Chapter 83

'Claim all sales please and thank you.'

** DING **

My claims rewarded me 48,749,934,530 Creds. Mostly from the sales of Conjure Trilattic Swarm and Magico Disk; almost ten million buyers of the lower masteries upgraded to peak, along with a little more than that amount of new buyer; most bought the Peak Mastery, though almost as much got the Intermediate mastery. In addition, the better part of 360 million people purchased and casted my mod for Novice Repository. And lastly, a few thousand individuals purchased Will-o'-Weal and Latent Coating. The Multiverse is such an amazing market.

As with every other person out there, with great money comes the tendency to window shop in hopes of finding something worth buying. Thus, I have been spending the few hours after midnight browsing the System Store unproductively… It suddenly dawned on me, Quasi-Inventory! That spell enlarges the space contained within a container, but what if we attach it to a Subspace instead?

So it turns out that the spell does not work that way. Rather than attach, it is more like I interpose the container with a Subspace of my choice. In this case; I select the closest Subspace layer to True Space, one that only accepts objects; I simply think of it as the Inventory Subspace. After some Spell-tingkering, the top-most pouch of my bandolier fuses with it, becoming twice as large and now refuses to accept anything alive.

This exercise also worked to remind me of the four Subspaces I know of besides True Space. The two closest are both Inventory-ish Spaces only capable of storing objects and materials. But, while one is friendly and easy to influence, the other feels dark and mysterious, as well as vast and infinite, even traversing said Subspace is mana expensive and exhausting to the soul not to mention constructing a stable storage. But this in turn makes it much more secure and difficult to locate.

The third and fourth closest are both capable of temporarily containing living creatures or sentients. The former is better used for temporary spatial transportation due being less stable and thus easier to manipulate, but is in turn quick to unravel, making prolonged use perilous. While the latter is much more stable, making it a challenge to shape and manipulate, yet anything built within it will in turn maintain any changes permanently, so long as the occasional maintenance is done… I am currently defaulting to the third Space when using Blink and Invaseviction. But I wonder if Blink might be much better applied on the fourth Space.

No time like the present. I dismiss my current active Blink and recast the spell, using Mana Manipulation and Spatial Intuition to influence its working so as to construct its tunnel on the stabler fourth Subspace instead. The Subspace itself seems to fight me for every centimeter of progress and by the time I spent 60 mana, which is the original cost of Blink. Only one fifth of the tunnel had been constructed. Owning plenty of mana to spare, I persist with the endeavor.

Unexpectedly, the act gets easier the more the tunnel is constructed. And I end up spending 180 mana, 3 times the original cost, rather than the expected 5 times. Unfortunately, the spell does not work as intended. Moving its tunnel exit is as much a chore as constructing it was, and this renders it unusable in combat scenarios where every fraction of a second counts. I was forced to once again dismiss and recast the spell as usual.

My first Master level Spell!—Besides the temporary Ladle of Lethe back during our early days in the Goblin Dungeon.

Charisma skills, I assume, leveled from my interaction with the Dwarves, Battle Command from helping the Marksmans coordinate during their combat with the Gnomelems. The last two are definitely the results of upgrading a spell and spending the rest of the night Artificially Infusing Agus's request; 25 Cores each infused with Condense Water and Unsoil, then 50 Cores with Lesser Heal, and lastly, 6 with Blink. Not forgetting the 50 uninfused Cores.

I had wanted to symbolize what Core is infused with what spell, quite like how I made my Infused cubes, which is how I figured out Fashion Core; Condense Water is symbolized with a drop of water, Unsoil with a hand brush, heal with the typical cross and blink with a miniature tunnel. I very much enjoyed the creation process of these symbols and by the time I am done Artificial Infusing all 106 Core-124s, the sun is just barely peeking out of the beautiful horizon. So I sit on the roof of my Tower at Quadholm, watching it paint the world warm with its red and orange hue. By the way, Artificial Infusion is still stuck at level 14!

Soon, the sounds of activity reach my ears. 99.9999~% of the population may still need 7 - 8 hours of sleep, but Constitution still helps with rising up bright and early without any of the old-reality's side effects like still being sleepy for no reason, or aching all over from sleeping in the wrong positions and overwork. We all agree it is quite a blessing. Gon is off somewhere around here playing with the various other Familiars, so I engage Micro Flight and make my way towards Agus's self proclaimed enchanting chamber. It is located on the open grounds, and is only a few meters away really. While I had planned to only construct the Towers above ground here on Quadpeak, and had planned to have everything else built underground. A lot of people much prefer living in a house under the open skies, which is how the grounds around my Tower are put into use. I do not mind, morale is, too, important.

"Here~ ya go!" I dump the 106 Infused and 50 uninfused Cores on his table, making sure to explain the symbol for him. Though I am confident they are quite self explanatory.

"Thank you! Though I might end up getting rid of these symbols during the cutting process if that's alright with you." He says right away.

"Such disregard for my hard work!" I reply to him, looking offended for a moment before I grin wide. "Just kidding! Go for it!"

"You know I'm gonna cut the gem, why bother?" He asks still, to which I explain about how the tradition started from when I was still using rock cubes and how I had promptly decided it shall be maintained, even with Mana Cores, now that I can. "Don't you have better things to do than make these symbols on each Core?"

"They don't really take all that much time once I get the hang of it. Besides, it's a Master Rank spell. You should get it too somehow, imagine creating something and the Core ends up not fitting its socket. The spell would come in handy." I say in defense, he grumbles something about never making such rookie mistakes, but deigned to actually mention that to me. "Alright, well thanks again! I'll get started and will keep you informed."

That's a dismissal if any. Oh, how he has changed. "Alrighty, goodluck!" I reply with a grin looking at his serious face, clearly deep in thought. I believe it is a change of the good category!

Anyhow, it is time to observe the mines. I descend my Tower as well as the stairs to arrive at 100 meters below my Tower.

"Fancy seeing you here!?" Came a questioning statement. I turn my head to find Anastasia; the doctor that should be in charge of Jennifer and her yet to be born baby.

"Hi Anastasia! I can say the same about you." I chuckle, "aren't you supposed to be with Jen? But don't take it the wrong way, it's nice to see a familiar face."

She, too, chuckled at my words. "Happy to see you too, Zen! Jennifer and her fetus are fine. There are plenty of doctors and healers back at Rumah. Besides, with The System and all these levels and attribute business. Both the fetus and the mother are much healthier than even the healthiest fitness junkie back before the end of the world."

"Is that how you see the integration? The end of the world?" I ask, not quite seriously, as indicated by my smile. But I am still decently curious.

"Well, there are a lot of deaths, and whether or not we survive past the year is still up in the air." She replies, also with a smile on her lips. "So what else could it be?"

"Who knows, but I believe we will survive!" I shrug and say. Though I suppose that is hard to predict, but I sure will try my best to make sure we do. Changing the topic, I ask her, "how much longer till Jennifer and Henry's kid come out? Is it a boy or a girl?"

"Well, Jen's about 5 months in now. So maybe in approximately another 4 or so months." She replies after a pause, "who knows with all the changes lately. But we assume pregnancy and birth will be how it has been so far. Or at least, we surely hope so!"

"I hope so too!" I echo.

"So, what brings you here? Did they find something dangerous? Or who knows what kinda emergency warrants summoning someone like you here?!" She asks, once again changing our topic of conversation. "It's already dangerous enough; mining, that we need doctors or healers like me on standby all the time."

Someone like me? "Nah, I'm just here to see how our mining operation is going. Just my personal curiosity really. Been feeling kinda lost since we no longer need to ally up with the rest of humanity and I no longer need to travel around. So I've just been lurking around here and there."

She merely nods absentmindedly at that, so I figured it's worth asking. "By the way, what do you mean people like me?"

"Oh! Didn't mean anything bad. Just that when something very troublesome; which mostly tends to be monstrously powerful enemies, is found. It comes down to Kirana's party, or you, who ends up being called forth to solve the trouble. Like, you guys are the strongest around kinda meaning." She explains coolly.

"Oh… Well, nothing like that." I reply blankly. We then made small talks for a while before I excuse myself to further explore the mines. There are two main fronts within our mine; one smaller group of people works here on the 100th meter below the Tower's level; making use of Shape Stone, to construct more rooms here on the lower floors. It shall function as a closer base of operation for the miners. Climbing up and down 100 meters multiple times daily is, if not exhausting physically, mentally tedious after all. Need to pee; 100 meters up then the same distance back down. Lunch break; rinse and repeat. Not fun!

Another larger group continues to pioneer their way downwards by continuing to expand the stairs in a similar downwards spiral. It is slow and mana intensive work. Unlike the corridors, we need our stairs as durable as possible. Which mean, despite the struggle, they are required to compress the walls with Shape Stone, assisted by a few team of miners that help break the walls and make it a combined process of manual mining and magical compression rather than straight out shaping the stairs. It will be a worthy endeavor, as, If the words of our stout earth attuned friends are to be believed; most of the good stuff is 300 meters below. Where the stone grows and pulsates with life. However that works.

I can't wait to see it for myself!
