Friendly Spar

Will's reason for the spar wasn't hostile in the slightest. He knew that the Necromancer did what it had to do, he didn't discriminate between the locals or other invaders. He was merely an existence that was used to the new era. All he wanted to do was to get rid of the fear that he felt when he was forced to flee.

Fighting the entity that caused his drastic change in principle would help him grow. Win or lose, steeling himself for the task Will hasn't been able to sleep at all.

Their fighting grounds would be on an open field near the island's forest. With the spectacle of two Elite Silver-grades fighting head to head, all of the visiting forces and most of the guards that Travis stationed in the island were present to watch.

Snacks were prepared as well as a hearty breakfast for the guests. It looked more like a camping trip among friends than an actual training grounds due to the food and the safe environment. An ambiance that a lot of the local humans missed from the days before the new era.

"I'm sure you know that the power of a necromancer is heavily dependent on their undead." Travis began, he was actually a bit excited for what he was about to watch. "Vantak will be allowed the usage of only 1000 of his current troops. The rest will remain with their duties. I hope you understand, the undead is what's keeping this place running."

"The rules are simple, the first to yield or be knocked out will be the loser and both sides are allowed to use everything in their arsenal. The large open field should be enough for the both of you, Good luck!" The demon, Gitax was the overseer of the fight.

A blue bubble, a barrier was erected to keep the two of them within the area and to keep everyone else safe. This barrier was created by Daban, the elf mage it was the sort of magic that the spellcasters under the Strong-armed king were looking for. A few of them would approach Daban after the fight.

Will cracked his neck.

[Battering Blows] and [Resounding Shockwaves] these two abilities let him reach the top 400,000 all on his own, added to them were the physical abilities handed to him by the Red-eyed king. Will was the closest thing to a Gold-grade among the troops sent to the territory of one Travis Montes. Resounding shockwaves lets him release miniature shockwaves into opponents that he has hit, while Battering blows increased the power of each hit that he sends out to his opponents. Battering blows stacks up to 5 but even just the 2x multiplier is devastating due to the martial arts that he has learned.

He was sweeping through the undead soldiers left and right, his battering blows was now at its maximum stack and a single internal energy infused punch would blow away close to ten of them at a time.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

But for every one that he did destroy, Vantak responded by detonating their corpse. [Corpse Explosion] a standard spell among necromancers. The air in the dome became harder to breathe in, turning into a murky green color. The green toxic mist was only toxic for the living, the undead were unaffected they were in Vantak's playground and everyone was aware of this.

It was a battle of attrition. One that only William was going through while the necromancer simply floated around, observing his struggle.

'I need to... I need to end it in just one blow.' The red eyes that his benefactor gave him, not only enhanced his physique but it also gave him eyes that can see the source of mana. Despite being overwhelmed by horde of undead and the added tax of having no oxygen, William stood his ground.

Dashing through the undead, William sent out blows that decimated his foes. He was clearing his way, to prepare a move that would let him close the gap. The Martial book that he learned from gave him a movement based technique. The tiger's leap.

With a balled fist, empowered by internal energy and the battering blows. A single hit to the head could kill even the toughest of foes and even if they could resist it, the resounding shockwaves that his innate ability gave him would force brain damage on the strongest of skulls.

While the jump itself didn't let him reach the elf's head, he did manage to aim the punch straight for the torso. Upon feeling a tense surface a smiled encompassed his face. 'I got him!'

A puff of green smoke. From behind him the necromancer looked on with boredom. Vantak was used to fighting martial artists, he has lived for hundreds of years. Staying at Silver-grade for a total of 50 years, for most humans that's almost a lifetime. Vantak had a fail-safe for the young man's desperate attempts.

He burnt out most of his internal energy in that last burst. Which made the next few minutes hellish, a struggle for survival. Will stood, fighting till his internal energy ran dry. He fought even after the fact, he didn't yield at all. He kept his pride and passed out while standing.

"Master! I will take care of our guest!" Daban flew towards the heavily injured Will and began to cast healing magic. Healing magic is not a gift that can be learned by just anyone, a special disposition for it is required. This same rule applies for necromancy as well, though healers are far more common even outside of the priests that served the light gods.

Travis let out a burp as he finished his second can of Fanta. "Great job everyone, It'll likely take a while for William to heal so I will be sending everyone out tomorrow morning instead. Please prepare yourselves, the monsters in Lindburg City are quite powerful. If you need anything just ask the undead in the area!"

[Due to your title, the recruit Vantak has grown immensely. Breaching through the Elite Silver-grade is now possible, please click to confirm.]

This notification message has been glaring at Travis since Vantak arrived the night before, but he purposefully ignored it to give respect to William. "Vantak follow me to the Strengthening tower."

[Your master has given you the privilege to get stronger, Congratulations! You have reached the Basic Gold-grade.]

At the rate that Vantak was growing, he expected to reach the Gold-grade in four or five more decades. The boon that his master gifted to him was unexpected, one that made Vantak prostrate himself to the ground. Vantak was shaking, if he saw his master as some sort of saint before then one could only imagine the thoughts that were swirling in his head now.

'Indeed, making that contract permanent was one of the best decisions I've made in my life.'
