Episode 42: What Lies Ahead/Part 1

Enemy flew right above Dante, fully thrusting her arm onto his chest and throwing him full force, straight down through an entire building, following behind him once again with a devastating plunging attack. Narrowly avoiding the plunging attack, Dante dashed to the side before summoning his sword and attacking her side. Once again, Enemy summoned her sword and deflected his attack, this time holding on to it and launching her own counterattack. Dante ducked underneath her thrust and punched upwards, hitting her stomach and knocking the air out of her, before recovering his stance and delivering a firm frontal swipe of his sword, sending Enemy flying through three more buildings before she forced her hand into the ground and breaking the knockback distance by grinding along it.

Enemy briefly exhaled, "You're really making me work for it."

"Hrea!", Dante threw a lance at her.

"Bring it-hep!" Enemy got herself partially off the ground before she extended her arm forward, and with impeccable timing, stopping that lance by the tip, before she flipped it around, grabbing it from its handle and hurdling it back, turning surrounding ruins into dust. Dante forced his blade on the tip of the lance, cutting it in half from its sheer momentum with ease. A familiar scene washed over her when she finally got off the ground, realizing that she now found herself back into her own personalized nightmare.

"That all?" Enemy said without any hesitation.

"I'll annihilate you." Dante seethed his sword, preparing to unleash a slashing flurry.

Catching wind of what Dante's next move was to be, Enemy seethed her sword back, holding it next to her side and lowering her stance. With the first red flash of the coming flurry, a massive clash of metal was heard, as Enemy quickly drew her blade barely out of its seethe, in a counterattacking motion. In a flash, before another slash could be done after the metallic clashing sound, Enemy unleashed a devastating counterattack, dashing right through Dante and paralyzing him on the spot.

Dante snapped out of it quickly, "You bitch...first my nightmares and then reality. When will you learn to bow down?!", he started yelling.

"Not that great a dent. He's starting to overload way too hard, his self healing is off the charts.", Enemy whispered, "It was your call, come to me.", she fixed her stance.

A large ghost like armor appeared behind Enemy, exactly the same as what Hikari had summoned before her in their assault on Corosta, signifying her presence on the battlefield. However, Enemy's weapon remained on her hand unlike Hikari, the armor still holding on its own lance, The Key Of The Gate.

"Even she wants to get rid of the thing she lied to, to not get any more leaked out?", Dante scoffed, "So be it."

"Eat shit-", Enemy dashed right in front of Dante, easily falling for his provocation against Hikari, "-and die!"

Enemy swept both of Dante's legs off the ground with a low sweep before turning around and slashing him downwards, crushing him to the ground. The recoil from the crash was so severe that Dante cracked the ground bellow him before bouncing back up. Seizing the moment, the armor thrusted it's lance through Dante's stomach, piercing through him and lifting him upwards as if he was staked. The armor then slammed Dante back down on the exact same spot Enemy had crushed him on, forcing him to bounce back from the recoil again as the two of them finished by correlating a perfect double slash that send Dante flying. From one side of the city to the other, Dante flew right back at the palace, where all of his torment had started.

Tiki grunted, "Not good. It's broken twice before fully healing...shit!"

"Don't move. Your arm has been momentarily stabilized, so the next few steps must be treated with caution.", Luna finished up Tiki's arm.

"I should've never brought any of you in this hell...I should've stuck with Hikari's alter ego and let it be.", Magi said, supporting Anya.

Anya panted, "What makes you think...we would follow you?", she followed with a painful sounding chuckle.

"Anya got it extremely bad, what do we do?", Terna worryingly said.

"Retreat, obviously. I'm not keeping any of you here anymore. Guys, please, don't fight me on this.", Magi pleaded.

"I...think we should...", Yuno said with a sad voice.

Tiki turned and looked straight at Yuno, "You think you get a say in any of this? Go [REDACTED] yourself!"

"Tiki...", Anya softly said, trying to show anger towards her.

"No, shut the [REDACTED] up, furry! You didn't see shit! This little, bitch-ass 'Guardian' did an absolute metric [REDACTED] all to help any of us! Just let the maniac straight through!", Tiki kept angrily screaming.

"What?", Magi wondered.

"Tiki! Did you not see what Dante was going to do?! For crying out loud, what was he supposed to do, other than comply?!", Terna argued.

"Beat his ass into submission!", Tiki yelled.

Magi stuttered, "What exactly did the kid try to do?"

A small moment of silence came over everyone who had witnessed Dante's extreme moves.

"...He threatened to take his own life.", Luna said with a heavy tone.

Magi clenched both her fists, "What..."

"Ahgh!", Anya yelped.

"Shit, sorry Anya.", Magi softly let go of Anya, placing her by Tiki.

"Magi...do you know something we don't about him?", Terna asked with a serious look.

"A lot more than you all do combined.", Magi clenched her fists again, turning to herself, “Have I not managed to heal any wounds for him to value his life…at all? Tsk, dammit! Terna! Try to heal Anya in any way you can."

"Can I...help?", Yuno said silently.

"No. You just stay here and do nothing. Should've never trusted a kid with such a task.", Magi bluntly said.

"I'm sorry.", Yuno took her words to heart.

"I will start planning an escape route, back to to the lab.", Luna said.

"Good. Get everyone the hell out of here. But before you do so, here.", Magi extended her arm, "Take one each. Private intercom channel set up by Drima. He aligned it with the same satellite Anya used to make the private texting channels on your phones, so the range is not an issue at all. From now on, I want to keep in touch with every single one of you at all times, at least till this is over.", Magi demanded.

"Understood.", Luna nodded.

"Magi, you'll go back to fighting that thing alone?!", Tiki yelled.

"That 'thing' is nothing more than even family to me. Got it?", Magi angrily said.

Tiki stuttered, looking at Magi being pissed off, "Whatever floats your boat.", she agreed with her.

“You agreed way too fast for something like this, it’s kinda strange.”, Terna wondered.

”I can get her a hundred percent, is all. Otherwise, of course I wouldn’t let her volunteer suicide. But never underestimate what ‘that feeling’ can do.”, she boldly answered back.

"Terna, get a hold of Anya, I will carry Tiki. Try to heal Anya along the way with your abilities, to make sure her condition doesn't deteriorate.", Luna said.

"Got it.", Terna picked Anya back up, "Easy now."

"What can I do? Please...there has to be something.", Yuno asked worryingly.

"Be our eyes at the sky. With the intercoms available, find a path through the collapsed buildings to an exit.", Luna said.

"Ok, I'll go.", Yuno started flying up.

Magi nodded, "Good. I'll be having this back too.", she grabbed her sword off Anya's paralyzed, tightened fists, "You did great.", she patted Anya in the back, looking back at Luna and nodding.

Luna grabbed Tiki, "Let's go."

As Magi turned around and everyone started heading out for their escape, Dante appeared from the sky, crushing down in front of the palace, down at the main plaza. Magi greeted her teeth as she witnessed the event. One last look was taken from everyone before they left her to her own devices.

"Will she be -ghk- alright?", Anya asked.

"With Dante's abilities at hand, her chances of survival are boosted dramatically.", Luna reassured her.

"Just wish I could kick the meatbag’s ass right now.", Tiki angrily said, "Crazy or not, I'll do it regardless, once he comes back."

They all gazed at Magi, as she too looked forwards towards the plaza.

"This god damn cycle of Overseers, this damn duty of theirs...fuck this! Fuck every single bit of this!", she screamed with a cracking voice.

She placed her blade in front of her swept the blood off it with her hand before jumping with extreme force off the royal grounds, right for Dante. Everyone stopped stuttering and instead turned around, running for the escape route.

"Wait a minute, why the hell was she not censored?", Tiki asked.

"What?", Terna asked.

"You know, like me! So I can't say [REDACTED], [REDACTED] or [REDACTED], but she can say 'fuck'? Are you serious?", Tiki looked back on her words.

Terna stuttered, "That's...oh my gosh."

Yuno called them from the intercoms, "Good god...Tiki, what the hell?", he stuttered from Tiki's horrifying words.

Tiki looked around, "Oh screw all of you. Grow a pair, we witnessed monster hoards and a child cemetery from kids on experimental surgeries. Me saying [REDACTED] ain't half the disturbing factor as that shit was."

"You have to seriously consider an alternative to your wording...", Luna herself stuttered.

"How about I at least teach one of us. Lina has gotta learn this while young, prepares the mind for what she wants to do?"

"How about I kill you, or leave you for dead right here?", Luna angrily said.

"Holy shit, even you showed emotion? Tonight must be the apocalypse. Fine...I'll watch it in front of the kid.", Tiki tried folding her arms, "Ghhk-son of a bitch, why do I always keep forgetting!"

In the middle of the plaza, Dante found himself overcharging his powers, as the ground shook and Obsulyte surged from everywhere. Enemy caught up with him only to find him at the center and a determined Magi on the opposite side. His suffering relentless, he began yelling from the pain of the power surge.

"Why is this happening?!", Dante screamed as he appeared to lose himself in a delusional reality, healing the wounds from Enemy's attacks.

"Magi, let's go.", Enemy nodded at Magi, Hikari's armor standing right behind her.

"Dante, snap out of it!", Magi dashed right for him.

Trying to land a forward thrust, Dante blocked her off by pinning a lance in front of her, breaking the attack. As Enemy followed after Magi, Dante placed his sword right in front of him, clashing with Enemy's blade.

"I'll take you down.", Enemy menacingly said.

"J-just leave me alone!", Dante yelled.

Surprised by his answer, Enemy relaxed the grip on her sword. The armor taking over, it raised itself above Enemy and went in for a downward slash. What happened next was something that both Magi and Enemy were caught off guard from. Dante summoned a massive black armor from his back, similar to Enemy's, holding a powerful looking replica of his own sword, slashing forward and shattering part of Enemy's armor. He followed by widening his stance, dispersing a powerful surge of energy and knocking both his attackers back. His veins now glowing brightly outside his skin, he widened his stance before lowering together with his sword, the massive armor standing above him in its own stance, sword passing along from his chest to the other hand. Like a cornered beast, he started hyperventilating, his anxiety peaking as he snapped in and out of sanity.

Enemy quickly recovered, "What the hell was that? Mellistar?!"

"I think...it is. This must be the last link that he has with that world, and Mellistar is piloting it.”, Magi gazed Dante.

"Heh? Huh?!", Dante looked around, "What's happening?!"

"You have to relax, now! You're way too overloaded!", Mellistar echoed, "This armor is the physical manifestation of the Precursor, to even enable it would take crazy amounts of energy! Sorry, but something happened at Corosta, the link between worlds was broken!"

"The god damn amulet!", Dante yelled as he grabbed his head, his voice gradually getting distorted.

"Deep breaths!", Mellistar yelled.

"No idea what this is supposed to be. Magi! I need a plan, now!", Enemy took a defensive stance.

"Off to you, Drima!", Magi said through coms.

"It's a severe overload case of a living nuke! The only thing that'll stop it is his own body, or something equally as strong! Get Hikari's other half to do the same, their powers are similar so she should be able to do something like that!", Drima frantically said.

"Primitive enough...Enemy!", Magi yelled.

"You got it?"

"I need you to burst like him while he's in this shocked state. Only way to stop this!"

Enemy jolted, "Literally any other way?"

"You want to wake up in the morning or what?!"

"God...dammit....", Enemy hesitated.

"It's the only way...", Hikari echoed inside her head.

"You know how this works, right?"

"I do...please!"

Before anything else could be said, Magi received a horrifying transmission through her communications, signifying a much worse scenario than previously thought of.

"Magi. Do you copy?" Luna said.

"Kind of a bad time!" Magi said.

"I need assistance. Hoards of Shadowers and Enmities have appeared before us, and with us carrying Anya and Tiki our combat capabilities are drastically minimized."

"I'm trying to fend them off but there's way too many!", Yuno yelled, "From above, these things stretch for miles, no way we can take them all on right now!"

"You have Dante's powers dammit! Do something!", Magi yelled back.

"I can't, all right?! I have them but I can't use them! My body can only take so much, like his, but no way I can reach the same level!"

"You're telling me this shit now? God...dammit!"

"I'm trying to look for a solution on Anya's book about this, but it doesn't show anything up! There used to be a page that turned her like this, but I can't find it anymore, it's like it was ripped off!", Terna said.

"Everything all right there?", Enemy asked.

"Ok, ok! I'm coming!", Magi sighed, "I have to go help the others, a super massive hoard of everything that's bad came our way."

"You don't say. With this guy blasting off energy scot-free, you think they wouldn't want a piece? Well, relatively scot-free. At least he's suffering long-term mental and probable physical damage.", Enemy pointed at Dante with a straight face. "Go. I'll kick his ass myself."

As she finished her words, Magi jumped her way in everyone else's direction, trying to desperately turn the situation in their favor. A long exhale came from Enemy, as she looked at Dante coming out of his shocked state.

"Hmm...Are you really sure about this?", Enemy asked.

Her words met with the void of silence, it was clear as to what she had to do.

"Alright. Let's go."

She pinned her sword on the ground before extending her right arm fully out. As she snapped her finger, the powerful armor standing behind her started to break down, bits and pieces flying away from each other. She floated a bit above the ground and contracted herself, the flying armor pieces blasting themselves on her and like little bricks, beginning to click along with each other. She released her contracted state with a mighty extension of all her limbs outwards, the ground giving in to the power surge as her sword dissolved in thin air.

Enemy softly landed, "I hope you know what you're doing.", she looked up at Dante, "Let's mosey, asshole."

"You again? Seriously?", Dante awkwardly said.

"Excuse me?", Enemy got confused.

"You're looking...beefed up. Did you plug a new armor on you?"

"Woah, woah, slow down. I'm asking the questions here. What the hell happened to you?!"

Dante looked at his body, "What? Are those my...powers?"

"Yes, good observation, now tell me that you're messing with me to give me more incentive to kill you."

"This place...another nightmare? Seriously? Fine. I'll beat your ass in your own game then. Square up.", Dante took on a fighting stance.

Enemy got furious, "You know what, no. You're not deadass messing with me that hard, I don't care! No idea what you just did and changed that attitude to confuse me, but I swear-
