Episode 57: Always Hidden, Always Different/Part 1

A situation which resembled a feast that of victory was amidst the long and wide table in the room, as Wallace soon brought forth not just tea, but sweets, small sandwiches and other snacks with which they'd enjoy their time. Truly admirable, it was quick to turn their heads as in the speed it all manifested, with Wallace moving back and forth constantly to bring everything out of the break room area.

"Thank you, Wallace. That should be enough.", Alexandra was pleased.

"Mere nothing, your Highness. Now, with your guest seated on this luxurious teatime, you may begin. I shall also place a relaxing tone upon the sound system for you to entice into.", he left to set the music.

A relaxing tone of piano keys stroked in an on-tune, relaxing and loosely laid rhythm, accompanied with the mellow playing of violins in the chorus soon started to play, the retainer being as fast as he was with setting up the items themselves for them to feast on.

"This is rather...extravagant for a simple teatime.", Luna gazed around.

"I am glad you think so. It was meant to be as such.", Alexandra happily said, "Now, with which subject to begin our delightful conversation, I wonder.", she sipped her tea.

Enemy dispelled her armor in order to more comfortably sit down on the chair, "Probably should level the playing field and get everyone to understand where we are coming from, literally."

"You are all too comfortable around her, specifically.", Dante pointed out.

"Yes, because she is a figure familiar to Hikari...although, once an opposing one.", Enemy sipped her tea.

"You know the Grand Counselor of Victoria too?", Tiki was surprised.

"I lived in a city-state within the boarders belonging in her sovereignty, of course I do. Add the fact that Cecilia was the yes-woman for the times, with her hidden fame shared only with Alexandra, she was hard to miss. That being said, I see an awful lot of hostilities from your side instead."

"That's because she is to blame for what happened to Sandaco as a whole, especially in Corosta!"

"Nonsense. Might I remind you that it was a combined effort between Insinia and Victoria? Not accounting from your active opposition from the church from Larussia and other smaller countries that didn't exactly see eye to eye with your behaviors. Let alone the political turmoil around your boarders, and even afar, when you tried to stir up war at any dispute between anyone who wasn't Sandaco for profit. Warmongers like what Sandaco once was, had it coming."

Tiki slammed the table, "Screw you, men, women and children were involved who had nothing to do with this!"

"Hey now, we should calm down.", Terna tried to cool Tiki off.

"I know now like I did back then. But in the answer of the old train heading for two and being able to kill one to save them, I acted as I deemed fit. Where I came from, once with war of arms and war of economics, one way or another, Germany as that Sandaco was named always had a perfectionist mind, and a competitive one at that. However, in my possession of this book, I deem it unreasonable for you to be so angered, rather than reflective, when you speak as such.", she showed a book, bearing some sort of bright red seal on the side of it's cover.

Tiki seemed to be mortified, as if a thousand bad memories came back to her at once, "A legitimate print of...The Genealogy Of Genocide."

"You specifically requested that I lay my lips down on subjects of such magnitude. But as grateful as I am to have your people see that they record the horrors and purges of the war's aftermath...I too am ashamed to have made some choices I did. However, being ashamed to have made some choices, one's I thought best for the greater good, over being ashamed for choosing selfishly or otherwise staying put upon their appearance, I choose the first half by far."

"That book...it speaks of the mass murders for Obsulyte users after the war, right? Or in general, power figures in order to stabilize? I've read a lot of books in my time in Kaci. This is one of the worse prints.", Yuno recognized the book.

"Indeed. But the legitimate print, one which I deem to be the only remaining, with the seal of the writers of Sandaco, also bares information scribbled from public. The events within Sandaco itself, before their eventual collapse under the combined forces of Trifecta Pact and Victorian Alliance countries. Even so, it even somehow manages to reach up to Dirunon's collapse, when they too were erased under other combined forces. One's I suspect were none other that the Overseers this world quickly glorified and turned to gods."

"But, before all that, I just need to ask. What's going on now? Because you brought us here so fast, I barely have time to even process what's going on.", Terna cut the history lesson short.

"I...needed the monsters you were trying to exterminate.", Alexandra said.

"Wait, what?", Dante was weirded out.

"We made efforts ourselves to exterminate larger threats, such as ones you saw presented by Drima, but never actually witnessed, over some rather new and particular ones. The rest of the monsters were in an enforced, controlled environment. From the Victoria Plains down to the Insinian boarder. Wallace, if you may."

"Gladly. As I am a leading military figure appointed by her Majesty, herself, it was my plan, to an extend. Insinia has deployed many mechanoid armaments, autonomous machinery of war around a military parameter in it's boarders in order to control the monster inflow. That, however, was proven but a mere excuse when all our recon could prove was that they were holding the monsters away from their boarders, not exterminating them in sight. Which might very well mean that, after hearing Thaddeus's plan, Insinia might have just been using the zone to externalize the monster threat into mass migration waves towards other countries, in hopes of solidifying alliance with them once he sent you to get everything signed. Allegedly. But even then, the growing unrest surrounding Insinia, other Trifecta pact countries and everything, after the mass energy crisis that was produced after the Great War, is a major reason to get invested into such plan."

"So all those kids we were with during our car ride-", Tiki realized.

"We are afraid that without the original body of Silverlances, which we decided to silently suffer the loss of after Dirunon was destroyed in order to avoid further political drama at the time by pointing fingers, we had to start taking equal precautionary measures in fear of rising conflict. I...I am more than ashamed for myself to have driven things yet again to where they are. Once, I was a queen, that of Great Britain and the Victorian Empire, who's name faded along with a presumed death, before I was given another chance and failed to mold the world with the power given to me as best I saw fit."

"A historical figure surviving the passing of time? I remember Hikari reading about you in books...but you are seriously the same person as in back on Earth? How?", Enemy curiously said.

"Once Hikari entered this world, certain manifestations of remaining Obsulyte happened that gave us not only revival, but kept us intact as persons. Hence why, despite the obvious geological and biological differences, we were able to influence certain parts of the world into being remolded, rebranded, into a better Earth than before...at least that's what we thought."

"Plural of 'we'? There are more like you?", Luna asked.

Alexandra nodded, "Several historical figures that the mystery that was Serena's existence was able to band together. All from different timelines, with different personalities and misfortunes, who each held a pure white feather I could only assume was further 'Obsulyte' enhancing materials once stripped away from us from the Phoenix. Or I guess, the Fenghuang, as we recall. Our stories lye deep, with connections beyond even that of Earth at this point, and our paths crossed with each other since then. We were known way back in this world's history as the Abyss Hunters. A faction directly opposing Hikari, her molding of the world after another false god's image, and the inauthenticity of a portrayed free will. And only very later on, when it did not matter, did we realize that our goals were aligned with that of Hikari's, our conflicts and sacrifices obsolete, which lead to the disbandment of our group into different areas remolded into our homelands from our teachings and morals. Blood was spilled for no reason, and us who called ourselves the hopes of mortals, were at the forefront. We were seven, hailing from way different parts of the world we called home. Me, Alexandrina Victoria of England, Efialtis Lakedemon of Greece, Reinhardt Siegfried of Germany, Tallulah Elysia of America, Mohamed Salem of the whole middle east, Haneul-Jo Shin of Korea and...well Akari Sakyoto of Japan. The last one is wavering between a member of ours of not. She as was volatile as ever, with her wrath taking over much of her choices that let her down an eerie path. We never knew for sure what to make of her."

Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel.

"Tallulah...Elysia?", Dante caught on to that name, "Of...America?"

"Caught your ears, Dante Elysia? She was a...a really sad case. Tallulah's story, from what Serena conveyed to me was nothing short of horrid, and yet, her will to press forward as strong as she was, was nothing short admirable. Luckily for you, I know exactly where she is. Deep inside Larussia, adversary of the Church. Few of us were left with the means I got, hence why I still somewhat know where my old friends are, despite seizing contact with them after the...fiasco, that was our then reborn young mind's dream."

"Anything more about her you can tell me? There's not a whole lot of people named Elysia, you know.", Dante got very interested.

"I know a lot about her, on the surface, at least. She had the same immortality to Serena when she was discovered, and she bore witnessed to the omnipotent Overseer they called a god, as well as the opposite of that god, at once. The Witness, is one of the titles she had, and other than that, she was a mystery to us beneath it all. Split directly in half after the Witness incident, one half is golden blonde, while the other was velvet and blood red, eyes matching accordingly. She had extreme and excess strength to top us all, second to Serena alone, and that was good enough a reason to call her second in command. Apparently, the mortals she manifested were in direct opposition to the one's Hikari had. Hence the War Of Zero, where mortals who defied the heavens reached the gods to dethrone them."

"Any chance, at all, I can be related to her? She...she might be among the last relatives I got alive.", Dante pleaded for more information.

"From footage I saw, your Obsulyte does match her quite a lot but...I don't know. But what I do know is that Dirunon has survivors, some which might be Angelico and Angelica. I knew of all of Cecilia's troubles and life, since we talked frequently before it all happened. Way up on the north east, is rumored to be a new village containing survivors of that incident. Even I can't completely confirm that, as it crosses Victorian boarders. But on the slim possibility they are alive, maybe there stationed there."

Dante's mouth dropped as he went back into that scenery, only to confirm it himself. He stabbed his own mother to death, right where she only showed love and care at him with a soft touch and a nearly silent song...only after waking up next to both his siblings, knocked out like he was before the bunker's front door.

"But...how the hell did they find their way outside of Victoria when they were so...", he frantically whispered, "I need to take a little break. This is just...a bit too much.", he head towards the break room.

Alexandra reassured him, "Take your time."

"I know all of those names. All of them stick out to me.", Terna was left at a daze.

"Sure you do. With Serena's memory and all."

"And those buddies of yours...are they all alive?", Tiki curiously asked.

"As far as I'm aware. Their deaths would definitely not escape me, as their magnitude wouldn't be that common to fade easily."

"Hmm. That's good then. If they hate godlike figures, might as well try.", Tiki thought.

"The brilliant mind behind the operation earlier to day that you are, you should know that approaching them would be...not a good idea. Well, aside from Efialtis. He was always sort of...in his own world."

"They are hostile too?"

"Considering that they have yet to move on from their tragedies...Weis, a higher Hyrusa I have come into contact with over the long years this immortality allows me to live, was to make quick work of my stuck up pride and throw it away when we met. Hence my somewhat inherited demeanor of his...however, that alone places me at odds with Akari. Yuno, where I come from, should already be a red flag as a most definite eastern name, and curiously so, same with Hikari. And that's where Weis was from, as far as I know, Japan. More specifically, he must have surely been a survivor of Akari's lust for death over 'Kaiju' as her country dubbed them, horrible massive scale monsters wrecking death and havoc everywhere. But even with the obvious intellectual ability and wisdom behind Weis's words, she would still choose to view him as a monster in need of a killing. So he escaped. All the way from the hell of the Solar Sea that stems around Japan, to the continent of...what did we name Europe again?", she looked at Wallace.

"I...forgot. Forgive me, your Highness.", Wallace shamefully said.

"You mean Elise?", Luna suggested.

"What the hell is up with all the Elysian Field, Elysia last names and Elise continent stuff? Seriously, what did I miss throughout this time that I was here?", Enemy pointed out.

"Elysian Plains and Fields you mean? Does make sense, when you know that Tallulah was among the first to historically oppose such paramount figures of authority, in favor of mortals alone. Her presence is undeniably important, even if history books don't dare mention her."

"You know, all this different things you decide to hide from public only serve to make you a lot more suspicious.", Yuno pointed out.

"You are indeed, correct. But right before I met Wallace, I was too stuck up on a rulers pride to leave everything said and done. However, even now, I realized very well that in order to keep the peace, there must be compromise. Understand that if such things were to come out right now, it'd be a disaster worse than you could imagine, especially with this rising of the New Hopes Light, the Turn and all other headaches. This world is not just being divided, it's slowly being torn apart."

"And you want us to do...what exactly? Unite the Abyss Hunters, unite the nations under one purpose, or something else? We are not the ones for that mission.", Terna fearfully said, "It's a task way too grandiose for us. Especially where we lie now."

"Where you lie now?", Alexandra wondered.

"We've all been and done a grant total of nothing towards that goal on a bigger scale. We keep telling everyone we meet this, but we are not qualified. In the end, they were right. And while I surely would love to save the world and bring only happiness to it with my songs, I only come to realize more and more by the day that it's only just a pipedream. For example, like you said that Akari will hate you for even knowing about Weis, turning our backs on Thaddeus has surely, already made us an undesirable party in his presence. If anything, he should be even more riled up and ready to come at someone like you from the sheer thought that you 'stole us' away from him."

"I see that the modesty I knew Serena once for hasn't yet to fade. But here's my take. You are all so unbelievably focused on the larger scale, why don't you look at it from a smaller perspective? I did the same once upon a time, and it only helped to decimate my dreams I realized now. I was looking at Victoria as a whole, how to lead it as one. Big mistake. Victoria isn't one thing in need of leading. It's the military, the civil affairs, the domestic and foreign political statuses, the wellbeing and development of the nation, in both education per individual and technologically in multiple factors and aspects. So long as you stride to do one thing right, you are already doing something towards the whole. Now, I have witnessed first and foremost how one would try such tactic and fail and that's because they focused on doing it alone. In order for change at a larger scale, via the smallest things, to come, those small things must in turn be repeated to equal proportions to the greater whole.", Alexandra proudly said.

"Like when you opposed Hikari back then...", Terna thought.

"Exactly. Though not just Hikari, Makaro and Kikaro too. But you know what we had? Our own numbers, equal to face the armies on the other side. Change in this world is already happening, and luckily, you are all in positions where you can rein those broken pieces to your advantage, to form a puzzle more beneficial to everyone. Terna, you have been elected the leader of the city with the most technological advancements there are, you have the support of Ana Golver, daughter of the richest person in the world, Hikari who is still believed as a goddess, giving you instant support of the Church and reach to Tallulah herself who's on the Other Front right now. Not to add one of the most renowned military commanders of Germany, and the son of one of the strongest people I've ever met. You can only keep going up from here. If I may, I also believe that you might even be capable of breaking through the ever so robust fronts and finally enter Asia after a millennia, having them shut in after witnessing all of the other horrors. Down to the division that still strikes Africa to even going back into the hellscape that America has become and try to salvage that ruined world as well."

"Her Majesty speaks of experience, might I add. In truth, the seven recruits of Serena, after stepping into the world, were able to mold Elise, this continent of yours, and advance it to where you see it now. Even down to the far right, they influenced the world there, and just like you, they were young with their heads filled with nothing but said pipedreams. Still, when mistakes were realized recently, that dream had already manifested through stride and will to do so. It is a most uplifting speech, most of the things said inapplicable to most cases, but should this entire story not have revolved around capable individuals worth the time to invest to, I doubt that her Majesty would be so eager on interacting with you all for it. You all have unique talents and or unique positions that allow you to excel at an area others don't, and combining those together, possibilities are indeed high for a world reform better than it's similar to our, divided and full of inconsistencies world. Whether given by birthright, attained though your life's development or otherwise, pondering how you got here is but a hindrance in favor of where to go next depending on where you are.", Wallace added.

"We were not planning into integrating ourselves in your cause anyway, but merely pose as an ally now that we can trust you aren't a part of Thaddeus's scheme. We are well aware of Drima wishing to establish you as third parties with different identities, and we are nothing short of supportive for it, having looked deeply into each and every one of you. However, blind trust is not a point where we're at yet, but merely stepping back and allowing distinguished individuals to set the stage for what is deemed best...but if it does end up for the worst, I'm afraid interfering will be a viable course of action.", Alexandra warned them.
