"In renewable contracts, it says that they have to like me for them to stick around, meaning that the last option might be the strongest one but the fact that I have to convince them to stay will be a problem." Travis was not too confident about his people pleasing skills. An introvert that can normally only speak openly to those that he is close to. "From context clues in their descriptions, I think that the second option comes from an area with a decent level of technology."
A place that Travis assumes to either be better or at least close to what he's used to. "All of them have a better combat rating than me anyways, I can go for a better companion later. What matters now is that there's someone that can join me permanently. Someone that can teach me about guns and a bit of magic doesn't sound too bad."
[Mira has been recruited.]
A bright light encompassed his tiny apartment. Soon enough a woman appeared, she kneeled on the wooden floor. Black spandex, that was what her suit reminded him of. She looks to be in her late 20s, on her back was a Bo staff and he could see a pistol slung onto her left waist. 'I was right to go with this one.' He thought to himself.
"Mira, Infantry from the 15th regiment of Terra. Here to serve you, Master Travis." She bowed. Her blonde hair was tight in a pony tail and her green eyes wandered, she deliberately chose not to make eye contact.
"I'd like to know what you remember before they sent you here." Travis was curious despite their current predicament.
"A guiding voice, one that saved me from purgatory."
Travis understood that prying anymore would just waste time. His curiosity was still there but the answer she gave him would have to do for now. "You can stand up now, you can help me plan as well. "

"Understood." She looked out the window to see the city and observe their current situation.
"We are on the third floor, our main goal is to reach a safer area." Right as Travis finished his sentence he felt the ground shake.
[Your world is now open to the multiverse, best of luck!]
Large red portals appeared in the sky while blue and purple ones now littered the ground. Each with their own respective visitors coming in from a different realm of existence.
"I see, the master is in a world that only recently joined the multiverse." She concluded upon seeing the vast amount of portals outside.
"Uhuh, now the real question is where do we go from here?" Travis placed a palm on his head as he tried to find options. "The evacuation center would be nice, if it wasn't all the way on the other side of the city... there's the forest too but that's a long drive away."
Travis was stuck in the city for the time being. Going out of his room would mean exposing himself to the dangers outside. "It's time to check out the other commands."
Chat and Rankings didn't really matter to him, the chat function was available for both him and his recruit. Mira stated that the system is a mandatory part of life when a reality is opened up to the multiverse. She also has access to the same commands that he does.
"Trade."
All sorts of options were present, hundreds of offers regarding books and magical trinkets. The trade system didn't use any universal form of currency, instead items were traded for whatever a person needed. Internal Energy Pills, Mana potions, and Martial arts books. There were even items like food and certain vehicles. He flipped through the search bar and saw nothing that he could trade for, the trades available were all from non-local sources only a few humans from his reality would even dare to put up an item. Likely the rich, trying to pawn off their toys for something useful in the new world.
"This will likely be useful later, but not now... " He had to think of something else. "There's no safe way to go about this anyways, I'd rather move on my own than sit here and die to whatever random monster arrives."
"Mira, are you strong enough to guard me from the monsters outside?" There were no descriptions for the creatures that he saw, only their actual appearance. It would be hard to discern their combat ratings at just a glance.
"For most of them, I believe that my abilities will suffice." She then gulped as she motioned for him to look at the flying serpents and lizards in the sky. "But I believe that we should not provoke the beasts above the Bronze-Grade, Master."
"I see, we'll avoid them then." He knew that she was at least capable enough to protect him so that was good news in his eyes. "We'll be heading south, the dumpsite should be an area that most people are avoiding. We can hide there for now, I have enough supplies to last the both of us at least a week."
Travis was in no shape to move, let alone run. He was already tired from a long day's work adding to that was the alcohol he consumed just an hour ago. He was running on fumes due to the emergency that he was currently in. "South. That's our first goal, if we run into convenience stores on the way then we'll take some supplies. For now let's get out of here!"
He quickly opened his door and ran for the stairs, Mira followed him with her staff in one hand.
