Misen and Frey are walking around Stellarina in order to locate Voulin. Though they really aren’t in a rush as they make a casual stop for some sweets. While they were eating the sweets, Misen spots Voulin. Voulin looks back at her with a smile from outside of the cafe.
“I swear it’s like he has a sixth sense.” Misen sighed, then gave a little wave. Voulin then entered the cafe and walked over to their booth.
“Hello ladies, did you need something?” Voulin says in a gentlemanly tone.
“Go back to your normal tone, and yes I was wondering if you would like to accompany us? Wherever Frey’s journey takes us?” Misen replies, shaking her head at his initial tone.
“Of course I’ll journey with you two. You two are both quite interesting after all.” Voulin replies, muttering the last bit.
“You’re a strange man, but having a veteran mercenary and your information would be nice.” Frey sighs, she recognized how useful he would be. “Meeting you two must have been part of Sherasil’s plan. This journey of mine shall continue to be an interesting one.”
“All we need is a mage, then we will have a by the books party.” Voulin comments.
“Well to celebrate this party’s formation let’s drink.” Misen said with a big smile.
“Is the only thing on your mind booze?” Frey chuckled.
“An immortal has to have something to enjoy. And kill the sorrows.” Misen happily said, and muttered the last part.
“Well then, I guess we will hit the tavern tonight and then in a week's time we’ll head out.” Frey stated. Misen continued to be with Frey while Voulin wandered away. “You know, while I appreciate the protection. You don’t need to keep following me. I doubt it’s gonna happen again.” Frey looked over at Misen.
“You’re right I should probably finish whatever business I had here before leaving. Stay safe.” Misen says as she leaves and heads towards the knights headquarters. The building is like a fancy version of the adventurer’s guild building but way smaller. It is paid and run by the lords of Stellarina. Misen makes her way inside the building. “Yo.” Misen says, as she enters the building. She immediately makes eye contact with Lieval.
“It’s you, what do you need?” Lieval said, a bit nervous as she came unannounced.
“In a week’s time, I’ll be out of your hair. Though I thought knights were supposed to protect the civilians in Stellarina. You all did a shit job at doing anything regarding Frey’s kidnapping. It wasn’t completely dark out, yet the kidnapper got to continue uncontested. Well, what did I expect from the lords’ dogs.” Misen remarked, shaking her head in disapproval. “Well, I took care of it so all's well that ends well right? I let out grievances, so goodbye sir Lieval Calin.” Misen left.
“Are you just going to take that captain? The woman just disrespected the entire knight's order.” One of the young rookies calls out.
“Enough, she’s right we didn’t do anything to help this Frey. Even if we were to start a fight the likelihood of us winning isn’t very high.” Lieval silenced the rookie, he sighed.
“She never had her hands near her sword once during that entire interaction. It was either a sign of complete confidence or arrogance. However, like you said she was right we were incompetent. In order to make sure such disrespect doesn’t happen again we’ll have to work harder and train harder as knights.” The vice captain said.
“We can’t let anyone else make a fool of us! We’ll be the best knights on the continent!” The knights began to feel motivated and filled with vigor. All except the one rookie who was still mad how that random person disrespected the captain. The rookie ran out in order to find Misen.
“Teddy, what are you doing?” Lieval said.
However, Misen was just waiting by the front of the building.
“So only one huh, of course it would be the prideful rookie.” Misen chuckled. “What do you need? Mister rookie.” Misen asked in a sarcastic tone.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“I, Teddy Lienshal, challenge you to a duel.” The rookie shouts at Misen.
“Sure, but don’t go crying after you lose.” Misen said, with complete confidence. He has a decent build, but to fall for such an easy goad tactic is laughable. Guess he is still a rookie after all. Misen looks over the boy.
Teddy readies his weapon which is a halberd. Misen just readies her fists and Teddy rushes in. Teddy attempts to stab but he is too close. She easily dodges.
What an idiot. Misen thinks as she grabs ahold of the halberd and pulls him close so she can get a solid 1-2 punch in. Teddy looks surprised by how hard Misen is hitting him. A small crowd forms around the two. Misen is effortlessly weaving around the telegraphed strikes from Teddy. She grabs his weapon once again to the frustration of Teddy. However, this time she takes it and starts using the bottom to repeatedly poke Teddy in the stomach, chest, and face. She ends the flurry of attacks with a shot to the chin which knocks Teddy out cold.
“Well, you’re still a rookie.” Misen yawned. She stabbed the halberd into the ground next to him. The knights went to wake him back up and heal him. “He wanted the duel, I only obliged. Don’t worry I held back there won’t be any permanent damage. Except maybe his pride. Go train your knights better, captain Calin.” Misen sighed. The knights had watched, but not interfered.
“I’m sorry for the trouble Teddy caused. Thanks to you I’m planning on changing the way we do things at the knight's order. Though I am surprised that you never drew your sword once, instead you mostly stuck to hand to hand combat while he used his halberd.” Lieval explained, a little curious.
“Good for you. To answer your question, had I used my sword, the duel would’ve ended too quickly. I wanted to enjoy the fight a little. Though I’m disappointed by how obvious and easy to beat he was.” Misen answered Lieval’s question. She gave a disappointed sigh at the end. “I’m going to go kill some more time then it’ll be time to drink.” Misen said, as she walked away. Misen wandered throughout the city.
It’s interesting seeing zero god worshippers. Nor any depictions of religion. It’s a city built upon human effort and might it’s pretty impressive. I wonder where Frey’s journey will take us. Misen really appreciated the city’s aesthetics as she wandered around. She took in all the beautiful sights, the mix of engineering and basic magic was a wonder to behold.
“It’s time to go drinking, and eat too.” She happily says. She makes her way to the tavern where Voulin was initially going to treat her. Inside she spots Voulin and Frey together talking. She walks up to their table and sits in an open seat.
“Ah, you’re here Misen.” Frey said.
“We were worried you may have gotten kidnapped.” Voulin laughed.
“As if, now let’s get food and drinks.” Misen happily shouts. The trio places their orders on the food and drinks they want. They are having a great time laughing and drinking, when Misen spots a familiar face in the tavern.
“Looks like the guy I beat up after registering as an adventurer fixed up his attitude. He looks to be on a date and both seem to be having a good time. Good for them, I’ll drink to that.” Misen happily said, as she drank more.
“You just wanted an excuse to drink more.” Laughed Frey, as she drank.
“People are quite interesting aren’t they.” Voulin comments, as he drinks.
“In about a week we’ll all head out from Stellarina, we’ll probably see many different things while on our journey.” Misen comments, while she drinks. A fourth person sits down at their table. Looks to be around his 20s, has long dark green hair, and light purple eyes. He is wearing a mage attire.
“I heard you all are planning on leaving. Would you mind if I joined you?” The man asked.
“It’s up to Frey.” Misen replied.
“A mage would be helpful, what tier mage would you happen to be?” Frey asked.
“I’m a gold tier.” He replied, showing his ID plate. The plate was mostly made of gold.
“It looks legit.” Voulin said as he inspected it. “Now why would a gold tier mage, be trying to join us. You should have plenty of options.” Voulin continued.
“Do you fancy Frey?” Misen sarcastically asked. Which made both Frey and the mage flustered.
“N-no, it’s because you all seem like trustworthy people.” The mage said, trying to hide his embarrassment.
“They both got flustered.” Whispered Voulin and Misen.
“Well if Frey has no issues with it, then I’ve got none.” Misen said.
“Same here.” Voulin agreed.
“A mage would be helpful, sure. What’s your name?” Frey asked.
“It’s Raffeel, Miss Frey.” Raffeel replied.
“No need for formalities, just call me Frey.” She smiled.
“Just call me Voulin.” Voulin said.
“And just call me Misen.” Misen said. “To celebrate the formation of our complete party, let’s drink.” She shouts. Everyone raises a drink in the air.
“To us.” As they clink their drinks together.
