than the ranks of the demons.

But first the Dungeon Floor Guardian for the Third Floor.

Let’s imagine it. Should I create one from mythology? Yeah, I can already imagine people's reaction when they face it.

Soon I channeled mana into the image as it started drawing up its form in front of me.

Three heads, one lion two dog heads with a lion body, a snake tail, and two huge wings. The whole creature was coated in golden light, and the light shone on it so it reflected a golden luster around the body.

But I felt it was majestic rather than scary as I added a new skill to make it rather scarier, and I liked this new skill as I looked over it.

It lowered its lion head as I caressed it as I saw for the first time in my monster's intelligence and not a robot-like mechanism.

Soon I instructed it to go to the third floor.

As it left, I felt alone suddenly, but it soon dissipated as the centipede reappeared!

“How are you still alive?!” I was shocked as I remembered I killed it… or not my attention was drawn away by the humans going crazy on the third floor, so it slipped away!

Holding back my urge to squash it, I turned my attention to my chamber as I needed to redesign it as I had enough mana now and time for myself.

The room changed from its cave-like appearance as daylight came from the skies and a huge empty field appeared.

I made a big mountain with a castle on top of it.

The castle, unlike in medieval times, has more modern aesthetics.

The castle walls had a very clear design of human faces in them, and as each screamed for help, I memorized the many people who died, and according to their most desperate look, I recreated them on my walls.

The gate had spikes on it, and even the touching felt uncomfortable to the person.

As I opened the gates, I was greeted by a small field that would become my garden. Every time I step outside the castle, it serves as a reminder that I must water the plants, otherwise, they will die, and only dead plants will greet me.

As I walked past the garden, soon the main building was in front of me.

Inside there are several corridors that lead me to the throne room.

Inside the throne room, there is a red carpet and statues of me in gold as I posed in all different styles.

Soon I looked at my throne, which was made out of gold and an extremely comfortable pillow, and looking at it, I saw the centipede sleeping on it.

I lost my breath seeing it here again. I forgot to remove it from my chamber! Damn it!

The centipede woke up and darted out of my room into the corridors to never be seen by me, but I followed it after as I could see everything in the dungeon.

***

After several hours of chasing the centipede, I sealed it into a jar as it could not escape.

“How does it feel to live the rest of your miserable life in this jar?” With a smiling face, I asked the centipede in the jar as it looked at me blankly and started sleeping, ignoring my taunt.

Losing interest in it.

I started thinking I needed overseers for me.

Or should I wait until I create the new floor? I could only wait until what the humans do, as having another floor can greatly slow them down, or just an overseer who can fight instead of me?

Another floor is better as I can make creatures in it hide somewhere and create a floor guardian who is good at hiding so they can suffer from finding it.

But now I am the one feeling fear towards others, and this left a bad taste in my mouth.

I shouldn’t be scared by the likes of them and should rather face them head-on.

Looking at my terror points slowly climbing up to 2700, I knew I was close, as I needed 4000 terror points for my next evolution and then 8000, as I can see the system double it every time I evolve.

But I was curious if this evolution would be the same as the others with only me gaining strength or if there would be a difference.

Smiling at myself in the mirror as I wore all kinds of different clothes, I also watched the adventurers fighting against the monster and more and more of them coming inside.

Thankfully, all they were interested in was the Third Floor, and no one was brave enough to challenge the Floor Guardian.

Even though the limit is removed, they might be planning to launch a large-scale attack, as some people descended to my chamber to make sure there is no Fourth Floor, so I know their attack will soon commence.

I can hope other dungeons will take away enough attention from me so I can evolve quietly, as evolution no longer works the same as before.

Now you need at least 1 Guardian to be alive to evolve, and for the poor people who don’t have any, they need to make sure there is no human on the last floor.

This kills many new Dungeon Lords in the bud, as these criteria are harsh, and for newborn Dungeons that only have one floor, they need to make sure there are more monsters on the floor than adventurers to evolve.

I don’t get why they want to corrupt this world so much, or do they want to give up this world this way? After all, they did not retreat but were defeated.

Not caring what games they were playing, as I only had myself in my eyes and not the demons.

What is the meaning of life if there is nothing fun in it? All gray and depression can drive any sane person crazy.

Think about not killing other people and seeing them being happy, who can stand that?!

As I fought with myself, time passed by slowly, and soon my terror points reached 4000.

At the same time, a large number of people came into the dungeon.

I can see around 200 people at once, and more might be coming in. However, having too many people can be a hindrance because individual movement becomes restricted. This can lead to a situation where, if a retreat is necessary, many people on the front lines could be at risk of dying.

Soon they cleared all the monsters on the First Floor, and Arozen appeared and started a fight. It did not last long as Arozen was defeated with the mages bombarding it with spells constantly and not giving it any time at all.

I could only look forward to Anansi's fight, as this will be interesting.

They were prepared as they bought many priests with cleanse spells learned.

Soon they got rid of all the monsters on the floor, but it did not go as smoothly as last time, as at least one-third of them died, as someone always got infected and was not spotted in time, and chaos broke out in their ranks as they fought against another monster.

Soon it was time for Anansi.

At first, the people had the upper hand as they fought against Anansi, but her skill let her infect more and more people, which resulted in her stats skyrocketing and her being able to ignore the spell entirely and no one being able to damage her, which resulted in a total annihilation.

Looking at it, I can already see how many people will die and how broken she is.

The way to overwhelm her is not the way until the level difference is big enough, but the level cap is only 20. A person can only have a hundred free stat points he can distribute across all of his stats.

I left my restroom and entered my throne room as I felt Anansi giving me a big number of terror points as she played with the last survivors.

She did not kill them but slowly drove them insane as it led the infested to slowly wear them down. They were forced to fight against their teammates.

No one escaped, and everyone was killed, and the floor had enough monsters to guard it.

Soon Arozen respawned as the challengers died, but the monsters on the floor slowly appeared as I helped in their resurrection.

With a little time, everything turned back to normal as if this whole raid did not happen.

With the show over, I started planning the next floor theme and monsters in it, in my head, once I reached 4000 terror points, but I was extremely close thanks to Anansi helping me out with close to 600 terror points.

I have close to 3600 Terror points now, and it is climbing upwards slowly.
