Episode 43: The End of The Beginning/Part 3

A couple of hours passed right after, Drima came out of the operation room, followed by a calm and sensible Tiki. Everyone's excitement and happiness clearly brushed her by.

"Welcome back!" Terna happily said.

"Glad to have you back with us at maximum operational availability.", Luna extended her hand to Tiki.

"Hah. You bet your ass I wouldn't give in.", Tiki grabbed and tightly shook Luna's hand with her own recently operated one, "We've still got a score to settle."

"Glad you're fine and dandy, Miss Tiki!" Lina hugged Tiki.

"Hey, relax there kiddo. I wasn't leaving your sister that fast. And...Where's Anya? She was pretty bad when I saw her last time..."

"Back at Reingard by now." Magi sadly exhaled.

"Wait, why?"

"Her feral configuration brought forth by the enchantment of her Obsulyte powers prevented certain procedures from happening. She needed specialized help.", Luna informed her.

"Damn...she'll be fine though. That is one of the few things I'm sure of. I didn't pass her for such a bold moron, but if her guts can take that much heat, then she'll pull through no problem."

Just then, Dante approached from behind the rest of the team, folding his arms and looking Tiki straight in the eyes.

"Should've backed out...but you'll be fine, right?" he boldly told her.

"Hmm. Don't worry meatbag. If I manage to stay alive after being thrown into a jet engine, I can live by this."

"Only the jet engine wouldn't be able to break through your skin..." Yuno quietly said.

"The useless midget talked, or what?" Tiki angrily looked at Yuno.

"Everyone zip it, right now. I just did a simple procedure capitalizing on powerful local anesthetics and leaving her Obsulyte overflow to do the rest. Now what the hell did you break again, because I swear to god, you're paying for it."

"Whatever that room was over there." Enemy pointed at the room she was in with Dante.

"Minus one interrogation room. Great. What the hell were you even doing in there?"

"I just wanted some alone time and someone decided to intervene. Also, do I even need to ask as to why an official 'biometrics expert' needs an interrogation room and how it was built with nobody noticing?"

"Has it not appeared clearly enough that he is the epitome of everything we call illegal? I'm just glad he's siding with us." Magi looked at Drima.

"Some of those 'illegal' terms were made so that strong and influential morons can stay strong and influential morons without being questioned." Drima angrily said.

"I also tried to log into my account on Semori! To read a book I left half-finished on a site, but I can't get it to work." Dante gave Drima his tablet.

Drima jolted, "What appeared to be the problem?" he reluctantly asked"So many damn pop-ups and ads it's impossible to do anything. Just how many viruses are on that thing?"

"One look at his browsing history should reveal pretty much everything." Magi quietly chuckled.

Drima blushed, "Magi! Shut it the hell up!" he increased the strength of his grip on the tablet.

Just then, through the fingerprint recognition system, the tablet pulled through the pop-up windows and activated itself, instantly playing a saved video.

"What the-", Drima looked down at the tablet.

A loud moan was heard throughout the room before Drima reacted by throwing the tablet out of a nearby window. To his embarrassment, everyone fixated their eyes on him, except for Magi, who painfully and desperately tried to hold her laughter in. He paused as he crudely turned his head around with a stare that betrayed the need for death's luxury and looked around at everyone in the room.

"Oh...shit..." Drima whispered.

"Wait, why was there a video of a lady in pain on that tablet big sis?" Lina asked Luna.

Enemy facepalmed, "Not the goddamn kid."

Luna stuttered, "U-Umm. She was fighting...a wrestling match."

"I...I'll go wash my hands real quick." Dante regretted his life decisions that brought him up to this point. Yes. This is what it took for him to start regretting them. I mean, wouldn't you?

"Umm...so...mister Drima." Terna cleaned her throat, "About that informational gathering."

"Never mind that. What about the whole lecture about basically 'stop breaking shit'?", Yuno awkwardly asked.

"Give me a few minutes to lay off from the surgery and bang my scientific head to the wall." Drima dragged his body out of the room.

Tiki, stunned harder than anyone else uttered but a few words while looking at her recently healed arm, giving away an ominous mist of embarrassment, immense, immaculate and deadly anger with a pinch of grossness.

"H-He...he like...he didn't touch that tablet...before doing the surgery. R-Right?"

"I am positive that there is a washing station in the surgery room." Luna reassured her.

Tiki entered a praying stance, "Thank you. Thank you so much."

After a brief moment of relaxation and Dante's thorough hand sterilization, everyone calmed down enough to proceed to the meeting area. Magi, still chuckling and laughing sat briefly outside the meeting room. Once she finally calmed down, they all sat and waited for Drima to show up. The mood changed rapidly, they now took things way more seriously than they ever did before. Before them laid a holographic map of the entire world around a wide table filled with chairs left and right. A standard among meeting rooms, they started taking their seats. Dante firmly placed himself at the first seat on the table's head, with Enemy right by him to keep him in check, the others shortly followed around them. Finally, Drima showed up in a new outfit, having gotten rid of the previous surgical wear.

"So...you finally came-", Magi tried to make a joke.

"Shut up!" Drima blushed.

"Look, we get it. Can we please move on? I don't feel like wasting my time here." Dante demanded.

Drima cleaned his throat, "Right. Everyone...this will be a turning point to everything you've been doing up to this point. Through meticulous studying and an abundance of new information, I will be flipping the entire table tonight for you all. Here's the deal." he launched something from his tablet.

The hologram Drima launched from his tablet exploded as it got into the center of the meeting table, now imitating scenes and scenarios familiar to everyone, engulfing them all in the hologram.

"Woah..." Terna looked around."

"So...let's begin." Drima stepped forward, "I have analyzed your abilities through this one singular battle, and those who didn't do much of a fight, I still managed to gather info from their Obsulyte signatures and previously shared details. My goal here is to make you have a clear cut understanding of each other's abilities, the way you can mix them together and worker better as a team."

Enemy scoffed, "You deadass think this will last?"

Drima took an angry glare at her, "For as long as it does, I want to be sure. Now, before I begin with anything, I'll tell you some basics you'll never see being taught at school. You are all, clearly Obsulyte users. But not just any Obsulyte users. You're what I like to call the 'Golden Generation' of Obsulyte users. Now what that means: Long ago, when I used to travel alongside other Sentinels, Makaro and Kikaro being in their sovereign state, there were a lot, and I mean a lot of Obsulyte users. Statistically would say around 90% plus of the population had it. The results were that their powers were abundantly weaker than today. They couldn't level cities and skyscrapers like you, merely using it in their daily lives as a small convenience. Fast forward to today, and surprisingly only 1% if not less of the population is considered to be Obsulyte users. And of course, as humans always do, those who are such users are outcasts for either being 'cancerous infections' or extremely dangerous individuals. Both statements are true at the core but strain further from the truth the more you expand on them. Yes, current-day Obsulyte users have such a power excess that it may just be dangerous to themselves as it is for the receiving end those powers are used on. See how Dante and Enemy have such an over excess of energy it will diminish their mental or physical strength. In Dante's case, it's both, the more he uses it, the more he fails to control it and the more primitive or irrational and radical his style in fighting, response to external factors or attacks and situational awareness got., response and situational awareness got. And if I am to be completely honest, I think you were the same. However, through time's training, you managed to suppress that...but I'm going to ask you something and I want an honest answer. Through your readings, I could see that the Obsulyte you used was indeed as harmful as Dante's, but I couldn't find any way that you'd pull through with the amount of it you used, because you do not possess a healing effect. How so?"

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Enemy stuttered for a moment, "Fine. It's because Hikari and I share the harm that happens to us. Unlike me, she does possess a healing effect, above the normal standard for Obsulyte users, so she's able to take the hit much better than me. Likewise, I take the damage she receives when she's in charge so that we have more effective fighting capabilities. Her powers are indeed worthless offensively, but I cover that for her, including combat knowledge and everything."

"So back in Corosta, the way I saw the shorty move around..." Tiki wondered.

"Yes, I was the one giving her the fighting stances. Other than that, when damage gets out of hand, we both share it...but Hikari eventually gets all of it. Because of my normal body, we usually transfer most of the damage on her so that she can heal it, so it eventually all routes back to her..." she answered Tiki.

"Hmm...I see. Dante is essentially a mix of you and Hikari, without the ability to transfer damage. Not even on Mellistar."

"Mellistar?" Luna asked.

"It's sort of...complicated. It's some guy that heavily resembles Dante, but not really? I dunno. What I do know is that he taught him a few things like I did about his powers and the fact he can intercept Dante when he goes berserk and loses control, like today.", Yuno answered her.

"That will be because Mellistar shares not only similar Obsulyte capabilities as Dante, but also the fact that Dante is essentially...well, his other half.", Drima fixed his glasses.

"What?" Dante weirdly looked at Drima.

"Ok...this is more complicated than what I thought it to be. During the last time I saw Maro and Kiro fighting, I was alongside Mellistar and Cecilia in a place called the "Imaginary Space". It's a form of our reality, completely defying all laws of physics and all logic. It contorts itself and shifts matter at its own will. Hikari was laying on some sort of garden with white roses that she laid on. If I were to stretch my guess, because Cecilia was heavily hit by Mellistar during our fight with Maro and Kiro there, she must have somehow, someway, inherited Mellistars abilities and part of his DNA. I know I'm really stretching it, but that same logic would also answer Enemy's origin, in the sense that she was instead cultivated and born inside Hikari because of her extended stay within the Imaginary Space. Perhaps?" Drima theorized.

"Shit...he's fast to figure things out...damn." Enemy whispered.

"So...Mellistar is, in a nutshell, my ancestor?" Dante asked.

"Probably? But not definitely. I need more details on that specifically before making a verdict."

"I would beg to differ...it's complicated, because I don't even have a straight answer for it," Mellistar echoed inside Dante's head.

"Well, we're stuck." Dante folded his arms.

"In any case, origin stories are not what we're here for, despite us needing to get into it at some point. A hot case right now is figuring everyone's powers, then we can follow with that. So going back to our previous subject, Dante and Enemy are mutual in terms of powers, with key differences. And here's the deal kicker. Luna is the same."

"Wait, what?! Big sis can be as cool as mister Dante?!" Lina jolted.

"Easy Lina. What may the reason behind that be?" Luna asked.

"Yeah? I would swear her aura when she went up against me is definitely that of demons." Tiki confirmed.

"Indeed. The basis of her abilities are because she seems to be because of a certain Obsulyte presence within her. But whenever she uses her abilities, I get the exact same signature as Dante and Enemy, which leads me to believe that she has some sort of imitation of them. But again, she doesn't have any healing abilities to back that theory up."

"Wait. What do you mean by healing abilities? Like me and Hikari?" Dante asked.

"Every single Obsulyte user has two properties, innate advantage over non-Obsulyte users. Very highly increased physical strength due to energy overflow reinforcing bone structure and immune system and elevated healing abilities. The healing abilities were not there at first, but must have been inherited through generations of new users throughout the years since the world itself has it."

"Wait...our world has healing abilities?" Terna asked with a weird outlook.

"Yes. Every world does, time heals everything after all. But Zero is special. Take a look at today's battlefield."

Drima pulled up footage of the giant crater caused by Enemy next to Dirunon at that day's fight, showing them small green sprouts coming out of the ground.

"This, normally, wouldn't be a thing. But since the world itself started becoming more accustomed to the energy itself, it too gained the ability to heal its wounds. With enough time, even this crater should be naturally brought back to its original level. That's why I'm not opposed to excessive use of force in non-inhabited areas, because I don't fear permanent damage to nature and the landscape of things."

"Wait...Zero?" Tiki asked.

"Yes, the world's name isn't 'Riza'. Merely mistaken by some wacko historians and scientists who thought that Hikari, a.k.a 'Ika-risa' created the world? But those originally wandering it, like me, knew that the world pre-existed before Hikari stepped foot in it. After numerous science stuff with Drima, we chose to call it 'Zero', as in 'Ground Zero'.", Magi answered her.

"That doesn't make any sense. Why name it like that?" Yuno wondered.

"Because I've done a number of studies. Zero isn't just a world. It's a starting point. It's a bridge between every single multiverse, alternate reality etcetera. Because of our connection with the Imaginary Space, I also believe that unlike other worlds, Zero is entirely unique, in the since that no other Zero can ever exist in any multiverse or alternate reality. Timelines though are a different property." Drima answered.

"So...there's a high probability that what we're facing might not even be a threat from our world.", Dante added.

"Not just that, there's also a possibility that some of you might not even be originally from Zero. Though born and raised here...you might actually be taken from other worlds through the connection from the Imaginary Space."

Everyone paused for a brief moment as they looked at each other.

"God dammit, son of a bitch turned it into an Isekai, didn't he?" Enemy angrily said.

"I literally prayed for the exact opposite like 50 episodes ago. Shit just couldn't work." Dante shared her frustration.

"I mean, looking at this, male to female ratio is a 4/7, so at least there's some dignity in it. No fan service yet and no one is wearing promiscuous clothing...yet." Enemy tried to relax.

"Up until you realize that I saw Hikari naked in the hotel back in Reingard." Dante paused as he realize what he shouldn't have said.

Enemy got up instantly, "You fucking, what?!"

"First of all I don't care and second of all, I didn't ask for it. She was just deprived of common sense thanks to your brainwashing of memories. I covered my eyes even, as I literally can't bother with that."

In the brief moments that followed, Dante was promptly picked up by Enemy and thrown out the same window that Drima's tablet took flight moments prior, crashing back into the royal garden.

"Ok...holy shit?" Tiki awkwardly looked at everyone, "What the hell?"

"He can take the elevator back." Magi shrugged.

Drima facepalmed, "Just kill me. Why did I ever think this was a good idea? Why does the fate of the world rest upon them?" he told Magi.

"Hey, we didn't start out much better now, right?" she reassured him.

A brief moment of argument between Drima and the rest of the group passed before Dante jumped back into the meeting room by using the hole that enemy had reopened, calmly taking back his seat as Enemy did the same.

"I am really gonna kill you."

"Be my guest.", he answered her.

"Guys can we please just give this up and focus?" Yuno suggested.

"Unnecessary procrastination only helps to waste valuable time." Luna supported Yuno.

"Alright, fine by me. Everyone pipe down and Drima say what you have to."

"God! Stop and listen. Now, like I was saying before, Luna has a mix signature of both a demons aura and Dante's or Enemy's. That makes me strongly believe the fact that, coupled with her lack of elevated healing abilities, Luna is an illegitimate Obsulyte user, or simply not one at all."

"I have to let you know of a specific detail that you may have missed, that being that my sister and I have been partially modified. Our modifications come with high grade cloaking capabilities against infrared vision and X-ray to better conceal identities."

"That would explain Lina's massive physical strength..." Drima pondered.

"Not really. Like elevated healing, don't we all have massive strength?" Tiki added.

"Normally, if we're talking about Obsulyte users, then their strength will start to show at around the time they're teenagers, while the healing is there since the start. Judging off Lina's appearance alone, she's definitely not a teenager, so that's either premature abilities or she's an illegitimate user like Luna." Drima said.

"You remember the classifications, right? Despite the obvious schism that drove it, Wolven, Calico and Demons are entirely different. So maybe it has to do with the fact that she may be different." Tiki suggested.

"You do have a point." Yuno said.

"But what's all the deal with Demons, Wolven and everything? I never quite got that." Terna wondered.

"It's a huge nerd thing if you ask me. The initial names came out to classify the crossbreeds of kemonomimis. But aside from the way that their tails and ears are different, Demons are quite unique, because they're in a constant state of Obsulyte overcharge. Honestly, they are more dangerous than normal users in the sense that they will need some place to discharge that energy. The fall of Corosta happened primarily because of their Destruction Zone being destroyed, ironically enough." Magi said.

"What is a Destruction Zone?" Luna asked.

"It's a place where, like us, we overcharged it with Obsulyte to boost its healing factor. It was a place that we went to blow steam off, but something happened that didn't allow it to be overcharged anymore, meaning that with no one to let that Obsulyte off...things were tense." Tiki answered her.

"Hmm...Indeed. But Luna doesn't seem to be suffering from the need to constantly disperse that energy. However, she lacks key characteristics to classify her as anything.", Drima added, "In any case, Luna's abilities are actually similar to Dante's and Enemy's, but instead of having a healing factor to counteract the damage it does, or sharing the damage to prolong a burst state, she has neither. We've never seen her being in a burst state like Dante and Enemy, however, so I can't judge until then. I would like to think that she has the same immunity against toxic materials like the other two, however."

"I think she does. Back when we were making the thing to knock Dante out she wasn't really wearing any gloves." Terna said.

"Hmm, really? Do you still have the bottle you used for that?" Drima asked Terna.

"No, Tiki actually stopped me before I could and scolded Luna for not wearing gloves. She pushed Luna to the showers and took notes of whatever we used."

"Wait, wait. Did Tiki interrupt you from making poison for me? My hero. And how did she know?" Dante sarcastically said.

Tiki jolted as she stuttered, "N-Nothing! Even a moron should know not to use dangerous chemicals without gloves! T-That's all!"

"I apologize for my actions, however, I too have an innate immunity to chemical effects as a previous note from a contact with one," Luna said.

"Like hell I knew!" Tiki angrily said.

"Focus. Anyone remember what that thing you used was?" Drima asked again.

"I lost the note...no way I remember." Tiki folded her arms.

"I possess good enough memory from practical uses like this. There was no name label on the container, but I fully remember the formula written on it.", Luna said.

"Which is?"

"Carbon: 6760, Hydrogen: 10447, Nitrogen: 1743 Oxygen: 2010 and Sulfur: 32.", Luna flawlessly said.

"What the actual fu-", Drima coughed before he could finish his sentence, "Are you, idiots?!"

"What even is that?" Yuno asked.

"It's god damn Botulinum Toxin! You guys have any idea how absolutely dangerous that is?!" Drima angrily said.

"Extremely, extremely dangerous. Holy shit you guys, did you play bartender with that shit?" Tiki looked at everyone else.

"I made use of all the chemicals I could find in full availability on the station." Luna shrugged.

"The lethal dose of that shit is like 3 Nano grams, how much did you use?" Tiki asked again.

"Perfect dose of 10 millilitres." Luna answered again.
