True Start

[The 1 month grace period has come to pass, this realm is now free for the taking for any ruling power that desires it.]

There it was, two days after Travis summoned his 5th recruit, hundreds of portals began to appear all over the sky and the ground.

"Noah, what do you see?" It was a message from Travis, asking his newest recruit about the situation.

In a room at the mansion that Travis resided in, a middle-aged man can be seen with multiple LED screens. With each screen showing a different area of the city.

"Mostly lower grades, my lord. Though the eastern streets and the southern ones seem to have hundreds of soldiers." Noah's combat rating was only at the Elite Bronze-Grade, but his main abilities lie in technomancy. The ability to manipulate tech that he has bonded with through magic. "Ahagins from the south, their heavy-hitters have arrived. Most of which are currently in combat against the newer visitors."

"The eastern streets are currently littered with troops from a human race, their clothing reminds me of the Murim. I can say that at least a dozen of them are at the Elite Silver-grade. Their techniques also remind me of Miss Yeram and your purple internal energy."

Travis looked at his chat tab a few more times as he read through the messages from Noah. Ara and Mira were hard at work in clearing the area that he took claim to. Next to him were Vantak and Yeram both waiting for his orders. "Vantak, I'll be needing you to keep our base in tact. You're free to command Ara as well, all that matters right now is for us to secure our foothold."

"At least that's what I'd like to say, everyone else aside from Yeram our main goal is to defend our camp. Yeram, make contact with the folks in the eastern streets. Visitors from a Murim realm, a dozen at the Silver-grade. I want information, if things go south don't be afraid to retreat."

With their orders now set, Travis took out his sword as he walked towards the entrance of the park.

Rank: 10,232

He was still short of reaching the top 10,000. His sword buzzed with the sound of lightning.

Bzzzttt.

Merit points from those killed by allies only gives their Master half, where as kills that he achieved on his own were given in full. He was still far weaker than most of his companions but in the last few weeks the training he was provided by Yeram along with the top 15,000 reward of 10 more internal energy pills and a book. Travis reached the Elite Bronze-grade without much trouble. With ten pills and the advise of someone like Yeram, a single pill now gave him a boost of 600 internal energy. With ten new pills all together 6,000 internal energy entered his body just a few days before he summoned his 5th companion.

Title: Top Ranker (Local rank: 10,232)

Combat Rating: [Elite Bronze-Grade]

Name: Travis Montes

Mana: 300/300

Internal Energy: 14,700/14,700

Innate Ability: Claws

God's gift: Mercenary Recruitment

He pierced through the head of a lizardman that was comparable in size to a commander. Combat rating counts one's internal energy levels, innate ability and the gift. Treating his summons as separate entities, his combat rating can also be said to be inaccurate due to the book that he used. Simply put, the techniques are expensive to use because they are just that potent.

The techniques that he uses are meant to be used by someone in the Gold-grade, the first thing that Yeram hammered in his head was the fact that he needed a basic martial arts book, to which he finally listened. He now practices the Plum-Blossom sects basic sword art, the Plum Blossom Blade a book taught to everyone that enters from the sect.

Travis now fought with a mix of techniques from the two books that he learned from only using the Thundercloud Sword techniques on heavily armored or more powerful opponents. His growth was astronomical even for someone who just consumed pills and learned his techniques through powerful items.

Travis has always had the knack for hand to hand combat, it was just a talent that was untapped due to his aversion for conflict. He had to keep himself out of harm because an injured worker is an incapable one, the last thing he wanted was to not get his pay for the day.

Bzzzztt.

Travis danced across the battlefield, backed up by both the undead and Mira. For every foe that they took down, a new monster would join their ranks. Vantak would raise them from the dead and bolster their forces. The abomination, Ara also had its fill as she devoured every large foe that stood in her way.

[You have reached the top 10,000 rewards are now present in the Rank tab.]

"VANTAK!!!" Travis shouted with all his might. It was the sign for Vantak to send a larger amount of troops to shield his master. "Mira and I will be heading back inside, clean up this place. Send me a message if anything pops up, I'll call Yeram if we have to."

The mansion was well-guarded, the zombified corpses of the largest Lizardmen and Ahagin were deployed here.

"My lord!" Noah greeted him with a bow before leading him to the room filled with screens.

"Report."

"The Ahagins are clearing through their opposition, I'm afraid that they're headed straight for our location." Noah began. "Miss Yeram has also made contact with the humans from a Murim realm."

"The Ahagins are fast approaching and I fear that they will soon reach our location. I don't think we can deal with that many Silver-grades, my Lord."

"We will run if we have to but for now I think that the defenses will hold, I'll order Yeram to return soon." Travis had a more important matter to attend to, he was just about to receive the rewards for the top 10,000.
