Episode 61: PROJECT 007: HUMANITY'S WEAPON/Part 1

Luna jolted as she heard a massive clank outside the room, metal clashing as machine doors opened. Drima accessed the computer's other files in that pinch, realizing what had just happened, closing everything else, and forcefully stopping the USB from sharing its data.

"Luna, go. Now. The system just told me that there was an operation finishing right outside the facility.", Drima anxiously said, trying to get a hold of any visuals.

"The only operational machinery outside the facility is...the elevator? The door remained open, correct?"

"This 100% means someone entered. Someone sane enough and very, very dangerous. And I don't mean dangerous as in just bringing bodily harm or otherwise like that."

Luna realized that time was up, leaning over the PC as she took the USB out, "Understood. For the total success of the mission, a risk must be taken. I ask that you use both the remote access of the nearby vicinity to upload all available data within H.I.V.E."

"We don't have time for that, besides basic information on subjects and projects, the mapping of the facility-"

"H.I.V.E. behaves extremely differently than other programs. All you need to do is initiate the upload command and all that can be accessed, will.", she quickly explained.

"Wouldn't that also put a strain on you, physically?", Drima worryingly said.

"Minimalistically so. However, the real risk is after the file's nature as a whole, whether they were brought up for elimination or are still intact. Regardless, do it.", Luna demanded.

Haphazardly so, Drima started dragging all sorts of different files from the computer, overloading Tiki's spyware as it was forced to release a plethora of information into the H.I.V.E. Within a few moments, Luna started to feel more than confident enough to move around the entire facility, almost as if she knew every nook and cranny of every hallway. To his surprise, although he had basically begun spamming enormous amounts of data into the program, it not only accepted all inputs but also quickly sorted them and allowed for more. Keeping up, he just dragged and dropped everything he could, from administrative information to mere mappings of the facility, to projects and data not

"Accessing H.I.V.E. now, it seems that I have attained-hmm!", Luna paused as she struggled to move, ending her sentence short as Drima paused everything he was doing on the spot.

"Are you ok?! I didn't put anything too heavy on you, did I?!"

Luna regained her footing as she quickly realized what it was all about, "Drima, when you first began developing those prosthetics and enhancements, along with the very, very prototype of H.I.V.E., what was the password?"

Drima got weirded out, "You couldn't be any more specific, but I don't remember at all. I literally rolled my entire arm on the keyboard, until a total of 100 different characters forced me to stop after they activated the limit."

"You have attained a total of how many PhDs?", Luna quickly realized that Drima had leftovers of human, nature. That said, it was more than obvious that a golden opportunity was present, and actively getting lost by the second from things not even close to a caliber of possible stupidity Luna had Drima capable of.

"You think any of those matter when I don't sit and do my own research? But in any case. 57 across 250 years of actively trying to get them. If the numbers feel off for how much you actually need to work to get just one of those, think simply that I am still, very much, a genius. Look, if you give me a minute or...", he took a second glance at what Luna was referring to, "No way..."

Luna realized he found out, "From the data I can access in my mind, via H.I.V.E., the initial unnamed project you developed was used as a building block from which H.I.V.E. was made. This mission...it is not over. I will go deeper into the facility, as special weaponry is stored that is specifically catered to me, one of the only successes the Ascension program had. That includes a...M.O.D.?", Luna dug through all the imported data.

"I wouldn't be surprised if these monsters latched onto you and expanded on you specifically. That is based solely on whatever research they stole from me, and how a possible majority of their subjects were turned...it's more than enough proof to have something catered to you. The dangers you will face are immense, and there's the threat approaching from the elevators we still have to identify."

"I request a full focus on trying to crack the password of the top administration title of the H.I.V.E. That will assist in way more ways than one.", Luna kicked the door away.

"I can't shuffle through everything as fast as you and H.I.V.E. combined can. Give me a minute as you head further in. I hope the maps are correct about where you are going."

"Surface level data hasn't been destroyed by the USB drive, only deeper ones. And to much of the statistical surprise, that includes H.I.V.E."

"It's possible its intent didn't need hiding, as much as whatever those hellish experiments on the kids did."

A ton of grunting and growling was heard from the distance, followed by inaudible yelling and the very distinct sound of gunshots from both normal and energy-based weapons, as Luna briefly and curiously hid behind the corner of a hallway going deeper into the facility, waiting for a mere glance at the threat. It wasn't long before a strike force of five different soldiers similarly dressed as the ones found dead inside the room before her. Realizing exactly what this was about, Luna fled deeper into the facility before they could close further in, trying to put her best effort into avoiding detection and getting possibly recognized, before further scrutiny.

"They are all VSF soldiers.", Luna told Drima as she ran.

"Dammit. The operation that the previous team was on...it was recent. They couldn't retrieve the USB and come back with it, and this must be a final push to get it back. Or even attempt to."

"It's nonsensical when they have no way of knowing if the USB itself had accumulated the wanted information.", Luna added.

"Luna, I can't make any more theories for tonight...whatever happens, get out of there alive, we'll talk about this later. For now, get to where you want to and away from them, I'll handle the password cracking."

Heading further inside, she was quick to come by more of the misfortuned children, all coming with a wide palette of different, horrid amalgamations and extensions plaguing their bodies. A little girl whose neck was wide open, leaving nothing but exposed tissues, and even bone at the very back. A boy whose one hand was severed, hanging and waving back and forth as a wretched lump of metal protruded from the socket on its wrist, sharp enough to treat even metal, let alone mere flesh. All those key distinctions...and yet they were both the same. Failures.

And to her surprise, yet another living failure. And animal. A very, very aggressive-looking dog, with a nose that led to a muzzle that was pure bones, no sight of skin. Its teeth, looking very much like they were sharpened, crudely grew from both above and below its gums, the few patches of skin around its mouth and throat being pierced as an abnormal amount of said teeth grew out of it. Moreover, where the dog looked pale, with patches of black, dead skin covering its body, a very sizeable, sharp, metal lump was very poorly but very firmly placed on its left leg, making it look as if it had a severed wing to tag along with it.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Upon looking at Luna, realizing of her existence despite her freezing on the spot the moment she realized they were there, it let a horrid screech, its vocal cords vomited out of its body as they forced it to stop screaming. After sucking them all back in, let Luna get a very clear view of an additional three rows of sharpened but normal-sized teeth, both the boy and the girl immediately attacked Luna, with the dog following right after.

"A new enemy detected-", she quickly took a step forward and stood her ground with a massive swing of her scythe forth, knocking them all back, "Experimentations were done on local fauna as well."

"Good, great. What the hell am I supposed to do with that information too, when I have to care for both tracking the VSP morons and blocking them while hacking a very powerful network system?!", Drima started feeling the pressure.

Luna took back her stance and prepared to attack head-on, "How close are the VSF hostiles?"

"Very. They pursued you as soon as they saw you, their communications are being rapidly in and out of my hacking radius as you and they move! I can't find a clear window to access them either!"

"The Failures must have a similar construction to me, in terms of enhancements. What are the chances that they are capable of facing VSP soldiers?"

"I have no idea, I can't try and look into it right now! What are you about to do?"

"This."

Luna put her scythe in front of her as she went for an all-out assault, bashing through all three of the Failures as she dashed forward, knocking them away yet again before she quickly began running away from them as fast as she could. While all three of the tormented Failures got up and started to look like they were about to make a mad dash after Luna, they were completely interrupted by the group of running VSP soldiers that came within their field of you. Then completely disregarding the fact that Luna even existed mere seconds before, all three jumped the soldiers at once, a massacre occurring before any of them even could react. Slit throats, disemboweled abdomens, crushed skulls, bitten whole, until brains were exposed and eyes were popped, it was only after the entire group was completely slaughtered by the three Failures that it stopped.

Compared to the previous example of frightening and professional precision shown within the computer room, this was just...animalistic. And it didn't even end there, as reinforcement in waves quickly arrived. But like horrors straight from nightmares, the Failures needed no breathing, no recovery, no healing. It was a constant struggle, a constant fight, until either they or whatever was unlucky enough to face them was completely destroyed.

More gunshots were heard from the distance as Luna went deeper in, eventually reaching a very wide and open area, circling around what looked like two different levels before a ground floor. On the bottom of the area, there only seemed to be collapsed metals and plastic layered around, dropping from a partially destroyed metal rooftop that very few remaining, weak lights glimmered and shone throughout the entirety below. Compared to what she previously thought, this was all too...eerie. There was certainly no tranquility to be found here. It was just peaceful for the sake of trapping some poor, ignorant soul in a place worse than whatever hell they were taught to believe in.

Luna found herself on the top floor, gazing down below. Being curious as to what could be beneath, she grabbed a small piece of concrete she found near the almost collapsed railing, waiting to see what would happen. And like food in a pond full of fish, as soon as the concrete dropped, no less than a dozen Failures gathered all around it, smashing it as if it was something alive and moving. And to her dismay, among those Failures, one was yet another mutilated dog. The dog being somehow even more intelligent than the actual human beings surrounding it looked up, retracing the fallen concrete and looking right at Luna.

With yet another horrid screech, every single one of those Failures started dashing right for the nearest stairs, while others the nearest walls, starting to penetrate the metal while crawling upwards like some sort of twisted spider. Very quickly realizing that whatever she was to do, taking on twelve and more of essentially the same as her would lead to a very high chance of either harm or death, even if it had been Dante, Isabelle, or all of them combined, she jumped right above the railing and grabbed on the edge, vaulting inwards inside the lower floor and dashing to a very carefully selected room she spotted as she did. The struggle was real, and the threat didn't end there, as the Failures, accompanied by the dog, quickly spread out as they started doing what was essentially, a well-coordinated search for her.

"Drima, drop everything and use the internal light system to guide the VSP to my current location better.", she hid underneath an inside window.

"Okay, got it.", Drima quickly did as told, wasting not another moment doubting.

Being able to faintly get a hold of the VSP communication systems and pinning their location, Drima began flickering the lights and either closing or opening the doors to successfully and slowly divert the attention of the squad of soldiers. A mere few minutes later, because of their confidence in what really sounded like sheer numbers, a ton of heavy running and moving started to echo from the upper floor, and the search for her was quickly abandoned as after a brief moment of listening, the Failure that was that dog, along with several other mutilated animals that could no longer be identified from their scars, rushed off.

Luna had only begun giving up her cover, before heaving the most massive, heavy rain of bullets she ever did, followed by thuds, crashes and either screeching or yelling, all coming from where Drima had attracted both groups to slowly collide. Having successfully averted the attention, she proceeded to call upon Drima to open the lights in that room, illuminating what most definitely was the weapons R&D department or at least an area of it.

Moving towards the access terminal up front, Luna started to quickly spot and activate all necessary functions for separate devices, room lights included, until with Drima's help, she found exactly what she was looking for.

"So...what is that? That's no M.O.D., I'll tell you that much. I don't think it even comes close to actually mimicking my initial designs.", Drima looked at the awkward prints.

"Because they are not. Have you acquired the password for the H.I.V.E. administrator?"

Drima pulled it up, "Surprisingly, no real hacking was required. Some moron saved it in the PC's notes. IHfSiyAM89Er1kAqHcIGEiqHIfhcjkcNIP28o62USCewupDRemGzjjJ5DCmIMAvVnRaVP7pCJivbW9m9LtDqUatopadswZngs15pgext", he actually pronounced every individual character, voice peaking on capital ones, as Luna followed him flawlessly by writing it down.

"Thank you."

"You got all that? All 100 plus characters? Because I surely had more than 100 going.", Drima was surprised.

"Yes.", she kept on working, "I need to get this to H.I.V.E. right now.", she proceeded to enter her information on the platform, copying and pasting the long password.

Before she could continue on with whatever she had in mind, she heard very noticeable footsteps, all leading up outside the room. Getting down to avoid any detection at all, she was very much surprised that she heard the door open, opting to instead prepare to strike a possible VSP soldier coming her way. But despite everything she prepared, the voice of what definitely was not one was heard.

"Hello. Are you here? Project 007?", a little girl spoke.

Luna got up to face the girl, knowing full well that she was to be different. How so? Because the privilege that speech had ended up becoming for the other tormented children, was something surely in her possession. At first glance, that was just it. A little girl in a black midnight dress, wearing slippers and nothing else. Her skin was smooth and beige, covered by long sleeves, and her hair was short cut, with the very irregular color of grey. On her head, a small crystal pin held the front tuff of her hair up, allowing her gray eyes to clearly look at Luna. No grey dead skin. No wounds. No aggression. As such, the only thing she could do was lock the door behind her and listen to what she had to say.

"Project 007. Do you see me?", the girl asked.

"I do. I do not suppose you require saving."

"I do not. My name is Mila Antonov, Project 008. You have accessed a part of H.I.V.E. you were not supposed to. Good. Do you remember me? The Falana Orphanage?"

"My point of origin, I do, but I am afraid that I lack sufficient memories to be reminded of your image. Maybe we had not attained a sufficient enough bond for me to do so. You, however, remind me of Lina."

"Project 006? Lina Falana is still alive as well, despite the procedures on her organism?", the little girl pondered, "She is not severed from H.I.V.E."

"She was never a part of it. What is the reason for your presence?"

"I have to warn you about what will happen. Something really bad. Because you will soon have to face the former administrator."

"May I ask how you inquired about such information?", Luna started doubting the girl.

"I am known as the Sheperd Runaway. I was the first semi-successful project after your initial success. I have long awaited a day when H.I.V.E. would reconnect me with someone of my kin. With you now impeaching the administrator status, the danger is imminent. The Failures above you will have already eliminated the evil people. You will have to activate your starting potential and assume your assigned role. Communications are collapsing. You have been vaguely warned. Good luck, humanity's weapon."
