Misen: the cursed immortal blade
Chapter 2: Unwanted Revival

Chapter 2: Unwanted Revival

“Must kill.. Kill.. more blood.”

“Argh my head, are those urges caused by the blade?” It’s giving me a headache. “Screw this! if you want blood then have mine” Misen says as she attempts to stab herself. However, her wound instantly heals.

“What’s going on? Let me die! Damnit!” She repeatedly stabs herself to no avail. Eventually she gives up and relents. “I guess you really don’t want me dying yet, you bloodthirsty blade.” “Daamnit, what do I do now hahaha.” She laughs, unable to accept the reality of the situation.

“What if I just ignore the urges?” She says not wanting to let the blade control her. She spots a deer passing by and her body automatically moves without realizing and kills it instantly. By piercing right into the heart then draining all of the blood. A wave of happiness and satisfaction follows as she kills it. “So I guess I can’t ignore them.” She curses.

The process of killing any animal or monster that stumbles onto her path continues for a bit till the urges subside. “Fuck, I didn’t ask to become a blood thirsty killer after killing the owner of this blade. That asshole even said not to follow his path, but now his sword is forcing me.” She complains as she begins feeling changes in her body due to the increased blood flow and whatever else the blade is doing to her body. Her skin became much smoother.

“Did this blade turn me into a vampire? I’ll find out in the morning if I survive or not. I hope I turn to ash though.” She travels around just wondering while looking at the night sky. It was quiet. She looks behind and sees a trail of dried corpses that lay in her path. She sees the Sun begin to rise. She begins hoping in her mind that she turns to dust.

Unfortunately, her wishes for death are not granted as she was completely unaffected by the Sun. Maybe I can head into town and consume some poison to destroy my body. Although, it could easily turn south if my urges for blood go out of control forcing me on a rampage to replenish the blood loss to the poison. She ponders. “I’ll drink the poison somewhere unpopulated so I don’t risk the chance of killing another human.” She says affirming her plan of action.

As Misen heads for a closeby city. “Interesting, a new type of immortal that is immune to the sun. Even if she didn’t have blood her body did not stop regenerating at an incredible rate. I'll be keeping an eye on her.” A mysterious figure mutters, as they stand on a high up tree branch while watching Misen.

“Lets see according to my map there should be a nation this way.” Misen then begins to lightly sprint. However, she is far faster than she expected.

My speed and strength have definitely increased, so traveling has been much quicker. I wonder if I’m even human anymore. She wondered. I believe I’ll arrive sooner than I thought. Breezing through all this landscape should serve to be a nice final memory. While traveling she gets attacked by monsters but swiftly deals with them then using a stab she drains their blood. She spots the road of stone which is the main road to her destination. “Finally, I’ll get to have a more leisure travel experience and I won’t have to worry about monsters due to the monster warding underneath the road.”

Eventually, she spots the entrance to her destination. It’s the desert nation of Airere. A wealthy neutral trade nation. Where many travelers head to when purchasing supplies for journeys. It also has a black market where you have to have a password and enter through a secret entrance. Misen knew someone so she knew a password to enter. Although this will be her first time actually going in there.

It is said to have anything one could desire given one has the coin. So surely I could either find a poison strong enough that the regenerative abilities can’t counteract it or someone that can unbind me from this sword. I’ll head to the market at night when most of the sellers are there to have a greater chance of finding what I need.

For now Misen decides to get some food. I might possibly be immortal and want to die but I don’t want to die while starving. In addition, I don’t know what my body will do if it becomes starved.

She heads into a tavern. As she makes her way to the counter she orders a local style sandwich as well as some whiskey. While sitting at her table a person with a cloak and a decent sized bag on her back sits across from her.

“Hello, sorry if this is strange, but you have this interesting air around you so I decided to approach you. If you keep a conversation going with me then the rest of your drinks will be on me.” The strange woman stated. The woman let down her hood and looked to be around her 20s with medium length brown hair tied in a ponytail. Her amber colored eyes being her only striking physical feature.

“Well, I can’t refuse free booze when it’s offered. Fine I’ll talk, so what did you wish to talk about?” Misen responded.

“Free booze is best booze after all. Well first of all that sword it’s quite unusual to see that type of sword that long. I have a good eye so it looks to be around 3 feet. Oh wait, no wrong unit system it’s 3 Boowin and around 7 booez.”

“Well this sword was actually a little smaller before it got into my hands. However, due to reasons I'm not sure about, it seemed to change alongside with my body.” “Also before we continue. You’ve yet to introduce yourself. My name is Misen. What about yours?” Asked Misen.

“Oh, you’re totally right it completely slipped my mind haha. Well, my name is Vel and I am a traveler.” She laughed, as she took another swig of her booze.

After talking for a bit and drinking more. “So, Vel, where did you come from? I'm from the island nation of Kajne.”

“Well you see Misen of Kajne, I’m actually a dimensional traveler so my birthplace isn’t even in the same dimension haha. So it doesn’t really matter where I’m from, as to you it might as well not exist haha.” Vel laughed.

“Are you already drunk? I don’t think you had too many, but it’s kinda hard to tell since you keep just getting your glass refilled. I would say dimension travel is impossible, but the world is a strange place and specialized magic already exists. So dimensional and multiversal travel wouldn’t be completely out of the question.”

“Yeah! yeah! you get it haha this world is quite interesting.” Vel laughed, and at this point she was hammered.

Misen got up to go pay and Vel followed behind her and as promised paid for all the alcohol. They walked out together and before heading their separate ways. “Say Misen, what do you think of this world?” Vel questioned Misen.

“I think the world is fine.” She plainly responded.

“You say that, though you seem in quite a hurry to leave. However, it’s not really my place to interfere, it's your life after all.” Her words seemed to pierce right through Misen’s happy front.

“Well you are correct, I do not wish to be alive. I’ve already lost my purpose and my family. Especially not as. How’d you know though?” Misen asked Vel.

“I’ve met many people in my travels, so I’ve gotten pretty good at reading people. I would assume there are some special circumstances why you are alive right now, and that sword isn’t lodged through your heart. You mentioned your body changed after all.” The seemingly drunk Vel pointed out.

“I’ll just show you, as I’m not entirely sure how or why.” Misen said as she raised the sword up from its sheath enough that the blade was exposed. Then she slices her finger only for it to regenerate instantly and the blood on the blade to be absorbed.

“So a healing factor and that blade has a taste for blood, how interesting. Well, I’ll see you around, Misen the immortal. You made for a great drinking buddy. I’ll treat you to some from my personal collection next time.” Vel said as she opened a portal and went through and it disappeared as soon as she was gone.

Was Vel really as drunk as she made it seem? Despite her seemingly normal looking appearance she was quite an odd woman. Misen went into an inn, bought a room, and collapsed onto the bed until evening.

Night fell as she slept at the inn. After getting up she grabbed her gear and returned her room key.

She heads to a specific alleyway in the middle is a door to a bathroom upon entering there are two paths. However, what common folk don’t know is there is a third. Which can be accessed if you pull this brick right here.

Suddenly, a stairwell reveals itself. Misen walks down and is greeted by a metal door. She knocks twice. A slit which meets her eyes opens and the person on the other side asks a question “what’s the password?”

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

She replies with “Emerald tail.”

“Ah so you are a friend of Sasha. Come in, I welcome you to the black market.”

In this black market there are several passwords and entrances. Which password and entrance you know depends on who you know. A person can get their own password after buying enough from the black market or gaining the respect and trust of one of the organizers.

Despite the entrance seeming very small and narrow once inside, the market place is quite spacious. Like a whole other city beneath the city. The first thing on Misen’s list is to look for something to unbind her from the curse of the blade. As she walked she read the signs located in front of each stall. Till she spots a very ominous stall that has this odd aura to it. Seems like the right place. She thinks as she enters pushing the cloth to the side.

“Oh ho ho. It seems like someone with quite the powerful curse has come in.” states a little old lady sitting on the far end of a little table. The little old lady has pale skin and gray hair tied in a bun. Unlike on the surface, seeing a non-local here is quite rare. Most of the locals have darker skin so me and this old lady stick out here. “Most people who come to visit aren’t actually cursed, however the world runs on money so I can’t turn them away haha.” She laughed, as she invited Misen over.

She seems pretty honest so she must be the real deal. “I was wondering if you could maybe unbind me from this blade?” asked Misen.

“Well, I’ll see what I can do.” the lady states as she begins to chant an old incantation. While holding onto Misen’s hand.

Everything feels fine at first, just a tingling sensation. However, after a couple moments it became a burning sensation unlike anything Misen has ever experienced. It was like her entire body was on fire beneath her skin. She begins to feel very woozy and her vision begins to blur. It’ll be over soon, she believed. Unfortunately.. She came back to reality.

“Oh dear, it seems while I was attempting to unbind the blade, it seems to have responded by aggressively fusing with your soul even more.”

“In addition, it also has developed a resistance to my magic. How tenacious this one is. Might I ask how you ended up with this?” the lady asked.

“Well, I killed the one who murdered my family with their own blade, and after I had finally completed my life’s mission with nothing left in this world. I took to committing suicide. However, after I had killed myself with this blade. I was alive once again and with a healing factor and because I lost a lot of blood from dying. I went into a frenzied like state killing every creature in sight, till I replenish my blood.”

“It seems dear, that the anger of those killed with this blade have manifested into a new being which has given you a new life and cursed you with immortality to use as their plaything. Just who’d this blade originally belong to. To have so much malice it would have to be one who has ended countless lives. They say that those too angry to die can survive. Although this is the first time I’ve seen malice keep someone else alive.”

“From what I heard it was the one known as the life revoker.”

“Oh you poor child, if you are serious. I fear that you may see many nations fall and new ones take their place. Generations of my family and your friends will pass before you can even think of the possibility of death.” “Take this sign ring free of charge, show this to any member of my family and they should know to help you. I hope that they will be of use to you and I hope you help them as well if possible.”

“Perhaps if you can quell the rage of those that lost their life to that blade you may be able to rest. Before you go, can you sign this to document this fateful meeting.” The lady pulls a piece of paper out with her signature and a drawing of a family crest.

Misen signs her name next to the lady’s name on the sheet “I hope to see you again after I’ve traveled more. I'll tell you about my journey.”

“I shall look forward to it. May the Hawkhand family serve you well. Also do not worry about payment as I couldn’t actually help you. Establishing a relationship seems more beneficial for everyone involved.” The lady responded.

She wasn’t wrong, having a connection with this family might end up useful down the line. They are notable enough to have a decent spot in the black market afterall. Misen puts on the ring and it merges into Misen’s skin. Misen still feels it there and it Manifests the family crest when she focuses on it.

Misen exits the booth and goes to see what else she could find here. Walking around the black market, they truly have everything you could want from stolen secret documents, experimental alchemic cloning, to untested, potentially unsafe equipment. It also has poison, ones that will completely eliminate the target that can’t be sold anywhere else. Since I couldn’t be unbound from this sword might as well try and render my body useless so it leaves me of its own accord. Or maybe if I have no blood in my body and my body is destroyed completely then maybe I won’t regenerate.

After some searching she found a highly suspicious looking booth which is a good sign. Well, to call it a booth is a bit of an overstatement considering it’s just a mysterious cloaked individual on a blanket with some bottles on display.

“Hello, I would like to know if you have any strong poison.” Misen asks the cloaked seller.

“Well if that’s what you’ve come looking for then you have come to the right place. How strong are you looking for? Do you need to kill a warrior or perhaps you are looking for something to kill a god.” The suspicious person replied.

“Give me the strongest poison, you got something that can completely destroy a strong body.”

“Hmm let’s see, how about this one. It’s meant to kill and get rid of the body even on the toughest of targets even if they have a healing factor.”

“Perfect, I’ll take it.” Misen smiles.

“I know it’s really not my place to pry but who is this for? Some famous warrior or adventurer? I am quite curious as this is my strongest poison.”

Misen hands the man 10 gold coins, and while leaving tells him. “It’s for me.” with a smile. “I’ll let you know if it worked or not.”

The seller looked confused but he got paid so he is happy. Misen exits the market place and heads for a remote location in the desert.

This should be far enough from civilization. “Time to drink. Bottom’s up!” Misen undos the cork of the glass bottle and chugs the poison in one go. Immediately after consuming the final drop of poison, Misen began coughing violently. “Gods, this is painful.” The poison tore through Misen’s body. Like countless knives. The feeling from the unbinding attempt was nothing compared to the excruciating pain she was in. She vomited blood due to her internal organs melting, but she kept regenerating, and burning away flesh and blood. Every time her skin would burn open she would lose more and more blood. As Misen blood spilled out a pool of fresh blood began to form around her. After around 1 minute had passed the poison activated a second effect to destroy the body. Misen’s body completely disintegrated with only her sword and clothes left behind. The poison did exactly as advertised.

However, despite not a drop of blood connected to her left, Misen was still bound to this world because of the sword. After the poison had run its course Misen began regenerating into her clothes where she was before. The pool of blood remained untouched and it wasn't returning to her.

Misen’s blood reserves had emptied. Once again she lost all semblance of her human sanity. Misen had become a blood craving beast. Although she had not fully lost her sense of self, she had her human morals muted as well as any pain receptors. Unlike before she remained aware as her soul was more connected to that of the blade’s compared to before. Oddly, despite her blood craving state she did not attempt to absorb her own pool of blood.

Misen, after fully regenerating her flesh, organs, and skin. She was breathing heavily uncontrolled breaths. Hordes of monsters attracted by the overwhelming sweet scent of human blood came to hunt the delicious smelling prey. The monsters however, were met with a human that began killing any creature that got close; as opposed to the bleeding out nearly dead prey they were expecting.

One of the monsters attracted by the smell of fresh blood shook the ground every time it moved. The monster was a massive leech about half as tall as the height of a fully grown tree. Leeches this massive were said to only exist in myth as they never left their homes. However, the overwhelming aroma of the massive pools of blood had attracted this mythical beast.

The leech opened its massive mouth revealing many layers of teeth. Despite its size the leech was quite fast as it lunged towards Misen standing in her pool of blood.

Misen bent her knees as she prepared a crude stance holding her blade far behind her and leaned back. Once the leech got close enough, Misen cracked a smirk as she slashed in an arc so fast that it made the wind move in the direction of her slash. The wind increased the range of her attack more than ten-fold. The leech was vertically cleaved in half as it could not stop itself once it had lunged forward.

Misen’s arms were wrecked by the force of the slash as it was well beyond normal human strength. However, her arms quickly restored themselves.

The more intelligent monsters immediately attempted to flee from this thing. That had slayed this massive mythical creature instantly. While many monsters could not resist the instinct to hunt due to the smell of blood. Those monsters foolishly went to attack the source of the blood only to be sliced apart.

The hordes of monsters had been reduced to mountains of corpses. Misen began to drain the corpses of their blood using her blade.

The horrendous stench from the corpses was carried by the wind, leading a group of knights to investigate the source only to find a swordswoman passed out with drained monster corpses surrounding her.

The knights were both impressed as well as fearful due to the fact that there were so many corpses and even the corpse of a giant leech cleaved in two.

“Captain, who is this woman?” One of the knights asked.

“There doesn’t seem to be any identification on her. She seems to be a traveling swordswoman.” “What in the world is this? It’s everywhere.” One of the knights noticed the blood.

“It looks like human blood but she has no wounds and the amount of blood is far beyond the normal amount possible even if someone were to bleed out.” A knight stated.

“To be capable of doing all of this without a single scratch, is astonishing. However, we must verify whether she is friend or foe as she doesn’t have any identification.” “Men! We are going to bring this woman with us!” Ordered the captain of the knights.

Two knights carried Misen into their wagon along with her stuff. “Men, we shall make way for Stellarina!” The captain ordered as the wagon began moving. Misen unknowingly began to move away from where she was. She was blissfully unaware of what was happening.

Stellarina is a unique nation as they worship the stars rather than the gods. Due to the fact they do not rely on the gods it has become a hot spot for those wishing to prove their strength. While the knights had taken Misen, someone who had seen Misen destroy the monsters grabbed the empty bottle leftover from the poison and collected some of Misen’s blood and disappeared.
